“Imitation” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

The speaker in the poem regrets his past mistakes which causes him to speak in a bitter tone. The poet indicates that although the speaker was unable to fulfill his dreams, he decided to forget about the past and cherish his future.

This poem needs to get points for its flow throughout the whole poem.

This one is sort of one of these poems which you will enjoy it every time you read it.

This poem is short and pretty sharp in its plot which makes this poem to even more fun thing to read.

However the whole plot and backstory to this poem didn’t appeal to me. Which might be the reason why I rated this poem so poorly as I did.

For the most part this little poem is quite descent and enjoyable.  Even though the writing style could be a little bit better.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“The Happiest Day, The Happiest Hour” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This poem is about Edgar Allan Poe following his passion and realizing that it will not be easy. The happiest moment Edgar Allan Poe felt was the moment when his pride and power were at their highest.

This one for the most part is a simple, little poem. Which can be read in 2 minutes or so.

This poem I need to say that it packs a punch of stuff in it which every Edgar Allan Poe fan will enjoy.

This poem will make you think about various things.

It is sort of a typical love poem with gothic and dark vibe to it.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“Eulalie” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

The poem is a bridal song about a man who overcomes his sadness by marrying the beautiful Eulalie.

For the most part it was a decent poem from Edgar Allan Poe. However it is far from his best poems.

I had sort of hard time with connecting with the story in this poem, and with the poem as a whole thing.

As someone who have read almost every poem and short story written by Edgar Allan Poe I need to say that I prefer much more when he writing about specific topics.

In my opinion this poem didn’t have the gothic vibe which almost every poem and short story to Edgar Allan Poe has. Which really takes the wind out of this poem.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“Dream-land” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This one describes a traveler’s experiences in an alternative world in which ghosts and ghouls haunt a cold and terrifying landscape. … It is ruled by a single, kingly spirit but contains many ghouls and dark angels. As the speaker moves through the landscape, nothing is as it should be.

This one was again pretty decent. It wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good.

Need to say that this one was sort of a descriptive and slightly eerie walk in the mind of Edgar Allan Poe.

This poem also needs to get points for its prose which is amazing.

And the rich descriptions are just amazing.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“A Valentine” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This is a lyrical poem, written in the form of acrostic. Other than a poem, “A Valentine” is actually a riddle that Edgar Allan Poe made to reveal his secret lover.

This one is a poem meant for a secret lover that Edgar Allan Poe.

I personally had really hard time connecting or even liking this story. And for the most part this poem didn’t appeal to me.

This poem felt like lines in this poem was thrown in together without any logical thinking behind it.

But I need to give this poem points for being sort of mysterious in a way.

It was short and really easy to read.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“Dreams” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This one describes a speaker waking and dreaming state and the brief moments of light and hope he experiences. The speaker begins this piece by introducing a dark dream that he was subject to. This dream, and the emotions he experienced during it, are not unfamiliar to him.

This one was another one written by Edgar Allan Poe which left me very conflicted when I was about to write this review.

I didn’t like it at the beginning when the story was just starting out, but I liked the way this poem came together at the end.

Its an interesting read but somehow I just couldn’t bring myself to give this poem a higher rating.

For the most part this whole poem is about the difference between dreams and reality. Dreams are joyful and full of hope; reality is dreary and painful. Dreams are warm and sunny, the reality is cold, grim and dark.

The writing style was on point with Edgar Allan Poe, which means that it was very good.

This one is for sure a must read for anyone who calls themselves a “Edgar Allan Poe fan”

I give this poem 2 / 5

“Deep In Earth” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This one  is more than a metaphysical thought, but also speaks to the reality of the moment. Deep in earth is where we console ourselves that our loved one’s body is safe. But in reality, deep in earth is simply a way to take the waste of life from our sight.

This one has only 2 lines which is pretty much the shortest poem in the world. But it also makes this one hard to review because of its shortness.

This poem needs to get points for having only 2 lines but still being able to pack a punch with their directness and simplicity.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“For Annie” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This one describes the role of “Annie” or Nancy Heywood in the poet’s life when he was struggling with the fever called “Living”. This long poem written in the praise of “Annie” presents how the poet felt before his recovery from his mental agony.

For this one I really had mixed feelings about this one but also to the entire poetry of Edgar Allan Poe.

I enjoyed read this poem but it wasn’t that good as you might expect.

However I need to give this poem points for pulling you into the poem and leaving it lingering in your mind once you finished.

This one is a perplexing love poem that sort of makes you think.

The writing style was pretty decent but as someone who have read almost every short story and poem by Edgar Allan Poe I need to say that he was able to do a better job.

But as someone who calls himself “Edgar Allan Poe fan” it is a must read as any other poem and short story.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“To My Mother” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This is a devotional sonnet in which Poe describes his feelings for his own mother and the mother of his wife. … This woman is more dear to him than his own mother, mostly due to the fact that she is responsible for the creation of Virginia. It is through her that his heart was filled.

To be honest this one is a e beautiful and sincere ode poem to Edgar Allan Poe’s mother-in-law.

For the most part this is a pretty decent poem.

The story behind poem is the best part of this whole poem.

This poem at the beginning is amazing, but then it starts running down hill.

The writing style is pretty poor but there are some good lines and parts.

I give this poem 2 / 5
