“The Midnight Club” By Christopher Pike Review

Rotterdam Home, a hospice where teenagers with terminal illnesses went to die, was home to the Midnight Club–a group of five young men and women who met at midnight and told stories of intrigue and horror. One night they made a pact that the first of them to die would make every effort to contact the others from beyond the grave.

To be very honest here I didn’t know much about this book before actually reading it, of course I watched the Netflix series based off on this book but I didn’t know how true the series would be to this book.

This book really surprised me a lot because I really liked it a lot. And I was completely glued to it in just such a way that I read it in less than a year.

This book is very short read, my copy of this book had only 212 pages and after finishing this book I was very mixed about this book. Because I had a lot of thoughts about this book and a lot of those thoughts weren’t quite on the same page with each other.

On the one hand this book was too short and I would get to know those characters much more and to be on a journey with them for longer than just those 200 pages but at the same time the size of this book was what I needed it to be. Because I have the feeling that if this book was longer than it would quickly become a shitty book.

The plot in this book is very unique and I for sure haven’t come a plot like this so far. Is about hospice for teenagers with very shitty and terminal illnesses which didn’t have a long time left to live. Its a very devastating plot for sure but at the same time its very unique.

The ending of this book was very heartbreaking, because of all the things which happen at the end but at the same time its very satisfying end. And I feel like if this book was longer then the ending would have been less satisfying than it actually was. I really like the ending, which made me give this book some extra points for.

The characters in this book was good, we don’t get a lot of characters in this book but does we get are good. I wouldn’t say that they are very good because we get way too little time with them. The characters doesn’t have a lot to depth to them but its understandable because we only get 200 pages of this book.

Even tho the characters in this book doesn’t have a lot of depth, they still have things that make them unique and something which makes us the readers like them.

However I got very annoyed at the very end of this book at Ilonka Pawluk because in my opinion she was way too hopeful and she didn’t feel like the same character we spend the book getting to know. It felt like she has aged 60 years in 1 chapter out of nowhere.

The writing style in this book was very simple and easy to read. And because of the easy and simple writing style this book was very obvious that it is aimed towards the Young Adult genre fans. But I didn’t mind that because I knew from the beginning that this book was aimed towards the YA fans.

The writings style was very good here because it made the whole plot of teenager who have terminal illness less heavier and it made it easier to read with his whole heavy topic going on in this book.

This book is very powerful but at the same time it is also very sad because of the topic. But the way this book presents this very sad plot makes it likable at least in my opinion.

Even thou this book is aimed towards young adults it deals with a very mature topic. Which really surprised me when I started reading this book. But even thou the topic is very heavy and mature the punchline of this book is friendship, love and life when you know it wont last long.

“Mercy Kill” By Aaron Allston Review

The intrepid spies, pilots, and sharpshooters of Wraith Squadron are back in an all-new Star Wars adventure, which transpires just after the events of the Fate of the Jedi series! Three decades have passed since Wraith Squadron carried out its last mission. Taking on the most dangerous and daring operations, the rogues and misfits of the elite X-Wing unit became legends of the Rebellion and the Second Galactic Civil War, before breaking up and going their separate ways. Now their singular skills are back in vital demand—for a tailor-made Wraith Squadron mission.

And yet again we are talking about another amazing book from the Star Wars universe. This particular book is a part of a 10 books sub-series in the star wars universe. And this series is about the x-wing fighters unit, which turns out to be very interesting and not like boring as I was expecting to be before starting this sub-series. Which is a very pleasant surprise.

There are a lot of great characters in this book, which really made give this book some extra points. Most of the characters feels like real human being and I wouldn’t have no problem being friends with them.  Most of the characters had a personality, it was easy to like them and they had their own opinions, thoughts etc. which made them feel like real human being. But some characters were not that great, because they were shallow, and they felt like they simple created to fill up the void and nothing more than that.

The plot in this book is very good because there is a lot of action in this book. And there is always something happening in this book, which means that you wont get bored reading this book. Which of course made me give this book some extra points for a lot of action which this book has.

The plot feels very unique even thou that adding new things to the star wars universe can be easily get to be a very big miss which can make the star wars fan hate you. But the author doesn’t miss with this book and expands the star wars universe in a very good way.

The writing style in this book is okay, it had some good moments but it also had some bad moments. Simple the writing style in this book wasn’t the greatest but it was okay and not as bad as it could get.

“Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones” By James Clear Review

No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving—every day. James Clear, one of the world’s leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.

To be honest this book is one of the best books ive read this year, and yeah this book deserves all the hype it gets because it is very very good.

There are dozens of books by this point about how we can change our habits to better habits, and I read a lot of them but this one is the best of all of them because it doesn’t recycles the same information as the dozens of other books about the same topic but rather it gives us new information which are more relatable and easier to put into work in real life when you are done with this book.

This book makes the process of removing bad habits and establishing new habits very easy because it gives all the motivation we need to actually do it but also it gives us a very easy way how we can do it.

The language in this book is very easy and simple, which really makes this book a good for everyone no matter if you are still in high school or if you have a master’s degree in psychology. Everyone can read this book and take something out of it.

The writing style here is incredible because it didn’t feel like reading a  heavy nonfiction book but rather it felt like take a chat with the author. The writing style was very down to earth and very easy to understand which really made me give this book some extra points for it.

This book is also very hard to put it down, because it really gives you a very very hard time to put it away because it completely sucks you into it.

“Before” By Anna Todd Review

Before explores Hardin Scott’s life before Tessa, reveals what happens after After, and gives new insights on their turbulent #Hessa romance. BEFORE Hardin met Tessa he was a raging storm. DURING those first moments they met, he realized he needed to keep her for himself — his life depended on it. AFTER they got together, the world would never be the same.

This book is very last book in the “After” series by Anna Todd and i just cant believe that it is the very end of a series I came to love so much.

This book has 3 parts in it, before Tessa, During Tessa and After Tessa. And wow I wasn’t expecting such a very good ending to this whole series. It really was what I wanted out of this series. And somehow this book made me fall in love with this series more even thou I didn’t like this book as much as the previous books in this series.

One of the things I didn’t like about this book was that it spend a very little time on Hardin before he met Tessa, and I really wished that the author could have spend more time on Hardin before he met Tessa, so that we could learn more about him and see how much he have changed because of Tessa.

The writing style feels a little bit off in this book because it didn’t feel like the previous books in this series, but “after ever happy” had the same problem as this book when it comes to the writing style because the writing style in both of those books didn’t feel like it was written by the same person as book 1 to 3 in this series.

However the way this book was made showing us 3 aspects of Hardin, before, during and after the drama with Tessa, really made me love him so much more. Because its clear how much he have changed because of Tessa.

This book is the entirely written from Hardin’s perspective and I really like this but I wished that this book could have been longer because this book was way too short than I wanted it to be. Because I wanted to spend more time with Hardin and Tessa because this book is the final book in this series. And I didn’t want the end to come as soon as it did.

“Paris: The Memoir” By Paris Hilton Review

Founder. Entrepreneur. Pop Culture Maker. Innovator. Survivor. Activist. Daughter. Sister. Wife. Mom. These are roles Paris Hilton embraces now as a fully realized woman. Paris rose to prominence as an heiress to the Hilton Hotels empire, but cultivated her fame and fortune as the It Girl of the aughts, a time marked by the burgeoning twenty-four-hour entertainment news cycle and the advent of the celebrity blog. Using her celebrity brand, Paris set in motion her innovative business ventures, while being the constant target of tabloid culture that dismissively wrote her off as “famous for being famous.” With tenacity, sharp business acumen, and grit, she built a global empire and, in the process, became a truly modern icon beloved around the world.

Its important to say that I didn’t know a lot about Paris Hilton before reading this book, and this is the reason why I decided to buy and read this book.

This book is very interesting, enjoyable and very engaging in a way. Ive read this book in one day so its very easy sign that I just couldn’t put this book down because I was sucked into this book and learning more about Paris Hilton.

Before reading this book I wasn’t a fan of Paris Hilton, but after reading this book I’ve learned a lot about her and saw how much shit she went through in her life and because of it, I grow to like her and in a way look up to her because this book shows that there are much more to her than what meets the eye on the interest or in the gossip newspapers.

In the prolog she kept jumping from thought to thought a lot and it made me think that the rest of the book will be just as poorly organized as the prolog but it was actually very far from the truth. And really this book is really worth reading even if you are like me before reading this book, who didn’t like her at all.

The cover of this book is pink which really makes you think that this book will be happy and not have anything bad in this. But don’t be fooled. Thats far from the truth. Because Paris Hilton in this book really talks about all the bad shit she went through in her life and it involves all from beating beaten up, being forced to take drugs, made to do some creepy shit and PTSD. There are a lot of things that are really hard to read about in this book and I just cant image how all of those things must have felt like to be Paris Hilton in this situations she went through in her life.

The writing style in this book is amazing because it is really simple and it was like having a one-on-one conversation with Paris Hilton because it was a every day language.

In this book Paris Hilton gets really really honest with us and spills all the things she went through which really made me change my opinion about her after reading this book.

“After Ever Happy” By Anna Todd Review

Book Four of the After series—now newly revised and expanded, Anna Todd’s After fanfiction racked up 1 billion reads online and captivated readers across the globe. Experience the Internet’s most talked-about book for yourself! #HESSA

I cant believe that this book is the last book in the “After” series, but I gotta say that this series was a roller coaster of a ride.

However I need to be honest and admit that this book had a very different feeling to it then the previous 3 books in this series. It just didn’t feel like it was written by the same author. The characters and plot was still good but it just didn’t have the same felling to it. But the drama between Hardin and Tessa isn’t the same as it was in the 3 previous books.

Hardin and Tessa are still the most characters to be ever created, and I just cant believe that my journey with them are over. Because I love them so much.

Both Tessa and Hardin have so much personality to them and emotions that they feel like real human beings rather than fictional characters. I personally would have no problems being friends with both Tessa and Hardin.

Throughout this entire book I was seating at the edge of my seat because I knew that this book is the big finally and I were dying to know if Tessa and Hardin are the end game or not. And I cant give you an answer to you because I not gonna spoil anything for you.

The writing style here felt different from the rest of this series, just as it was written by a different person. Which I’ve touched upon it before in this review. And this is the main reason why I choice to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 star even thou I wanted to give it the full score.

The ending here is amazing, and there was a point near the end where this book got me crying like a baby because of the things which were happening. I really wanted to scream at the author. But after finishing the book I realized that this moment was important because if we didn’t get it, the whole ending would have been very different and it wouldn’t be so satisfying as it was.

“The Redeemer” By Jo Nesbø Review

Christmas shoppers stop to hear a Salvation Army concert on a crowded Oslo street. A gunshot cuts through the music and the bitter cold: one of the singers falls dead, shot in the head at point-blank range. Harry Hole—the Oslo Police Department’s best investigator and worst civil servant—has little to work with: no suspect, no weapon, and no motive. But Harry’s troubles will multiply. As the search closes in, the killer becomes increasingly desperate, and Harry’s chase takes him to the most forbidden corners of the former Yugoslavia.

In my opinion this book is the best book so far in this series, and of course we are talking about the “Harry Hole” series. This book is the 6th book in this series.

The mystery in this book is very engaging and interesting which really makes you sit at the edge of whatever you are siting on. However this mystery in this book has the same issues as some of the previous books in this series. Which is that when Harry is in the midst of investigation its super interesting but the moment Harry does something which doesn’t involve the investigation to catch the murderer then it suddenly becomes boring in a way.

The plot here is interesting and enjoyable but as said above it has some down turns here and there which really made me not fully aboard with it. But the premise of a person killing a person on the stage and no one knew who that was is really creepy to me because my brain instantly goes to someone from “league of shadows” (batman reverse).

The plot in this book takes Harry to dark corners of the former Yugoslavia, which of course makes it more interesting because we get to see it from Harry’s perspective which makes fun.

The characters in this book are pretty all over the place. Because I truly love Harry Hole as a main character but some of the side characters in this book weren’t as good of characters as Harry is.

The writing style here was very good, its like the author knew what words to use to fully grab my attention and to not let it go until the very end.

“Dracula’s Child” By J.S. Barnes Review

Dracula returns. It has been some years since Jonathan and Mina Harker survived their ordeal in Transylvania and, vanquishing Count Dracula, returned to England to try and live ordinary lives. But shadows linger long in this world of blood feud and superstition – and, the older their son Quincy gets, the deeper the shadows that lengthen at the heart of the Harkers’ marriage. Jonathan has turned back to drink; Mina finds herself isolated inside the confines of her own family; Quincy himself struggles to live up to a family of such high renown. And when a gathering of old friends leads to unexpected tragedy, the very particular wounds in the heart of the Harkers’ marriage are about to be exposed.

I need to give this book a huge applause to the author of this book because reading this book gave the same feeling and vibe as reading “Dracula” by Bram Stoker.

This book is an unofficial sequel to Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”, and wow this book is amazing. We get all the original characters from Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” like Van Helsing, Mina Harker, Jonathan Harker, Jack Seward and Arthur.

Its important to say that this book is much longer than Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”, but its fully worth reading this book despite its size.

The plot here continues the plot from Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” but its 10 years or so after the events of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. The plot is very interesting, engaging and very thrilling. Its very hard to put this book down because the moment you start reading this book you get completely sucked into it and you wont be able to put this book down.

The original characters from Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” we get in this book are as good as in Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. If I need to be bold a little bit and say that the original characters from Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” are even better in this book than in Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”.

We also get new characters in this book, and the new characters are also very very good. They might not have same nostalgia as the original characters have but they are still very very good and each of them have their unique personalities and something which makes them stand out from the rest.

The writing style here feels like it was written by Bram Stoker, because it has the same feeling as Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. It just proves how good of an author the author of this book is.

however the ending here was not as great as the rest of the book, which is the reason why I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5. The whole books builds to the huge ending and in reality the ending was very weak and I was very angry about the ending.

“After We Fell” By Anna Todd Review

Just as Tessa makes the biggest decision of her life, everything changes. Revelations about first her family, and then Hardin’s, throw everything they knew before in doubt and makes their hard-won future together more difficult to claim. Tessa’s life begins to come unglued. Nothing is what she thought it was. Not her friends. Not her family. The one person she should be able to rely on, Hardin, is furious when he discovers the massive secret she’s been keeping. And rather than being understanding, he turns to sabotage.

This book is the third book in the “after” series by Anna Todd. To be honest this book took a longer time to read than the previous two books in this series, because I start to get tired of this series, and all the drama between Tessa and Hardin.

I personally feel like im getting close to the point where I’m getting sick of the back and forth drama and fucked up situations between Tessa and Hardin, at this point I’ve read 3 books in this series, and each of those books had over 800 pages in them.

While I was reading this book, I had some many thoughts about why Tessa didn’t leave Hardin at this point? This was the first time it happened to me while reading this series.

The plot in this book, wasn’t the great as the plot in the first and second book in this series, I can honestly say that the series is going down the hill with this book. But this series is far better than “Fifty Shades Of Grey”.

The plot was interesting but at times it was getting very close to the edge of becoming boring.

The characters here were good, but in this book I started having problems with Tessa, because in one moment she says she is done with Hardin and in the next moment she is running back to him. Which is annoying me so very much in this book, because whats so hard to with sticking to what you say.

I found myself liking more and more throughout this book Tessa’s father which came in big into this series at the very end of book two, and he becomes one of the major side characters in this book. Which really was good, because it have taken a lot of drama away from Hardin and Tessa and put it on Tessa’s father.

We also get a huge plot twist from one of the character in this book, which really blow my mind in a way but at the same time I was expecting something like the event which happened to occur but not from the character which it came from.

But still I found myself to be consumed in this book, and read in front to back without any major hesitation.

“Fracture Me” By Tahereh Mafi Review

As Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam’s focus couldn’t be further from the upcoming battle. He’s reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend’s life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James’s safety. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. It’s time for war.

This book is written from Adam’s perspective. And I need to admit that this book was less fan than the book written from Warner’s perspective. But thats has to do me not liking Adam as much as I like Warner.

After reading this book, I need to say that this book was more about Adam reassuring himself that he can be the hero which Juliette and his little brother needs  than anything else.

Throughout this whole book Adam tries to be the hero for everyone, but still everything goes to shit at the end of this book, which really shows how bad of a hero Adam is.

But still a part of me loved this book a fair share, because we get to know Adam much more and we get to know his thoughts and emotions. But still some of his thoughts about Juliette aren’t the most valiant. Because he more or less wants to control Juliette in a way, always telling her what she should do like choosing him over Warner even do he treats Juliette as shit at times.

There are some additional action we get to know when Juliette is taken by Warner’s father from the battlefield. And we get to see those action going down through Adam’s perspective which is okay for the most part. But if you want me to pick a preferable perspective then I would go with Juliette’s and Warner’s perspectives.

The writing style here is as good as in the previous books in the series, which of course means that the author seems to know what words to use, to fully grab your attention and to not let it go until you finish the book.
