Oto słowa Proroka: zaprawdę powiadam wam, że nastanie chaos w wielu miejscach i ogień często będzie wybuchał. Słońce rozjaśni się w nocy, a księżyc w ciągu dnia, gwiazdy zaś zaczną spadać. Krew będzie ciec z drzewa, a kamień wyda głos. Dzikie bestie będą atakować, a niewiasty brzemienne będą rodzić potwory. I oto sprawdziło się proroctwo i oczom naszym stało się ono widome: niewiasty porodziły potwory. Wiedźmini są tymi potworami, heroldami chaosu i zguby.
At the time of writing this review, this book is only available in polish but I’ve seen that this book will be available for purchase in English on September 30th 2025 so by the end of this month. With that being said lets get into the review of this new Witcher book.
As some of you might know I’m a huge fan of The Witcher book series, so when I’ve heard this book was published I knew that I needed to read this book. This book takes place way before “season of storms” and “the last wish” in the series. The action takes place shortly after Gerald leaves Kaer Morhen and tries to make his way around the world of the Witcher universe as a young and new Witcher. I cant say much more than that without spoiling anything which will take place in the plot of this book.
The plot in this book its very interesting and enjoyable. From the very moment I started reading this book I was completely clued to the book and I had a very hard time closing it if I needed to do something else than sitting on my bean bag and read this amazing book.
I completely love this book, not because it was better than the other books in the series but because the last time I read a book in the series was in 2023 so over 2 years ago. And when I was reading this book I had the huge feeling of nostalgia of reading the entire series for the first time and not appreciating it fully back then as I do now. Back then I said that the series was okay fantasy read or something similar to that, but now I completely love the entire series and the entire series is easily my second favorite book series right after “a song of ice and fire” book series. I love this series so much that it is even above the Harry Potter book series which I love to death. But back to reviewing this book.
We get quite a handful of characters in this book. But all of them were incredible characters which I loved a lot even those once which I disliked because they were the “villains” of this book.
This book gives us a lot of incredible characters which are very likable and memorable. Which mad emerges give this book some extra points for having.
Even Gerald in this book seemed an amazing character, even better than in the other books in this series. Because we get to learn more about the earlier days of him being out of the Kaer Morhen and out in the world as a new and young Witcher. In this book we get a lot of Gerald’s backstory which gives the entire series more depth.
At the same time we get to know more of the characters in the series, which only add more to the overall series in my opinion at the very least.
The writing style in this book was amazing, because it was like the author of this book knew exactly what words to use to complete grab my attention and to not let it go until the very end of this book. Even when I wasn’t reading this book I was constantly thinking about what would happen next in this book, which really shows how much I was sucked into this book.
As I’ve said above this book isn’t the best book in this series, it is pretty average but the reason why I give this book 4 out of 5 is because of the nostalgia I had for returning to the book series.
The only thing I didn’t like about this book is the fact that I didn’t want it to end. The last time I read a Witcher book was in 2023 when I finished reading the entire series, so now that we got this new book out I didn’t want it to end.
I Give This Book 4 / 5
