“some accounts of stonehenge, the giant’s dance” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This one isn’t a story but rather an historical article about Stonehenge written by no other than Edgar Allan Poe.

I need to say that this one is far from his normal dark fiction stories and poems Edgar Allan Poe is known for. But still it was actually much better than a lots of his other work which I have reviewed here and will probably review in the near future.

This whole piece was done pretty well and it sort of was informative as you could possibly expect from 1840 time. What I’m trying to say is that a lots of people during this time wasn’t on the top of the news, information and knowledge.

This article was sort of flavoured with a fun little twist at the end. Which was that there are twenty dancing giants at stonehenge.

This one is pretty much a must read if you want to read Edgar Allan Poe, and it is definitely worth reading.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“Berenice” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

The tale is centered on the death of a young girl, named Berenice, and the mysterious visions of her cousin, Egaeus.

So it’s another story where the narrator becomes obsessed with his cousin Berenice’s teeth. Which is a unique take on a stalker story.

It wasn’t scary but there were moments where I was close to having chillis running down my back.

The writing style is pretty amazing. There is a huge gothic and dark vibe to it. Which I love but there is also a Halloween story vibe to it which I also love.

This story also have an amazing display of symbolism, which I also Im a fan of.

But the story as a whole wasn’t that good, but the small details in it was actually pretty good.

“Mystification” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

The story tells of the Baron Ritzner Von Jung who teaches a pompous and sneering duelist a lesson by using his pseudo-learning against him.

So another bad story from Edgar Allan Poem, so here again we are talking about a bad book from Edgar Allan Poe.

I suppose this first-person narrative is called ‘Mystification’ because one of the main characters but I sort of got a shady vibe from it which made the whole story to a bad story.

The writing style was again pretty decent but not the best. The writing style wasn’t good nor bad.

It wasn’t that interesting as everyone on internet claim it to be. Which is why I dont read most of the reviews online. Because they almost always disappoint me when I finally pick up the book.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“The Devil in the Belfry” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

In an isolated town called Vondervotteimittis (wonder-what-time-it-is), the punctilious inhabitants seem to be concerned with nothing but clocks and cabbage. This methodical, boring and quiet little borough is devastated by the arrival of a devilish figure playing a big fiddle who comes straight down from a hill.

This one was a lots of better than the last story written by Edgar Allan Poe which we talked about couple of days ago.

The writing style was a lots of better, but it was far away from good. But it was okay for the most part. The writing style was pretty much a typical Edgar Allan Poe, but as a hardcore fan I know that he was able of doing a better work than he did in this story.

It was pretty much a simple story. This one was pretty interesting but not that good as a whole.

This one was also pretty bizarre in a way. But I like bizarre things so i give this story extra points for.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“The Man that was Used Up” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

The story follows an unnamed narrator who seeks out the famous war hero John A. B. C. Smith. He becomes suspicious that Smith has some deep secret when others refuse to describe him, instead remarking only on the latest advancements in technology.

This one supposed to be a humorous pastiche but it wasn’t. It isn’t the first time a humorous story from Edgar Allan Poe wasn’t humorous but rather cringe and sad.

It is a quick read and an easy read. Which are probably the best part of this story for me at least.

The writing style was bad and nothing which you would have to expect from Edgar Allan Poe.

However I need to say that this poem gives an entirely new meaning to the phrase “Used Up”.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“Sonnet — To Science” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

Science is peering, destructive and interested only in cold realities. It will not allow the poet to soar in fantasy or even to sit peacefully dreaming beneath a tree.

This poem is sort of a  beautiful poem to science, which I personally loved. I need to say that it is one of the best poems written by Edgar Allan Poe I have read so far.

The writing style here is mixed with the beauty and the gothic and dark. Which is why Edgar Allan Poe is known from and so loved for.

The poem is definitely one of the most classic poems out there which you can find.

This poem is for sure one of the must read poems by Edgar Allan Poe and from the 1800 era.

This poem is also an easy and quick read which makes this poem to read.

This poem will for sure stick with some of you as it did in my situation.

This poem is for sure one of the most interesting poems written so far at least.

I give this poem 5 / 5

“Why the Little Frenchman Wears His Hand in a Sling” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

“Why the Little Frenchman Wears His Hand in a Sling” is a humorous short story written by Edgar Allan Poe

You need to know that there are some Edgar Allan Poe stories and poems i really don’t care about, and this one is one of these stories i dont care about.

This story is supposed to be a humorous love story of sorts but it wasn’t that humorous as you might think.

This story is also kind of hard to read because of the language which Edgar Allan Poe uses. The language which Edgar Allan Poe uses is a Scottish brough.

To be honest this story shows that Edgar Allan Poe is able to write a “bit of the blarney” that was in his ancestral Irish blood.

This one was written in a thick simulated Irish brogue which are  depicting the thoughts of Sir Pathrick O’Grandison concerning the circumstances why the little Frenchman Count A.

But also in this one Edgar Allan Poe is trying to sort of “write with an accent” which makes this story to something bad.

“Sonnet — To Zante” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

The poem praises the beauty of the island Zante.

This one is another short odd poem with some good lines and the gothic style to it. Which in the Edgar Allan Poe is known for.

This poem was for the most part okay and it is worth the effort to read, but it didn’t work for me at least.

This poem is easy and quick to read, which is good.

The writing style is a typical Edgar Allan Poe. Which means that it is beautifully written and it is a short and brilliant read.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“To F–” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

This poem refers to Frances S. Osgood, the speaker discusses the chaos and woes of his life, and how they are calmed by dreams of this woman he is addressing.

In my opinion this poem was probably the worst poem written by Edgar Allan Poe.

This one refers to the poem we talked about some days ago, and that last one was a lots of better than this one.

The writing style is bad, and the whole theme isn’t better than the writing style.

The only good thing with this poem is that it is a quick and easy read.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“TO F——s S. O——d” By Edgar Allan Poe Review

The speaker of this poem asks the addressee, “Thou wouldst be loved?” and suggest she stay on her current path to achieve that goal.

So another not so good poem written by Edgar Allan Poe. I read a lots of poems and tales written Edgar Allan Poe, and I know that he was able to do much better than this one.

The writing is good as you can expect from Edgar Allan Poe.

However I need to give this poem points for being short and pretty enough poem, which makes this poem to a worth read. But not a must read.

The whole point of this story didn’t appeal to me as I was expecting.
