“White Line Fever: The Autobiography” By Lemmy Kilmister Review

Ian Fraser Kilmister was born on Christmas Eve, 1945. Learning from an early age that chicks really do appreciate a guy with a guitar, and inspired by the music of Elvis and Buddy Holly, Lemmy quickly outgrew his local bands in Wales, choosing instead to head to Manchester to experience everything he could get his hands on. And he never looked back.

I gotta admit here that I wanted to read this book for a while now, because I love Motörhead and of course as I devoted Motörhead fan I needed to read this book, and now I finally read.

This book is very good, because there are so many good things I have to say about this book. If you want me to be very honest here, I need to admit that this book is one of the best autobiographies I’ve read so far in my life.

One of the things I liked a lot about this book is that it feels more like a transcription of an long and interesting interview rather than a book. Because of this, the entire time I was reading this book I heard Lemmy’s voice in my head actually saying the words I was reading on paper.

This book offers us fair share of humor, and at the same time we get Lemmy’s opinions and thoughts on other musicians which really makes feel like an real human being rather than one of the rock gods he is. Some of the things Lemmy says about other musicians is very brutally honest.

At the same time Lemmy also gave us his thoughts about feminism and vegetarianism amongst other things. And a little spoiler he didn’t have a lot of good things to say about feminism. Because of this I realized that I agree with Lemmy on more things that I actually thought I would.

You don’t have to be a big fan of Motörhead to enjoy this book, if you have slightest interested in music then I very strongly think that you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

The one bad things I have to say about this book is that it could easily be longer because I just couldn’t get enough of this book because I find it to be so good and damn interesting.

This book also shows us that Lemmy is much smarter than all of us expected him to be, and at times there are moments in this book where he is pretty fun.

A huge topic throughout this book is that Lemmy doesn’t exactly paint himself in the best light and admits that some of the things he done in life from his drug and alcohol struggles weren’t the smartest and kindest things to do while being self-confident and unapologetic himself.

The writing style in this book is very good. I said it above, but this book feels like an transcription of an extended interview or like having a coffee chat with Lemmy rather than just reading a book which he had written.

The two will discover mysterious coins that have the power to revive an emperor and his demonic army. Let me start this review by saying that this one is just a preview for the entire comic book. And I read it because I wanted to see if the full comic book was worth the money and time I would spend on it. And I’m gonna give you the answer for that at the end of this review.

This preview sets up an intriguing tale, blending elements of mystery and historical fiction with a touch of the supernatural. Which I personally found to be very fun and inserting.

The narrative of this preview is well-paced and successfully creates suspense, which really got me interested in buying and reading the full version of this comic book. Because I found the concept of pairing iconic literary figures in a shared adventure to be both clever and captivating.

The characters of Poe and Phillips are introduced with depth and distinct personalities. Which really made me give this preview some extra points for having. Their dynamic is intriguing, and the preview hints at rich backstories and motivations. This solid character foundation promises further development in the full version of this comic book. Which really makes me look forward to reading the full version of this comic book.

The artwork in this preview complements the story beautifully, capturing the eerie and mysterious tone with detailed and evocative illustrations. The artwork in this preview really enhances the narrative, immersing me personally in the atmospheric setting and bringing the world to life.

Themes of mystery, friendship, and the supernatural are woven into the narrative, adding layers of depth and intrigue. These themes are effectively presented, offering both entertainment and substance. Which really made me also give this preview some extra points for doing very well.

So will buy and read the full version of this comic book ? Yes I will. It might take some time for me to actually read the full version of this comic book because I have been way too optimistic when creating my TBR list for this year and I don’t know if I get the time to read the full version of this comic book this year. But I will read the full version of this comic book at some point in time.

“The Hunchback of Notre-Dame” By Victor Hugo Review

This extraordinary historical French gothic novel, set in Medieval Paris under the twin towers of its greatest structure and supreme symbol, the cathedral of Notre-Dame, is the haunting drama of Quasimodo, the disabled bell-ringer of Notre-Dame, as he struggles to stand up to his ableist guardian Claude Frollo, who also wants to commit genocide against Paris’ Romani population.

I need to be honest here and admit that when I was getting into reading this book, I was fully prepared to not like this book because I felt like it wasn’t one of the books I typically love to read. But now that I have finally read this one, I gotta say that I love this book a lot. But as always I will explain everything in this review.

First of all the story in this book is very very good. It has the gothic vibe to it which I always cant help myself but love, and we also get French in the 1480s which also made me like this book more.

There is something about the story which really made it very fun and interesting for me to read it even thou this book isn’t one of the books I typically love. The story has an amazing gothic atmosphere and the story is like a bitter sweet tragedy themed.

The story is very tragedy, but it doesn’t fail to be interesting, enjoyable and very attention grabbing. While I was reading this book I couldn’t stop reading it and if I wasn’t reading this book I just couldn’t stop thinking about this book and what would happen next in the story.

The characters in this book are so very well made. Which really made me give this book some extra points for doing that. Every character in this book has a lot of personality to them which I personally like I lot and it makes me always give the book extra points for.

The main character is so amazing. He’s very different from the typical main character I’ve got to know in other books. The main character struggles with good and bad a lot, and he is disabled. He is also half-blind and almost completely deaf which isn’t the dream life we image our typical main character to have in the end.

But at the same time the main character but also the rest of the characters in this book are very complex which make them feel like real human beings rather than fictional characters in a book which were written a very long time ago

The narrative of this book is very very good. Because it sucks you right into the plot and it doesn’t let your attention and interest go until the very end of this book.  Which for me personally doesn’t happen a lot.

The ending of this book is very powerful and just wow. I cant say much about it without spoiling the ending for those of you who haven’t read the book yet but are interested in doing so. But let me tell you that the ending is very tragic but at the same time very good which makes worth reading this book which is over 550+ pages long (or at least the edition of this book I got was over 550+ long).

The writing style which this book got is very good, and it makes the the whole story and characters feel more time era appropriate. Since this book has a lot of old English writing in it which for me is either a hit or a miss, but in this book it was a big hit for me personally.

Let me start this review by saying that this one is just a preview for the entire comic book. And I read it because I wanted to see if the full comic book was worth the money and time I would spend on it. And I’m gonna give you the answer for that at the end of this review.

This previews sets the stage for a very good plot with huge potential about a thrilling tale filled with mystery and depth. Which I really liked a lot because the potential was used and the plot is very good even though it has some weak parts here and there.

The plot in this preview is engage and is a good blend of elements of suspense and drama. The narrative is well-paced in this preview. But the down side of this preview is that it is providing just enough detail to intrigue us while leaving us eager for more.

The characters in this preview are introduced with depth and complexity to them. Which I personally found to be very good because this preview actually was able to get me invested in the character journeys of all the characters in this preview.

The preview hints at rich backstories and motivations, promising further development in the full version of this comic book.

The artwork in this preview really dies stand out a lot because of how good it had captured the tone and mood of the story which really played well together.

The illustrations in this preview are very detailed and atmospheric, which in a way are enhancing the suspenseful and dramatic elements of the narrative.

This preview gives us the themes of mystery, identity, and redemption which really played well together with the storyline of this preview. At the same time the themes of this preview offered us both entertainment and substance. The themes of this preview are very thoughtfully presented, adding a layer of depth that resonated with me personally which made me add some point to this preview.

So will buy and read the full version of this comic book ? Yes I will. It might take some time for me to actually read the full version of this comic book because I have been way too optimistic when creating my TBR list for this year and I dont know if I get the time to read the full version of this comic book this year. “The Call of the Wild” By Jack London Review

Life is good for Buck in Santa Clara Valley, where he spends his days eating and sleeping in the golden sunshine. But one day a treacherous act of betrayal leads to his kidnap, and he is forced into a life of toil and danger. Dragged away to be a sledge dog in the harsh and freezing cold Yukon, Buck must fight for his survival. Can he rise above his enemies and become the master of his realm once again?

Let me start this review by saying that I love books where an animal is the main character. And this book delivers why I love books with this topic.

I gotta say that this book was very depressing for me to read because of how people treat this dog who is the main character of this book. Buck gets kidnapped, beaten, forced to be a sledge dog in a harsh cold Yukon. I mean you get possible get more cruel than this to a cute dog.

I need to admit there were a lot of time where I wanted to beat the shit out of the people who were monsters to Buck because like I don’t understand how fucked up of a person you have to be, to be so cruel to an animal.

Because of the fact that this book was able to get such emotions from me, means that I was very invested in the story and in this book.

The story of this book was very good, interesting, enjoyable and it grabs your attention and doesn’t let it go until the very end of the book.  Yes the story has some very heavy topics but at the same time thats the reason why I liked this book so much as I do after reading it.

The characters here are very good, because they have a lot of personality and feel like real human beings even thou I wanted to murder most of them over how they treated Buck in this book.

Buck is an amazing main character, and I really wish that we would get more characters like Buck in books. Where the main character is a animal and goes through a lot of shit in their lives. Because thats the recipe of how to get my attention and truly like the book.

The writing style, is pretty old English since it was published over 110 years ago, but in my opinion this book is one of the books where the old English only helps the book to be better rather than making the entire book feel like torture as you read it.

This book is also very good read for all ages not only for adults, because I watched a movie adaptions of this book when I was a kid and I remember loving the movie. And after finally reading the book, I gotta say that I love this book much more than I loved the movie based of this book which I watched when I was a kid.

“Trout: Preview” By Ben Magid &  Bong Abad Review

10-Page Preview! Trout is the story of a 9-year-old boy and the monster sent to protect him. It centers on a virus created to eradicate the monster gene, and has the power to turn man to monster and monster to man. Under attack, the scientist who created this Final Solution injects it into his son in order to hide it. Now, everyone wants it and will do anything to get their hands on it.

Let me start this review by saying that this one is just a preview for the entire comic book. And I read it because I wanted to see if the full comic book was worth the money and time I would spend on it. And I’m gonna give you the answer for that at the end of this review.

This preview gives us a very good and compelling storyline which is centered around a unique blend of fantasy and adventure. Which I personally liked a lot because I found it to be very intriguing and interesting.

The concept in this preview gives us in a way a fresh and engaging concept which really worked a lot for me to get me interested in it and get me hooked to this preview.

The narrative of this preview is well-paced. And the narrative does effectively set the stage for what promises to be an exciting journey.

The characters in this preview have a lot of personality and depth to them which makes them really stand out and be memorable.

The main character in this preview stands out with him having a distinct voice and motivation. Which really made me like him a lot.

This one is only preview which means that it only scratches the surface. But at the same time it lays a solid foundation for further character development in full version of this comic book.

The artwork is very good, because it brings the fantastical elements to life with vibrant and detailed illustrations. At the same time the visuals complement the story beautifully, enhancing the overall atmosphere and immersing readers in the world which this preview tries to paint.

But at the same time the storyline of this preview have some issues here and there. Because at times it feels like the scenes we get seem like they belong together and to be a coherent story.

This preview gives us the themes of exploration and self-discovery which I found to be very interesting. Because the themes offer us both entertainment and depth which the full version of this comic book. The themes of this preview offer us a glimpse of the well-executed themes which also have a rich layer which the full version of this comic book has.

So will buy and read the full version of this comic book ? Yes I will. It might take some time for me to actually read the full version of this comic book because I have been way too optimistic when creating my TBR list for this year and I dont know if I get the time to read the full version of this comic book this year. “This Is How We Do It: A Pep Talk” By Kevin Hart Review

YOU CAN DO IT. You’ve heard this advice before. Yes, of course you have. It’s straight out of the self-help bible. But wait. Are you ready to hear it from a guy who’s made so many mistakes he could fill eighteen other books about them? A guy who went to community college for exactly two weeks and earned a degree in nothing? A guy who wore long tights for a marathon?

To be very honest here I had very little expectations for this book, since its a self-help book and I am very skeptical to self-help books written by celebrities since celebrities are very detected from reality as it goes. But after reading this book I gotta say that its actually very good but I’m gonna explain why I mean here throughout this review.

This book isn’t the type of self-help book which well researched, it is more what the tittle of the book says which is a Pep talk if you will. Reading this book feels more like having a conversations rather than reading a self-help book which tries to motivate you. Which made me give this book some extra points.

This book is a very quick read. At the same time it is a fun and good read even they you can tell it isn’t well researched but rather what Kevin Hart have learned throughput his life in the comedy industry and acting industry. So it means that this book doesn’t hav the same professional aspect to it as the majority of self-help books out there which really in my opinion only added more to this book. Since as I said above it makes this book fun to read.

This book does a very good job at motivating you to actually do the hard work and make changes in your life in the areas you aren’t satisfied with in your life. Which really a lot of self-help books Ive read in my day fails to do so and bombards you just scientific jargon which really doesn’t help you. But this book is positively different from the majority of the self-help book.

Some of the writing in this book is not the greatest. Its not bad nor is it good. The writing style is simple and easy to read. But a lot of times the writing style feels like something you would use when you talk with one of your good friends rather than writing a self-help book for the rest of humanity to read.

All the solution to get a better life presented in this book are very realistic and very easy to achieve if you sett your mind to. Which really made me give this book a few extra points when rating it.

“The Tell-Tale Heart and Other Writings” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

Edgar Allan Poe remains the unsurpassed master of works of mystery and madness in this outstanding collection of Poe’s prose and poetry are sixteen of his finest tales

Let me give you a quick explanation of why I’m again reviewing Edgar Allan Poe. In December I got an Kindle, and I was playing around with it and I say that this e-book was for free on the “Prime Reading” category so I decided to read the short stories and poem of EAP (Edgar Allan Poe) because I really enjoyed reading his work the first time around. So I decided to review this book because some of my opinion about the EAP’s work included in this book have changed.

This book contains The Tell-Tale Heart, The Black Cat, The Cask of Amontillado, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death, The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar, Ligeia, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Purloined Letter, A Descent into the Maelstrom, The Pit and the Pendulum, Ms. Found in a Bottle, The Premature Burial, William Wilson, Eleonara, Silence-A Fable, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym, Stanzas, Romance, To Helen, Israfel, The City in the Sea, The Sleeper, The Valley of Unrest, Lenore, The Raven, A Valentine, Ulanume-A Ballad, For Annie, Annabel Lee, The Bells & Alone.

The last time I read anything by EAP was in 2021, which is now solid 4 years ago and I need to be honest here and admit that majority of the stories and poems in this book have been much better now on re-reading them than what I felt about them back in 2021 when I read them for the first time.

The reason behind it might be that my opinions, thoughts, likes and dislikes changed in those 4 years or the amount of books ive read in those 4 years have affected me without me realizing it.

Of course if you want me to re-read all of EAP’s work again and re-review them then let me now in the comments because now I would have given them different ratings and different opinions in the reviews than what I did on the first read of them.

But I gotta say that this book surprised me a lot, because it gave me the joy of being a new reader back in 2020 and 2021 and why I decided to start this website to talk about the books, short stories and poems ive read and maybe help people decide what books, short stories or poems they should pick up and which once they shouldn’t.

Yes after reading this book, I come to the realization that EAP is easily one of my top 5 authors (so far in my life at least.)

“The Sun Down Motel” By Simone St. James review

Upstate NY, 1982. Every small town like Fell, New York, has a place like the Sun Down Motel. Some customers are from out of town, passing through on their way to someplace better. Some are locals, trying to hide their secrets. Viv Delaney works as the night clerk to pay for her move to New York City. But something isn’t right at the Sun Down, and before long she’s determined to uncover all of the secrets hidden.

I gotta admit that this book had surprised me a lot because I didn’t think it would have been as good as it is. I need to say that this book is easily the best book I’ve read last year.

However dont buy into the fact on Goodreads that this book has a huge ghost story in it. Yes there are a few moments where the ghosts comes into the plot. But those moments are very rare and the majority of this book is a investigation about what happened to the main character’s aunt a few decades before.

In this book we get to follow 2 perspectives, one perspective takes place in 1982 and we follow Vivian (aunt) and the second perspective takes place in 2017 and we follow Carly (niece). Both of the perspective takes place in Sun Down motel and the town where the sun down motel is located in.

I think the two perspectives helped me to like this book as much as I did. Because it makes it more interesting because we get two see the story through 2 different perspectives and we can learn the story through Vivian and Carly.

The characters in this book are very good. Because all the characters have a lot of personality to them and they are very unique in their own way. All the characters have they own quirks and something which makes them really relatable.

The writing style in this book is very good, because its like the author knew what words to use to completely grab my attention and to not let it go until the very end of this book.

I need to admit that there were some moments in this book which dragged for too long, which made the book boring at times.

The ending of this book has huge twist to it, but the twist in my opinion wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. Of course I cant say what the twist is but it really killed of the mood a little bit. I don’t know if it was me but I could see the the plot twist at the end coming from chapters away.

“Batman: The Ten Cent Adventure” By Greg Rucka & Dave Johnson Review

This kick-off to the 12-part ”Bruce Wayne: Murderer?” storyline is a one-shot you can’t afford to miss! When Batman responds to a series of crimes, little does he know that a crime is also occurring in the one place in the world he considers safe–his home!

I gotta say that this comic book is probably the best comic book I’ve read so far in my life. But at the same time I gotta admit that I haven’t read a lot of comic books so far in my life.

This comic book is a very quick read and Ive read it under 20 minutes. Which really surprise me.

But even thou this book is a quick read, it doesn’t mean its bad. Its actually the opposite of that. This comic books is very good because in a way it captures the essence of batman and how it was like watching “Batman: The Animated Series” as a kid for the first time and getting sucked into the world of superheroes.

This comic books takes us in a way under the mask of batman, and actually how it is for Bruce Wayne to be the Batman where most comic books about bantam focuses on the action of Batman rather than psychology of batman.

If you are planing to start your journey into superhero comic books then I would easily recommend to anyone to start with this one.
