“Heir to the Empire” By Timothy Zahn Review

It is a time of renewal, five years after the destruction of the Death Star and the defeat of Darth Vader and the Empire. But with the war seemingly won, strains are beginning to show in the Rebel Alliance. New challenges to galactic peace have arisen. And Luke Skywalker hears a voice from his past. A voice with a warning. Beware the dark side. The Rebel Alliance has destroyed the Death Star, defeated Darth Vader and the Emperor, and driven the remnants of the old Imperial Starfleet back into barely a quarter of the territory that they once controlled. Leia and Han are married, are expecting Jedi twins, and have shouldered heavy burdens in the government of the new Republic. And Luke Skywalker is the first in a hoped-for new line of Jedi Knights.

This book have totally blown my mind because it was so fucking good. And I gotta say that is the best book to start your Star Wars book journey if you haven’t read any star wars books.

If you have seen the original trilogy which was realised in the late 70s and early 80s you should be able to pin up this book without being confused on what is happening in this book.

In this book we get the OG characters which get even better than the movies because we get to learn more about them and we get to follow their adventures after the original trilogy.

We get also introduced to some new characters like Mara Jade which is one of my favourite characters from the star wars books because of her journey from the dark side to being an Jedi.

Overall we get amazing and strong characters. And all of them have something unique to them which I love when it happens.

The plot here is just wow. It is super amazing and I couldn’t pull myself away from the book. There is so much action here and we get a lot of our OG characters in this book which I’ve loved.

The writing style here is complete amazing. It felt like it was written by George Lucas but of course it wasn’t. I need to give the author extra points for making this book feel like the original trilogy and not like trash which Disney is turning star wars to.

“Star Wars: The Mandalorian Junior Novel” By Joe Schreiber Review

After the fall of the Empire but before the emergence of the First Order, a lone bounty hunter known as The Mandalorian travels the outer reaches of the galaxy. When his newest bounty hunting target turns out to be a small Child, the Mandalorian decides the Child must be protected at all costs. Relive all the excitement of the first season of the smash-hit streaming series in this action-packed junior novel by Joe Schreiber! Includes an insert of color photos from the show!

If you love The Mandalorian series as much as I do than you will love this book as well. This book is the novelisations of the first season of the series.

This book is very quick to read, it’s interesting, its enjoyable and so much more. This book is as well a very easy read because this book is meant for kids between the ages of 9 and 12 if I remember correctly. But the age doesn’t matter as long as you are a star wars fan as I am.

The plot here is the same as in season one of The Mandalorian. Some moments from the series aren’t in the book, but the plot itself is there in this book. Because of some moments from the show aren’t here in the book it makes this book a little less fun than the show but still it is worth the time and money.

The characters here are the same as in The Mandalorian series. But to be honest the characters are better done in the show than in this book but I still loved the characters and their development during the book.

However there are couple of moments here and there where this book gives us a little extra insight into the characters as it goes on. There aren’t a lots of these moments but they are there.

The writing style in this book is very easy and simple as I’ve mentioned above. Because it was meant for the younger readers of the franchise. But it is good if you want to turn of your brain and do something fun while relaxing after a difficult day.

“The End” By Lemony Snicket Review

The last volume of the fabulously popular A Series of Unfortunate Events series, in which the history of the Baudelaire orphans is brought to its end. You are presumably looking at the back of this book, or the end of the end. The end of the end is the best place to begin the end, because if you read the end from the beginning of the beginning of the end to the end of the end of the end, you will arrive at the end of the end of your rope.

Here we are, at the moment which I’ve dreaded which of course is the last book in the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” series.

I need to say that this book have disappointed me a lot because the ending we got for the entire series wasn’t good enough. After reading 13 books in 2 weeks I was expecting something more than what we actually got.

However this book have illumined some aspects which we were waiting to get since the beginning. Which in a way made me love this book a lot.

The action in this book takes place on an island in the middle of nowhere. Which was a place which was very good for the ending of this fantastic series.

The fate which Count Olaf got, really disappointed me because I was expecting something worse happen to him. But still it was good enough of a fate I suppose.

The characters here, you can truly see how much Violet, Klaus and Sunny have changed since book one in this series.

The character development in this book was huge, and it might be the reason why I loved this book so much.

To be fully honest here this book is strange, because it was good but at the same time it felt like there was something missing in it.

But also not knowing what happens to Violet, Klaus and Sunny after this book, really kills me in a way.

“The Penultimate Peril” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader, If this is the first book you found while searching for a book to read next, then the first thing you should know is that this next-to-last book is what you should put down first. Sadly, this book presents the next-to-last chronicle of the lives of the Baudelaire orphans, and it is next-to-first in its supply of misery, despair, and unpleasantness.

This book is the 12th book in the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” series. Which really makes me sad because it means that there is only one book left in this series.

The action in this book is very very very high. There is a lot of happening. Because all the bad people Violet, Klaus and Sunny met since book one makes an return in this book. And oh boy, this book does really hit another level of sadness.

Violet, Klaus and Sunny has to join forces with Count Olaf to escape the hotel which this book takes place. Because there is an angry mob after Violet, Klaus, Sunny and Count Olaf.

Count Olaf in this book break up with Esmé Squalor and he leaves behind her and that little brat Carmelita Spats. Let’s hope that we won’t see these two insufferable characters in the last book in this amazing series.

In this book the plot is very thick and heavy. Because finally in this book Violet, Klaus and Sunny mets someone from the VFD and they are even put to do a special mission for them to take down Count Olaf. But of course as you might expect the mission doesn’t go along the plan.

Violet, Klas and Sunny feels like an adult even thou 2 of them are teens and Sunny is a baby. That’s just shows the character development and all the things they have been through since the first book.

To be fully honest here, this book is the most complex book in this series so far. And I need to say that this book might be my favourite book in this series but we still have one book to go in this series so a lot of things might change in that time.

“The Grim Grotto” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader,  Unless you are a slug, a sea anemone, or mildew, you probably prefer not to be damp. You might also prefer not to read this book, in which the Baudelaire siblings encounter an unpleasant amount of dampness as they descend into the depths of despair, underwater.

This book is the 11th book in the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” series. And I really hate the fact that I only have 2 books left until I finish this series. I don’t want this to happen because I love this series so much.

To be fully honest, the action in this book is very high. And I loved it. The action in this book takes place under the water.

And this book almost destroyed my life, when sunny was infected by a fast working virus. I wouldn’t have cried for years if Sunny have died. And that shows how much I love Violet, Klaus and Sunny.

This book has a huge life lesson in it, and this life lesson is that “People aren’t either wicked or noble”. And we learn this lesson from no other than the hook-handed man from Count Olaf’s trop. I didn’t expect it to come from him.

In this book we truly learn of truly insufferable Carmelita Spats is. Really can’t understand how Count Olaf stand her. If I was him I would have throw her off the submarine within minutes.

To be fully honest I didn’t love this book as the rest of the book in the series. But still this book is amazing in my opinion of course.  Which is really sad for me to say, because now thus book is the 3rd books which really disappointed in a way in this series.

“The Slippery Slope” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader, Like handshakes, house pets, or raw carrots, many things are preferable when not slippery. Unfortunately, in this miserable volume, I am afraid that Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire run into more than their fair share of slipperiness during their harrowing journey up–and down–a range of strange and distressing mountains. In order to spare you any further repulsion, it would be best not to mention any of the unpleasant details of this story, particularly a secret message, a toboggan, a deceitful map, a swarm of snow gnats, a scheming villain, a troupe of organized youngsters, a covered casserole dish, and a surprising survivor of a terrible fire.

This is the 10th book in the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” series. After finishing this book I relied that I have only 3 books left in this series.

But I also relied that Sunny, isn’t the same character as she was in the first book because she has grown a lot since the first book. She walks in this book and she is developing her talent. Violet is the engineer, Klaus is the researcher and sunny is the chief. I completely love the fact that Sunny is developing her own talent.

The beginning of this book was a little bit slow, to be fully honest. But it quickly made up for the fact.

To be fully honest I didn’t love this book as the rest of the book in the series. But still this book is amazing in my opinion of course.

The action in this book is lower than in the precious books, but it is still there. And it is still incredible fun to follow the action in this book just to see where it will takes us.

The characters are still as amazing as in the previous books in this series. If you compare this book and the first book then you can truly see the character development happening for Violet, Klaus and Sunny.

After finishing this book, I’ve realised that the books are getting longer and longer. And I love this fact because I can spend longer time on this series.

In this book we learn the meaning of VFD, and we meet a new amazing character which of course is Quigley. But also Carmelita Spats makes a return in this book and she joins no other than Count Olaf and his Co of weird people.

“The Carnivorous Carnival” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear reader, The word “carnivorous,” which appears in the title of this book, means “meat-eating,” and once you have read such a bloodthirsty word, there is no reason to read any further. This carnivorous volume contains such a distressing story that consuming any of its contents would be far more stomach-turning than even the most imbalanced meal.

This book is the 9th book in the “A Series of Unfortunate Events” series. Which is one of the best series ever written in my opinion.

In this book Violet, Klaus and Sunny creating their own adventure after hitting in the trunk of Count Olaf’s car. And this time the action take place at freak show carnival.

The adventure in this book is amazing, every detail of it, grabs your attention more and more. And you won’t be able to stop reading it.

The adventure here, is interesting, enjoyable but also very sad. Just as the 8 previous book in this series.

The freak show carnival in this book, isn’t a “freak show carnival” because all the staff there are just normal human beings which some talents, like being very good at gymnastics.

The women which we meet in this book runs the carnival. And she is very complex character because she wants to be a good person and help Violet, Klaus and Sunny but she has a very unique life motto which is “give people what they want” so of course she ends up being manipulated by Count Olaf and tell him that the orphans are actually working at the carnival in disguise.

The characters in this book are so good. I know that I say the same things about the characters in this series during every review. But it really is true. Somehow the author is able to see what the readers like about the characters and build onto it so that we will fall in love with them more and more with each book in this series.

The writing style is so amazing. It feels like you see the story happening with your own eyes rather than reading a book.

Ive noticed after finishing this book that the series gets better and better which each book. When you think that this series can’t get any better, it does get better with the next book you read in this series.

“The Hostile Hospital” By Lemony Snicket Review

There is nothing to be found in the pages of these books but misery and despair. You still have time to choose something else to read. But if you must know what unpleasantries befall the charming and clever Baudelaire children read on…The Hostile Hospital – There are many pleasant things to read about, but this book contains none of them. Within its pages are such burdensome details as a suspicious shopkeeper, unnecessary surgery, heartshaped balloons, and some very starling news about a fire. Clearly you do not want to read about such things.

I need to admit that I almost gave this book a 4 star rating. Because this book is much weaker than the previous 7 books in this series.

The plot in this book goes much darker than in the previous books. Because in this book Count Olaf and his Co, are trying to decapitated Violet’s head as one of his get-rich schemes.

The character are so amazing. They are even better than they were in the first book in this series. You can truly see the character development happen in each book which is the most satisfying thing to see in this series.

The writing style in this book, as in this series as a whole (so far) is incredible. Its so good, that I can’t even put words to it. You really have to read this series to really understand what I’m talking about.

However this book is different from the previous book. Because we don’t see count Olaf personally in this book but rather him talking through an intercom and ordering is trop to do the work for him.

In this book Violet, Klaus and Sunny or on the Run because the newspapers have painted them as as murders. So this is a unique turn of events for this series.

And the ending is well unique. Because Violet, Klaus and Sunny decide to do a very stupid and brave thing. Which I would never do if I was in their situation. Of course I can’t say what I’m talking about because I don’t want to give spoiler in this review.

“The Complete Sherlock Holmes” By Arthur Conan Doyle Review

This fantastic collection is accompanied by an exciting new introduction from Robert Ryan, a writer who’s own book has been fully endorsed by the Conan Doyle Estate. A big Holmes fan himself, he will undoubtedly provide a fascinating new look at the detective and his bizarre ability to read both people and objects, in order to discover who dunnit.

This book is the ultimate book gift for every book worm and lover.

This book contains all Sherlock Holmes books and short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Each of these stories and books I’ve already reviewed last year so feel free to read them if you are interested.

All of the stories in this book are very enjoyable. Of course some all less great than others but they all are worth your time and the money which you spend on this book.

Sherlock Holmes and doctor Watson are an amazing due and I loved they both because they have something in them which makes us relate to them.

The writing style here was amazing and really shows how good author sir Arthur Conan Doyle was.

There could be more illustrations in this book just to make it better good looking as a whole but still I don’t complain.

“The Vile Village” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader, You have undoubtedly picked up this book by mistake, so please put it down. Nobody in their right mind would read this particular book about the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire on purpose, because each dismal moment of their stay in the village of V.F.D. has been faithfully and dreadfully recorded in these pages. I can think of no single reason why anyone would want to open a book containing such unpleasant matters as migrating crows, an angry mob, a newspaper headline, the arrest of innocent people, the Deluxe Cell, and some very strange hats. It is my solemn and sacred occupation to research each detail of the Baudelaire children’s lives and write them all down, but you may prefer to do some other solemn and sacred thing, such as reading another book instead.

To be fully honest, in my opinion has to be the weakest book in the series so far. But I still loved it but a little bit less than the previous 6 books in the series

This book really surprised me a lot because this book in a way left the whole Olaf chasing after the kids topic a little bit behind in this book. And this book was rather a Hot Fuzz situation, where the entire town used Violet, Klaus and Sunny as slaves to do the houses of everyone in town. The house work which Violet, Klaus and Sunny had to do, was take out the garbage, clean the fountain in town centre etc.

As I’ve said the plot was a different from the previous 6 books, which maybe is the reason why I loved this book less than the previous books. But I still had my fun with it, and I kept waiting for when would Count Olaf show up in town.

In this book we get very little of Count Olaf and his Co. To be fully honest we see Count Olaf in the last 3 chapters or so.

After reading this book I was left with 2 questions. The first question is how does Count Olaf always know where Violet, Klaus and Sunny are? And the second question is how does Count Olaf get the ideas for new schemes and new disguises ?

In this book, Klaus has his birthday, he is finally 13 if I remember correctly. Of course his birthday wasn’t ideal. To be fully honest if I had a birthday like his I would be pissed. But that pretty much summarise up this entire series doesn’t it? Being followed by unfortunate and very sad events isn’t the best.
