“The Brave Tin Soldier” By Hans Christian Andersen Review

There were once twenty-five tin soldiers, mother’s brothers. All the soldiers were exactly the same, except for one who was on one leg. He was cast last, and there was not enough tin, but he stood on his one leg so just as firmly as the others on two. And it just turned out to be the most remarkable of all.

I gotta be honest here and say that after reading all of the stories written by Hans Christian Andersen, this one wasn’t the best.

This story doesn’t have any moral, reading it as an adult isn’t as fun as it would be for a child.

All of the characters here was pretty flat, but it is acceptable because it is a short story which means we don’t have a lot of time to get to know the characters in it

The writing style here was okay. But I can’t say a lot about it because it is a short story so of course we don’t get a lot here.

I Give This Book 2 / 5

“The Little Match Girl” By Hans Christian Andersen Review

The wares of the poor little match girl illuminate her cold world, bringing some beauty to her brief, tragic life.

I gotta be honest here and say that after reading all of the stories written by Hans Christian Andersen, this one wasn’t the best.

This story doesn’t have any moral to it other than it suck to be poor.

All of the characters here was pretty flat, but it is acceptable because it is a short story which means we don’t have a lot of time to get to know the characters in it

The writing style here was okay. But I can’t say a lot about it because it is a short story so of course we don’t get a lot here.

“Dead as a Doornail” By Charlaine Harris Review

Small-town cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has had more than her share of experience with the supernatural—but now it’s really hitting close to home. When Sookie sees her brother Jason’s eyes start to change, she knows he’s about to turn into a were-panther for the first time—a transformation he embraces more readily than most shapeshifters she knows. But her concern becomes cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population, and Jason’s new panther brethren suspect he may be the shooter. Now, Sookie has until the next full moon to find out who’s behind the attacks—unless the killer decides to find her first

To be fully honest this book might be the weakest book of the series yet. This series is nothing more than soap opera with vampires, werwolves and witches.

There was very little action in this book. The most amount we got in this book was 4-5 pages at the end. Which really isn’t enough for me if you want me to read the entire book which I did with this book.

The beginning was very, very slow and there were drama there but nothing more than that. Which really made the beginnings somehow boring to me.

Even thou I didn’t enjoy this book as the previous books in this series, I still appreciated learning more about the world in this series and learn more about the characters in this series.

The characters here are getting better in this book, because we get to know them better with each book, and with every book there is more and more development which I love to see in books.

The writing style here is very typical YA style and it also very simple which it makes a good mix with the easy plot.

There are some errors in this series which I’ve noticed in this book. One of these errors I’ve noticed while reading this book is that Jason’s boss is named Shirley Hennessey in Book 4, but in this book her name is Shirley Hunter. And this fact didn’t get explained at all in this book.

“The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon” By Stephen King Review

On a six-mile hike on the Maine-New Hampshire branch of the Appalachian Trail, nine-year-old Trisha McFarland quickly tires of the constant bickering between her older brother, Pete, and her recently divorced mother. But when she wanders off by herself and then tries to catch up by attempting a shortcut, she becomes lost in a wilderness maze full of peril and terror.

To be honest I didn’t know a lot of about this book before going into it. And that turned out to be the best thing for me.

The plot here isn’t a horror but rather a thriller about a child being lost in the woods for long time. The plot is for sure eerie because the thought of a child being lost woods is really scary.

This book made me realise that I would be fucked if I was lost in the woods. I have no survival skills and I wouldn’t know what to do if I was lost in the woods other than have a full on panic attack.

The main character in this book is probably the worst character ever written by Stephen King. Her thoughts never felt like the thoughts of a nine-year-old but rather as an old veteran of camping.

The side characters here, were gone for the most of the time so I didn’t even have a chance to really pin point them or have a lot of thoughts about them other than if I like them or not. And let me tell you that I didn’t like them.

The writing style didn’t go well with me. Because it felt like Stephen King was trying way too hard to rebrand to a different genre than of the horror.

Overall I had expectations for this book because it was written by my favourite author of all time. But it didn’t live up to any of them.

I found this book boring and uninterested. This book didn’t go well with me. But there were moments which I liked. But these moments were very rare.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” By E.L. James Review

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

I never thought that I will come down to read this series. But here we are. After reading this first book in the series I need to admit that most of my suspicions about this series came true.

The characters here are very very bad. Anastasia a typical dumb college student who falls in love with a guy who is a prick and who uses his partners as sex dolls. When it comes to Christian he is a rich prick who refuses to see his own faults and who thinks that he can use women as whores as long as he buys them things.

For the most part Anastasia is annoying and very blind when it comes to Christian. She refuses to see that Christian is fucked up and that he is the worst creep. But at times she is somehow likeable, these moments made me like her a little bit.

The plot, well I don’t have to say a lot about it because most likely everyone knows the plot here. There is abuse, sex and nothing enjoyable for the most part.

At times the plot have been interesting but most of the time while I was reading it I was thinking “why am I reading it?”. That pretty much summarises my whole feeling about this book.

The writing style was the best thing about this book. It was very good, and it made this whole book so much better. The writing style made you feel like you been there and watching everything that happened rather than reading a book.

There wasn’t so much drama in this book as I’ve suspected, which really made me glad  because if it was a lot of drama in this book I would quickly DNF it.

“Billy Summers” By Stephen King Review

Billy Summers is a man in a room with a gun. He’s a killer for hire and the best in the business. But he’ll do the job only if the target is a truly bad guy. And now Billy wants out. But first there is one last hit. Billy is among the best snipers in the world, a decorated Iraq war vet, a Houdini when it comes to vanishing after the job is done. So what could possibly go wrong?

The best way to describe this book is to say that it is Stephen King’s story meeting up with Jack Reacher.

This book started off very good, but the more it went on the worse it got for me personally. Because it begins as a very good hitman story and then it turns out to this loving grandpa story where this hitman turns into this badass grandpa.

To be honest I didn’t care for the characters in this book. Because they were really like flat. Of course they had very good backstories for the most part but they weren’t speaking to me.

The writing style here was very good. It was the best part of this book for me at least. It was pretty on the level with Stephen King.

This book is a really quick read and it is good to read if you looking for a book where you can turn off your brain for a bit.

There is a big wink to The Shinning at the end of this book where the Overlook Hotel is mentioned.

“Regretting You” By Colleen Hoover Review

Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike. Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.

So I finally decided to read a Colleen Hoover book after watch all the hype with her books on TikTok for months. And I need to say that this book was what I expected it to be.

After reading this book I’ve learned that 99% of the hyped authors or books aren’t for me. Because every time I end up being disappointed in waisting my time and money.

The entire plot in this book is the husband cheating on his wife with her sister and having a kid with her. But the wife learns about this after her husband and sister get killed in a car accident. Because of this the wife stars to have an affair with her sister’s fiancé and her daughter starts to act up and become an insufferable teenager who drinks, takes drugs, is pissed all the time at everyone etc.

However I need to say that the plot was okay at times, but most of the time I wanted to DNF this book, because the majority of this book was a torture.

The characters in this book were super weak, boring and stupid. Miller and Jonah were pretty decent characters which really surprised me. Clara and Morgan the two main characters here were super insufferable. Because they made more stupid choices with each page.

Clara and Morgan truly made me feel at times that Colleen Hoover didn’t have any idea about writing a female character. And at times it felt like Colleen Hoover painted female characters in this book just as these crying maniacs who could only argue with each other and cry.

Clara was particularly an incredible bad character. She is 16 / 17 years old in this book but all the time she was super immature, and she blamed everyone else for her own mistakes. At one point she yelled and blamed her boyfriend for using her even thou she used him for sex to hurt her mother.

Morgan is the wife of the story. When she found out that her husband cheated on her with her sister and got her sister pregnant. She decided to let her 16-year-old daughter hate her and act up and do drugs and drink alcohol instead of her telling her the truth about her dad and aunt.

The writing style here was probably the best thing about this book. It wasn’t the good or even close to it. But it was far better than the plot and all of the characters in this book.

“Dead Until Dark” By Charlaine Harris Review

Sookie Stackhouse is just a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. Until the vampire of her dreams walks into her life-and one of her coworkers checks out. Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend isn’t such a bright idea.

Let me start of the review by saying that I tried watching True Blood on HBO but I wasn’t the biggest fan of it (even with Alexander Skårsgard in it) and I never watched the entire TV series. And as I’ve expected I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book either. But of course I’m gonna continue the book series.

The plot here was meh, not the greatest I’ve seen in vampire themed books. But overall it was enjoyable and somehow interesting. I’ve read this book in 24 hours so that for what you will.

The characters here was also meh, I didn’t care for what happened with the characters here because I didn’t have the connection with the characters in this book. But I found them somehow enjoyable but not interesting as I wanted while starting this book.

This book was for sure cozy and a fun read for a lazy Sunday but I really wished this book would spend more time in the beginning with Sookie and Bill and how they fall in love with each other.

Ive enjoyed the backstory to Bill but I wish we could get more of a backstory to Sookie. Because we really don’t get much about her life before meeting Bill other than that she is in her 20s, she can read minds and that she is a waitress in a small town no one really heard about.

“Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man” By Mary L. Trump Review

Mary Trump spent much of her childhood in her grandparents’ large, imposing house in the heart of Queens, where Donald and his four siblings grew up. She describes a nightmare of traumas, destructive relationships, and a tragic combination of neglect and abuse. She explains how specific events and general family patterns created the damaged man who currently occupies the Oval Office, including the strange and harmful relationship between Fred Trump and his two oldest sons, Fred Jr. and Donald.

This book is promoted as a Donald Trump biography / nonfiction book but in fact it is rather a book about the Trump family history.

This book makes some good points about how dysfunctional the Trump family might have been according to the author but it comes from a person who wasn’t the biggest fan of her family so everything is to be taken with a grain of salt.

About 60% of this book is about the author’s father but the advertisement of this book says that it is about Donald Trump. This book felt like the author trying to work through her emotional pain rather than this book being about Donald Trump.

This book started with sort of trying to psychologically diagnose Donald Trump and then in the next chapters until the last it became the Trump family history book of sorts. And the last chapter became sort of the roasting chapter from the author on how stupid, bad, childish and dysfunctional Donald Trump is. This didn’t go well with me personally which explains the low rating due to my political views but this website is neutral when it comes to politics so we won’t discuss any politics on this website.

The writing style was very light and it actually made this book fun, enjoyable, interesting, quick and easy to read. The writing style made this book more likeable in my opinion.

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid; Hard Luck” By Jeff Kinney Review

Greg Heffley’s on a losing streak. His best friend, Rowley Jefferson, has ditched him, and finding new friends in middle school is proving to be a tough task. To change his fortunes, Greg decides to take a leap of faith and turn his decisions over to chance. Will a roll of the dice turn things around, or is Greg’s life destined to be just another hard-luck story?

This book is the 8th book in the “Diary of a wimpy kid” series. And so far I continue to be disappointed in this series.

The entire plot in this book is that Greg is being followed by a dark cloud. It seems like his bad luck can get any worse until it does.

Greg and Rowley had a big argument over something stupid. So in this book they are almost enemies and because of this Greg is trying to find some new friends and it much harder to do than said.

Greg isn’t learning anything after getting into trouble, book after book. And he just continues to blame other people for being an idiot himself.

Of course Greg is 12 years old but still he shouldn’t blame everyone else but himself for his stupid plans and getting into trouble.

Another problem with this series so far at least is his parents are really bad at parenting. Because they threat Manny (Greg’s younger brother) as a god and they just end up not caring what Greg and Rodrick are doing most of the time. They only get reminded of Greg and Rodrick when they get in trouble at school or with other kid’s parents.

This book wasn’t as funny as the 4 previous books because most of the moments were pathetic.

This book has around 220 pages (depending on which edition you get) and there is at least one illustration on each page which means that this book is really quick to read. And it can be fully read in one hour or so.
