“The Last Olympian” By Rick Riordan Review

All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Tim

This book might be the best book in this wholes series in my opinion because it felt somehow different than the previous books in this series.

I continue to not be the biggest fan of the characters I was in the first 4 books in this series. Because there something in them which doesn’t seem right to me. Of course the characters are very good in this series but I just me being very picky.

My main problem with the characters in this series is that there isn’t character development. They are exactly the same as they were in the beginning of book one.

Of course we get introduced more new characters in this book but it feels like we get the new characters introduced just to forgot about them in the next chapters and for them to never come back again in this series.

When it comes to descriptions there could have been longer and more detailed in my opinion at least.

The writing style here was amazing. To be honest it was probably my favourite thing about this book. In a strange way it made me like this book much more. The writing style in this book must have been the best writing style in this whole series.

This book have the same problems as the previous books in this series. And the problem is that the action is very slow at the beginning and at the end. And the middle is just confusing because all action is put into 100 pages or less.

So far in this series I feel like there are the same things happening. And that there are the same mistakes made by the main characters which really made me want to bang my head against a tree.

I Give This Book 3 / 5

“The Battle of the Labyrinth” By Rick Riordan Review

Percy Jackson isn’t expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears at his potential new school, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to worse. In this fourth installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos’s army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop the invasion, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth – a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn.

I continue to not be the biggest fan of the characters I was in the first 3 books in this series. Because there something in them which doesn’t seem right to me. Of course the characters are very good in this series but I just me being very picky.

My main problem with the characters in this series is that there isn’t character development. They are exactly the same as they were in the beginning of book one.

This book repeats the same things as the previous 3 books have told us thousands of times which really annoyed me. Because I hate reading or hearing the same thing over and over again day in and day out.

When it comes to descriptions there could have been longer and more detailed in my opinion at least.

This book have the same problems as the previous books in this series. And the problem is that the action is very slow at the beginning and at the end. And the middle is just confusing because all action is put into 100 pages or less.

Of course we get introduced more new characters in this book but it feels like we get the new characters introduced just to forgot about them in the next chapters and for them to never come back again in this series.

In my opinion this series would done better if it was a trilogy rather than a 5 book series.

For me personally this book was boring with some very few moments went the action started to get interesting but almost imminently went down.

The writing style here was okay. To be honest it was probably my favourite thing about this book. In a strange way it made me like this book much more.

So far in this series I feel like there are the same things happening. And that there are the same mistakes made by the main characters which really made me want to bang my head against a tree.

“American Psycho” By Bret Easton Ellis Review

Patrick Bateman is twenty-six and he works on Wall Street, he is handsome, sophisticated, charming and intelligent. He is also a psychopath. Taking us to head-on collision with America’s greatest dream—and its worst nightmare—American Psycho is bleak, bitter, black comedy about a world we all recognise but do not wish to confront

I need to confess that this book might be the greatest thriller book ever written.

This book is very dark and perhaps controversial to some people. But it is also very interesting, enjoyable and a page turner.

Patrick Bateman is an amazing main character, due to his delusions and the complexity of his character. But he also represents in a way what a lot of people became in modern times which more or less are slaves to materialism. But having a psychopath as a main character is really satisfying.

The plot here is wow. It’s very unique, engaging, interesting and it keeps you interested from the first page to the last. The plot gets very dark at times, and the fact that we can’t distinct if its reality of just delusions to Patrick Bateman keeps you question a lot but in a very interesting way.

The writing style here is incredible, it felt like the author knew exactly what words to use to get you engaged in the plot and keep you reading this book until the end. The writing style in this book is brutal at times due to the way some moments are described which makes it even better and interesting.

This book is very violent and brutal at times but I suppose that’s what you get from a book where the main character is a psychopath who puts the perfect smile in-front of everyone. And it will for sure stick with you for a long time after finishing it.

In this book we also get a lot of essays of shorts from the main character about the 80s music, movies and famous brands.

Patrick Bateman is a psychopath and this book is from his point of view but he only shows us in this book what he wants to show us. Which makes his point of view very unreliable. And in this book the unreliable narrator is the best thing which could happen to this book. Because it makes you question if it really happened or not.

“The Titan’s Curse” By Rick Riordan Review

It’s not everyday you find yourself in combat with a half-lion, half-human. But when you’re the son of a Greek god, it happens. And now my friend Annabeth is missing, a goddess is in chains and only five half-blood heroes can join the quest to defeat the doomsday monster. Oh, and guess what? The Oracle has predicted that not all of us will survive.

I’m still not aboard with this series even after being half way through this series. To be honest I am not the biggest fan of greek mythology so there are couple of things which annoys me or which I find confusing and boring.

I continue to not be the biggest fan of the characters I was in the first 2 books in this series. Because there something in them which doesn’t seem right to me. Of course the characters are very good in this series but I just me being very picky.

My main problem with the characters in this series is that there isn’t character development. They are exactly the same as they were in the beginning of book one.

This book had an small improvement in action from the previous 2 books. The action in this book is more interesting and enjoyable but there are still something missing in my opinion.

So far in this series I feel like there are the same things happening. And that there are the same mistakes made by the main characters which really made me want to bang my head against a tree.

Of course we get introduced more new characters in this book but it feels like we get the new characters introduced just to forgot about them in the next chapters and for them to never come back again in this series.

When it comes to descriptions there could have been longer and more detailed in my opinion at least.

The plot here was very slow at the beginning and at the end. And the middle part in this book was too fast for me to fully enjoy it. For me personally it was too fast and I couldn’t keep my mind around everything which was happening. The previous 2 books in this series have the same problem.

The writing style here was okay. To be honest it was probably my favourite thing about this book. In a strange way it made me like this book much more.

“Season of Storms” By Andrzej Sapkowski Review

Geralt of Rivia. A witcher whose mission is to protect ordinary people from the monsters created with magic. A mutant who has the task of killing unnatural beings. He uses a magical sign, potions and the pride of every witcher — two swords, steel and silver. But what would happen if Geralt lost his weapons? In this standalone novel, Geralt fights, travels and loves again, Dandelion sings and flies from trouble to trouble, sorcerers are scheming and across the whole world clouds are gathering – the season of storms is coming.

This book is the best book in the whole Witcher series. There is a lot of action as in the first book in this series and we get the biggest nostalgia to the first book in this series.

The plot in this book is amazing. We get close-up fights with monsters, we get court conspires, insane wizards and plenty of sarcasm and irony which is what got me to be so big fan of the Witcher book series.

This book gives us us insight into various holes in the Witcher lore which the previous books in the series left open.

However this book is more of a standalone novel in the Witcher series than a continuation of the Witcher series. But I still loved this book a lot.

I personally think that this book is the best option to end the Witcher series with, since it gives us what the first book in this series gave us and it really is an amazing end point to the Witcher series.

Geralt is so amazing main character and this book really proves why. It really shows that he is a good guy however his decisions might not always be the best.

The writing style here is amazing as well. If you read the first Witcher book and you read this book. It really shows how much the author have grown in his writing skills since the first book.

I Give This Book 4 / 5

“The Sea of Monsters” By Rick Riordan Review

The heroic son of Poseidon makes an action-packed comeback in the second must-read installment of Rick Riordan’s amazing young readers series. Starring Percy Jackson, a “half blood” whose mother is human and whose father is the God of the Sea, Riordan’s series combines cliffhanger adventure and Greek mythology lessons that results in true page-turners that get better with each installment.

To be honest this second book in the series of Percy Jackson was weaker than the first book in this series. But it still enjoyed it in a way.

The plot here was a little bit all over the place and at times I had hard time to keep track of everything which was happening.

Monsters here were amazing, I really enjoyed reading about them. They made this book so much better for me.

There is a lot of action in this book which I’ve enjoyed a lot. There was something always happening.

In this book I came to enjoy the Percy’s narration of the events. Which it really surprised me.

I continue to not be the biggest fan of the characters in this series. Because there something in them which doesn’t seem right to me. Of course the characters are very good in this series but I just me being very picky.

The ending here was very slow which made me disappointed in a way. Because after reading all of the actions in this book the very slow ending really took the wind out of it for me.

When it comes to descriptions there could have been longer and more detailed in my opinion at least.

The writing style here was amazing. To be honest it was probably my favourite thing about this book. In a strange way it made me like this book much more.

“Lady of the Lake” By Andrzej Sapkowski Review

After walking through the portal in the Tower of Swallows while narrowly escaping death, Ciri finds herself in a completely different world… an Elven world. She is trapped with no way out. Time does not seem to exist and there are no obvious borders or portals to cross back into her home world. But this is Ciri, the child of prophecy, and she will not be defeated. She knows she must escape to finally rejoin the Witcher, Geralt, and his companions – and also to try to conquer her worst nightmare. Leo Bonhart, the man who chased, wounded and tortured Ciri, is still on her trail. And the world is still at war.

This book is the longest book in the Witcher series. But it really is worth the effort and the time to read it.

The plot here was amazing, and it kept you on the edge from page 1 to the last page. There was a lot of action and there is a lot of tension happening in this book. Which in my opinion only makes this book better and more fun to read.

This book has over 500 pages, but it truly is an quick read since this book is a page turner. And the time goes fast by when you get sucked into the world of Witcher which is one of the best fantasy worlds to be ever written.

In this book we also get the gran finally of the Witcher series. Which really is a bitter sweet experience since this book is amazing but the fact that the series ends is very sad. However the ending should have been better, it really is a disappointment in a way after spending time reading all the books in this series.

The writing style in this book is amazing, just as in the rest of this series. There is something very unique and charismatic to the writing style of Andrzej Sapkowski which really makes this series even better.

The characters in this book are amazing. They all had huge character developments from the first book and they really become as your friends when you read all the books and you come to this book.

The beginning was slow in a way, but the more you read the more the action grew in this book which was really amazing to see happen in this last book of the series.

The action here was okay in a way. We don’t get the same action as we got in the first book when the Geralt were fighting monsters and saving people. Which disappointed me in a way, but I still enjoyed the action in this book since it was somehow different than the first book.

“The Martian” By Andy Weir Review

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.  Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills — and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit — he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

I gotta say that this needs to be the best Sci-Fi book I’ve read so far. I don’t have words to describe how good this book was.

I read this book in one day because I couldn’t stop reading it because it was so engaging, interesting and enjoyable. And I just needed to find out what will happen next to our main character who was left on Mars.

The writing style in this book is complete amazing. It felt like it was written by an expert who just knew what words to use to get us engaged in the book and keep reading.

The ending was a little bit boring and the story dragged little bit. Which really annoyed me because if the ending was different this book would easily be my all time favourite book.

I need to give this book points for having real-world scientific applications being incredible well detailed which really was the base for my love for this book. Because it is a fictional book with real life science in a way.

The plot in this book was very amazing and very intense and that’s how I like the plot to be. The plot gets funny at times and it is easily a different than any other sci-fi novels which really made me give this book even more points.

The characters here are very well written. Of course there are some characters better written than others but they all are amazing. There are some characters who were flat but still they were okay for the most part.

I Give This Book 4 / 5

“The Tower of the Swallow” By Andrzej Sapkowski Review

The world has fallen into war. Ciri, the child of prophecy, has vanished. Hunted by friends and foes alike, she has taken on the guise of a petty bandit and lives free for the first time in her life. But the net around her is closing. Geralt, the Witcher, has assembled a group of allies determined to rescue her. Both sides of the war have sent brutal mercenaries to hunt her down. Her crimes have made her famous. There is only one place left to run. The tower of the swallow is waiting.

To be fully honest here, in my opinion this book was the best book in this series so far but I still have 2 more books in this series to read so a lot can happen.

The plot here was very slow but at the same time very interesting. There isn’t a lot of adventure or sword fights in this book but it still finds a way to keep us as readers engaged in it and find it interesting.

The characters here are just wow. You can really see the character development and the character change which happened to all characters between this book and the previous book before this one. We also get to know what happened to Ciri between the actions of the previous books and this one. Which in my opinion only adds more to this book and the character itself.

However surprisingly we get every little of Yenefer. Which I personally find to enjoy because I am not a fan of her. But I came to like her in this book which a big surprise to me.

The plot in this book is really about family, friendship, love and loyalty which is a huge surprised when it comes to a Witcher book but at the same time also a very positive surprise.

The writing style here somehow gets better than from the previous book. I don’t know how it happened but it did and I love to see Andrzej Sapkowski become better author and to see Witcher series becoming better.

The ending in this book is a really big cliff-hanger and the moment I finished this book I couldn’t stop myself from immediately start on the next book in this series to find out what happens next.

I Give This Book 5 / 5

“The Lightning Thief” By Rick Riordan Review

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse – Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena – Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

I had high expectations for this book but to be honest with you, this book didn’t live up to all of them.

The plot here was very good, very interesting, entertaining and engaging. But somehow I couldn’t get fully in there. I was never a big fan of greek mythology which means that I didn’t understand a lot of the greek relating things.

The plot here was a very good mix of being funny at times but also being sad at times. Which really made me add some points.

There is a lot of action in this book which I’ve enjoyed a lot. There was something always happening.

The ending here could have been better if it had ended up at a cliffhanger. The ending over all was very slow which really made me disappointed.

The universe of Percy Jackson is very simple and easy. Almost too simple for my taste at least. Which might be the reason why I don’t enjoy this series as much as I wanted to.

The writing style here was amazing. To be honest it was probably my favourite thing about this book. In a strange way it made me like this book much more.

The characters here were very good but I wasn’t the biggest fan of them I don’t know why. They make some stupid decisions sometimes which is part of my problem with this book.

When it comes to descriptions there could have been longer and more detailed in my opinion at least.

Monsters here were amazing, I really enjoyed reading about them. They made this book so much better for me.

I Give This Book 3 / 5
