“You Should See Me in a Crown” By Leah Johnson Review

Liz Lighty has always believed she’s too black, too poor, too awkward to shine in her small, rich, prom-obsessed midwestern town. But it’s okay — Liz has a plan that will get her out of Campbell, Indiana, forever: attend the uber-elite Pennington College, play in their world-famous orchestra, and become a doctor.

This book is a good example on why you should trust Tik Tok on anything especially on the books topics. Ive seen this book going around on Bok Took since it first came out, and let me be honest with you this book isn’t worth all recommendations which it gets nor is it worth your time or money which you will spend on this book.

The whole book revolves about high school prom, I personally were never a fan of high school proms or high school in general, so of course having the main topic of this book being high school prom wouldn’t go well with me.

The plot in this book was very boring and uninteresting, and at a lot of moment sit was very cringy, as you would expect from a book revolving around high school prom.

The characters in this book were very generic characters, and they felt like the same character because they didn’t have personality or anything which would make them stand out from the rest of the characters.

There was one character which was always around, but still I cant remember who she was or what was her deal with always being around. She was very annoying and sort of a creep because she always there when anything happened at the high school.

All of the characters in this book are also very inconsistently written, that it starts to be funny. Because there were a lot of moments where 2 characters would have this huge fight over something stupid and then in the next sentence they would be best friends and instantly forget about the fight they just had.

All of the character are like 16- 17 years old but they seem like 6 and 7 year olds because they are immature and silly and joking about stupid things all the time.

The writing style here was very horrible, even for a Young adult book. Its hard to explain it because you could see that the author was trying at least to have good writing style but it just didn’t happen here

“Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” By John le Carré Review

It is now beyond a doubt that a mole, implanted decades ago by Moscow Centre, has burrowed his way into the highest echelons of British Intelligence. His treachery has already blown some of its most vital operations and its best networks. It is clear that the double agent is one of its own kind. But which one? George Smiley is assigned to identify him. And once identified, the traitor must be destroyed.

Maybe its my fault that I gave this book so low rating because starting at the 5th book in a series, is not a good choice. But to my defense I got this book as a gift and I didn’t know it was part of a series until I got started reading it.

Its important to say that I DNF-ed this book. Because I just couldn’t get into it, and reading it felt like a torture for me personally. I DNF-ed this book about half way in and what I can tell you about the plot is that it is a guy sitting at his desk all the time and looking through his papers.

The writing style and the language felt very foreign even thou it was written in English. The fact that this book was published in 1974 might have something to do with this fact.

As for the writing style itself I can say here is that is very badly written and really you will get tortured while reading this book because of the writing style-

The reason why I’ve tried to read this book in the first place is because I’ve heard that this book was the best spy book of all time. Which for me personally was far from the truth.

The other thing about this book is that it contains a lot of British words and terms as well as spy terms which aren’t explained at all. Which means that you have to look them up on the Internet which for me personally is a huge no-no.

When it comes to the plot in this book, its all but straight going. The plot in this book is boring, very confusing and very uninteresting. The plot is very difficult because when you first start reading this book you don’t have any clue about what is happening. And when you start the get the hang of the plot, all you get is the main character sitting at his desk and reading his papers.

The characters in this book are very flat and very uninteresting. I just couldn’t get myself to care about any of the characters in this book. Because they don’t have any character or any personality.

“Orlando” By Virginia Woolf Review

‘The longest and most charming love letter in literature’, playfully constructs the figure of Orlando as the fictional embodiment of Woolf’s close friend and lover, Vita Sackville-West. Spanning three centuries, the novel opens as Orlando, a young nobleman in Elizabeth’s England, awaits a visit from the Queen and traces his experience with first love as England under James I lies locked in the embrace of the Great Frost. At the midpoint of the novel, Orlando, now an ambassador in Constantinople, awakes to find that he is now a woman, and the novel indulges in farce and irony to consider the roles of women in the 18th and 19th centuries. As the novel ends in 1928, a year consonant with full suffrage for women. Orlando, now a wife and mother, stands poised at the brink of a future that holds new hope and promise for women.

Here we go again talking about a classic which didn’t work for me. Even thou 99% of the classic books I read don’t work me, I sometimes stumble across amazing books as “The Great Gatsby”. But this book is very far from that in my opinion.

Even thou I didn’t have a lot of exceptions for this book, I still managed some how to get disappointed in this book. I hear a lot of both good and bad about this book. And after having reading this one I can honestly say that it is truly bad in my opinion.

The copy I got of this book has 298 pages, and all of these pages were descriptions of things that were happening and doing so the author of this book forgot about the plot.

The plot in this book is almost none existing, I write this book 2 days after finishing this book and I can fully say that I don’t know what this book was about because the amount of descriptions in this book over rule the plot in this book.

However the writing style in this book was very very good which truly made me happy because it was the only good thing about this book in my opinion.

When it comes to the characters in this book, I can tell you that they are very flat, boring and you wont remember them after finishing this book. Even during reading this book I couldn’t name even one character that was in this book.

A lot of people on the internet call this book “the longest and most charming love-letter in literature”, but if I received a love letter like this, I would beat the shit of the person who wrote that letter to me. Because it was so awful and it didn’t make any sense to me.

This book was my first book written by Virginia Wolf, and if the rest of her work are like this one, I wont continue my adventure with her work.

“The Redbreast” By Jo Nesbø Review

The Redbreast is a chilling tale of murder and betrayal that ranges from the battlefields of World War Two to the streets of modern-day Oslo. Follow Hole as he races to stop a killer and disarm a ticking time-bomb from his nation’s shadowy past. Vogue magazine says that “nobody can delve into the dark, twisted mind of a murderer better than a Scandinavian thriller writer”…and nobody does it better than Jo Nesbø! James Patterson fans should also take note.

This book is the third book in the “Harry Hole” series. And I got to say that this really disappointed me further than the second book in this series.

Even thou the second book in this series in my opinion was bad, some how this book this book is even worse than the second book in this series.

This book has two plot lines with sort of creates a mystery for Harry Hole to solve. The first plot line is the modern day Oslo, Norway. And the second plot line was Oslo, Norway during WW2 time period. For me personally those two plot lines made it confusing and when the plot lines were switching made me lose interest in this book.

The character even Harry Hole were flat, boring and uninteresting. Which really pissed me off, because in the first book in this series, I completely loved Harry Hole, and seeing his character getting watered down like this in this book, really hurt my heart.

This book contains a lot of characters, which really makes it hard to keep track of every character because all of the characters we get in this book seem like the same character without anything which makes them unique or something which will set them apart from the rest of the characters.

The writing style here was not the greatest I’ve seen in this series, its not quite bad but it isn’t neither good.

The twist at the end of this book was almost none existing, because the closer you got to the end, the more you could sense how this book would end. Which really pissed me off and made me what to scream at Jo Nesbø for why he done that.

During reading this book I had a lot of moments where I wanted to quite reading this book and just put it in the DNF category, but since this is the 3th book in the series I kept going until the end. To see if this book got better, but it never did.

“1:35AM” By Scott Cawthon & Andrea Waggener & Elley Cooper Review

From twisted toys to gut-wrenching games, this collection of terrifying tales is unsettling enough to mess with even the most hardened Five Nights at Freddy’s fans. In this volume, horror master Scott Cawthon spins three sinister novella-length stories from different corners of FNAF’s canon. Each story comes complete with accompanying artwork from a fan-favorite game artist to bring the horror to life in a whole new way.

I gotta be honest here and say the further I go into this series the more I don’t like it.

This book has 3 different short stories in it, which happens in the 5 nights at Freddy’s universe.

All of the 3 stories in this book drag for way too long. They all could have been at least 30 pages shorter and it would make them so much better, rather than fill the pages with events with have nothing to do but to torture the readers.

The further I go into this series the more it feels like it is a very poor parody of “are you afraid of the dark?” And “goosebumps” books.

Most of the stories in this book were focused on adults, however it they really felt like they were children because of the stupid decisions they made.

Ive said it twice before and I’m gonna say again I’m not a fan of the whole 5 nights at Freddy’s universe. And the more I read this book series the more reason I find to not like the universe.

The writing style here is very poor, and it feels like it was written by a child or an author who tries to make children love him / her.

“King Pest” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

It is about the adventure of two drunk sailors who venture into a deserted part of the city, escaping without payment from the local pub

Need to say that this story remind me of The Hangover. If The Hangover happened in the 14th century London during the Black Death pandemic.

It was pretty interesting and fun to read, but there were a lots of things which I personally didn’t like or didn’t quit understand.

The writing style was good, but not as quit gothic and dark as you might expect from Edgar Allan Poe. But still it was good.

This story was good and quick to read, but still it could have been better than it was actually was.

To be honest the entire story reminded me of something that Lewis Carroll would write and not something Edgar Allan Poe would write.

For the most part it was written nicely with some black humour in it.

“Before Watchmen: Minutemen / Silk Spectre” By Darwyn Cooke & Amanda Conner Review

The controversial, long-awaited prequels to the best-selling graphic novel of all-time are finally here: BEFORE WATCHMEN! For over twenty years, the back stories of the now-iconic characters from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s landmark graphic novel had been the subject of much debate and theorizing. Now, DC Comics has assembled the greatest creators in the industry to further paint the world of WATCHMEN, starting with this first volume starring MINUTEMEN and SILK SPECTRE

To be very honest here this comics has to be one of the weakest comic books I’ve read so far but at the same time I haven’t read that many comic books so far.

This comic book was very boring and uninteresting. At the same time it was very confusing because each chapter was different things it felt like the chapters had no correlation with each other.

And the characters felt like the authors of this comic book just doesn’t give a shit about them and they were just there to fix up the illustrations and dialogue in this comic book.

This comic book is also a good example of why prequels always fail. Because going back to the original storyline and trying to re-write details never works but what it does is to piss of the fans of the franchise which this comic books is very good at.

“Before Watchmen: Comedian/Rorschach” By Brian Azzarello & J.G. Jones & Lee Bermejo Review

The controversial, long-awaited prequels to the best-selling graphic novel of all-time are finally here: Before Watchmen ! For over twenty years, the back stories of the now iconic characters from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s landmark graphic novel have remained a mystery, until now. DC Comics has assembled the greatest creators in the industry to further paint the world of Watchmen , with this second volume starring two of the most polarizing anti-heroes ever, Comedian and Rorschach .

This Comic books has the same failures as the previous before watchmen comic we talked about.

To be very honest here this comics has to be one of the weakest comic books I’ve read so far but at the same time I haven’t read that many comic books so far.

This comic book was very boring and uninteresting. At the same time it was very confusing because each chapter was different things it felt like the chapters had no correlation with each other.

“How Much Land Does a Man Need?” By Leo Tolstoy Review

The story of a greedy peasant named Pakhom. Although Pakhom enjoys health and family happiness, he feels dissatisfied when he learns of the grand fortunes of his relatives. He decides to go on a quest for more land, only to find that with each new acquisition new problems develop… How Much Land Does A Man Need? gives a delightful insight into old Russian values

This book is a very quick read. My copy of this book has only 55 pages which means that it can be read in a hour or so.

The plot here was very weak in my opinion. Because it is very short and all the plot talks about is human greed. And how some people just want more and more in society which is true. But the way it was portrayed really makes me not like this book a lot.

The perspective here didn’t feel like something written by Tolstoy but rather it felt like something written by a new author trying to poorly write as Tolstoy.

If you never read anything written by Tolstoy then this book isn’t the place to begin the journey with him. Because this book has to be the weakest book written by him ive read so far.

I can’t say a lot about the characters in this book, because we don’t get to know them a lot in only 55 or so pages.

The writing style in this book was very weak in my opinion and well there isn’t much I can say about the writing style because we get so few pages.

“Educated” By Tara Westover Review

Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches and sleeping with her “head-for-the-hills bag”. In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father’s junkyard.

To be very honest here, I didn’t know anything about this book nor the author before going into this book. All I knew about this book was that it was very popular on Goodreads. Which might be the reason for the low rating I gave this book.

This review will be very unpopular. And this entire review is from my opinion, so if you don’t agree with anything I say here you don’t need to post some mean comments, you can just keep scrolling. This review is what I think about the book, and I know that not a lot of people will agree with me and you have to do the same just agree with the fact that not everyone will have the same opinion about as you.

I personally had very hard time reading this book because I found it boring and uninteresting but at the same time I couldn’t believe how hard time the author had while growing up in the family she has.

This book is for sure very eerie due to the emotional and physical abuse the author went through in her life on the hands of her family. Which really is terrifying how some people, who you call family can treat you like shit due to their’s believes.

Even thou I didn’t like this book, there is a part of me which doesn’t want to criticise a book of someone’s life.  But for a honest review you need to do some hard things.

This book only focused on the real bad things in the author’s life, and often skipped months at a time, which really annoyed me because its like the author is telling us that she her entire life was super bad without a single good things happening.

And the sense of intense violence which were in this book were way too frequent. She really made me point how fucked up her family is with the first of these moments and we didn’t need 50 of them to understand it.

Another things which really annoyed me about this book, was the miracles of getting back to full head when her father, mother and brother got injured. It was like on one page they were very injured and on the next page they were back to full health. And the author didn’t even bother telling us how they got back to health or anything like this. It was more like Boom and the next morning they woken up being back to full health.

Other things which I found bad about this book was her school education. She was homeschooled until she was accepted to a university. And her education at home was very, very far from a proper education. All she learned during her home school was how to read and that was it. And when she was accepted to university she was on perfect student getting As on all tests and exams. How is that possible ? Someone who only learned how to read and do some very basic math which children in kindergarten can do is randomly an A student in a university.

When I read nonfiction books or biographies I want logic and things making scenes not what happened with the author’s education in university or her family members randomly healing up over night after getting injured.

And the last thing I will mention about which really annoyed me about this book. Is that the author taken like 3 singing lessons and overnight she was the musician which everyone looked up to in town. It’s almost like the author wants us to believe that within 3 singing lessons you can go on a stage and be the next Taylor Swift.
