“Desiderata: A Poem for a Way of Life” By Max Ehrmann Review

This poem is a kind of long commentary on how one should consider their day to day life.

The writing style in this one was amazing, and it was super easy to read.

The entire plot in this poem was amazing, and I had so fun time reading this poem. I don’t think that I’ve before enjoyed a poem as much as I enjoyed this one.

This poem is open minded which is good. But this poem is also inspiring, I’ve read it last year when I was in a month long reading slum, and this poem got me out of reading slum.

This poem also has quite dispenses significant insight in it. Which i give it extra points for.

I give this poem 5 / 5

“Oh Captain! My Captain!” By Walt Whitman Review

This poem celebrates the end of the American Civil War, it is also was an tribute to President Abraham Lincoln. Losing and winning are thus closely intertwined throughout the poem.

So this one was my first try at reading something by Walt Whitman and to be honest I wasn’t a fan of this one.

The writing style in this one was not great, it could have been better and the full potential of this poem wasn’t used which is sad.

The plot in this poem is pretty okay, but still it felt like there was something missing in this one.

But I liked the link which this poem had to Civil War (USA) and sort of the tribute in this poem to Abraham Lincoln which is one of the most important historical persons in the history of United States Of America. And of course without Abraham Lincoln, USA would had look very different today and throughout the history.

I think that the main problem on why I gave this poem so low rating is because I’ve never been a poetry lover. Im just a girl who tries to stay away from poetry but I can read it when I have a reading slum.

However I need to give this poem points for showing us that victory comes with a great price to pay. Which some people today might forget about.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“After Apple-picking” By Robert Frost Review

This poem focuses on someone who’s exhausted after a long day’s work in an apple orchard. Drifting between wakefulness and sleep, the poem’s speaker replays the day’s events while feeling anxious about all the apples left unpicked.

So this one in my opinion was better than the last poem we talked about written by Robert Frost but still I had hard time connecting with this story which again leads to low rating.

This poem is tricky because you sort of can’t put it in ant specified category. But it’s fun when poems and books are tricky at least in my opinion.

The writing style for the most part was okay but as someone who have read multiple poems by Robert Frost I know that he can do better than this. But still I had fun reading this poem.

As I said above somewhere this poem didn’t speak to me, but still it is worth the read and it will won’t take you longer than 3 minutes to read it.

This poem needs to get some extra points for the symbolism in it. The symbolism in this poem is about the fallen apples being turned into apple cider.

Some of you may find this poem boring because there isn’t a lots of action in it and there isn’t a lots of things happening in this one. But some of you may enjoy it a lot.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“Fragmentary blue” By Robert Frost Review

This short poem of eight lines is from New Hampshire which is about our love of blue colour.

Before we go further i need to mention that this poem gets some extra points from me because this poem is one of these poems written by Robert Frost which sort of express a passing thought, observation or reflection, without being very profound. And i love when this happens.

This poem is even more fascinating because of the regard it has about the colour blue  which is the orientation of this poem.

This poem is well written and it is sort of bringing your imagination to work to imagine all the things which this poem gives you.

However I had hard time connecting with this poem which is why I give it so low rating as I did.

At the time of writing this article / post this poem had only 2 ratings on Goodreads and I was one of these 2 ratings. And I don’t know why because this poem should be read by more people.

The story in this poem is pretty okay but it didn’t speak to me but I appreciate it  and I’m glad that I read it because I give me a little bit of different perspective.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“Fire and Ice” By Robert Frost Review

It discusses the end of the world, likening the elemental force of fire with the emotion of desire, and ice with hate. It is one of Frost’s best-known and most anthologized poems.

Again im doing the same mistake of reading a poem even thou I now super well that im not a poem person and I don’t understand the hype with poems. However this one wasn’t half bad as many other poems I’ve read.

The writing style was pretty decent but nothing extraordinary.

The theme of this poem was beautifully and really fun to read about.

I give this poem 5 / 5

“Christmas Trees” By Robert Frost Review

This poem is about a city man who comes to the speaker’s country farm offering to buy all the pine trees behind his farmhouse to sell in the city as Christmas trees.

I mentioned this in previous reviews but I do it again Im a fan of winter and Christmas stories and this poem is one of them however this one didn’t do much for me. And I’m not a fan of poetry of course I read poetry on the reg but not like Im reading it everyday and can talk about it for hours.

This poem really tells a story and it isn’t just a random x amount of lines poem which doesn’t mean anything deeper. This poem tells a good story about a rich man who comes to a Christmas tree farm.

The writing style here is amazing and it really makes you imagine what you are reading in this poem.

The message of this poem can be read in different ways depends on the person who is reading it. But the 2 message i got from this poem was sort of anti-commercialism message and the second was that things may have bigger value than you think they have. And let me know what message you got from this poem would love to know it.

I had a hard time connecting with this poem and it because of this that I give it so low rating.

This poem gets 2 / 5

“Mending Wall” By Robert Frost Review

The poem revolves around the story of two neighbours who come across each other in spring every year to mend the stone wall that separates their farms.

This poem was actually one of the better once I’ve read so far. I like it a lot but there are some things with this poem which didn’t go with me but I just can’t put the word on what it is.

I like the premise of this poem which is to show us the reader how a fences can create good neighbours. But it also shows us how people can sort of can preserve their long-lasting relations with neighbours by founding such walls. But i feel like this topic is over used now on days.

In this poem Robert Frost gives us a crusty persona in this poem. And for the most part this poem is full of wallops.

The whole story in this poem is about 2 men who meet to repair the wall dividing their property. It was good but at times it felt provoking and settling at the same time.

The narrator in this poem question the purpose of the fence between the neighbours.

Overall it is a good poem. But it didn’t do much for me personally. Some of you may love it or like it.

This poem gets 2 / 5

“Acquainted with the Night” By Robert Frost Review

This one is about an exploration of isolation, sorrow, and despair—emotions that feel as inescapable as the night itself. These emotions, Frost suggests, are not unique to the speaker of his poem, but rather a universal part of the human experience.

This one is another pretty decent poem from Robert Frost. To be honest im not the biggest fan of poems but there are few that I like. However this one isn’t one of them but it still was okay.

The writing style in this poem was pretty decent but far from what Robert Frost is able to. Ive read some of Robert Frost’s work as you can tell.

The story is pretty good but for me it was something missing at least for me. This poem explores Sorrow, Isolation and despair and these emotions are sort of mixed in this poem. Its  was fun to read this poem but nothing more than that to be honest here.

This poem gets 3 / 5

“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” By Robert Frost Review

This poem is about the contemplation of nature and man’s relationship to nature. The poem describes a man making his way home on a snowy evening to stop and watch a neighbor’s woods fill up with snow, despite the cold and the late hours.

This one is another amazing poem from Robert Frost not as good as the previous poem we talked about but not far behind.

This poem is fun to read and super enjoyable because it explores the relationship which human beings can have with nature.

This poem doesn’t fail to show us the beauty of snow. If you are like me, you too take a moment to appreciate snow every time it falls from the sky every winter.

I personally love poems and books which takes place during winter because my favourite time during the whole year is winter and snow.  So the fact that the events in this poem takes place during a snowy evening gains more points from me.

The writing style is again very beautiful and very amazing. Which really makes you realise why Robert Frost is one of the best poet which every lived.

This poem is an example on a good poem and how each poem should be like.

This poem gets 4 / 5

“Beyond the Wall of Sleep” By H.P. Lovecraft Review

A former intern and a worker of a mental hospital relates his experience with Joe Slater, an inmate who died at the facility a few weeks after being confined as a criminally insane murderer.

The plot in this short story was good, not as amazing as I’ve expect it to be. But it still was very good, very interesting, very fun to read and very engaging. Which really speaks for itself doesn’t it?

The writing style here was very good, I had some high expectations for this short story but not as high as the writing style turned out to be. The writing style really made you imagine in your head what you are reading in this short story.

I know that there are some people on the internet that are saying that this short story is racist, but come on give this short story a break. It was published over 100 years ago and a lot of things was very different in 1919 hen this short story was published. Which means that we have different options and standards now than people in 1919 had. But let’s go back to the review shall we ?

I need to give this short story points for showing us that the line between reality and dreams might be very blurred at times. And I’m into that if you didn’t know it so far.

And this short story really shows us that dreams play an important role in the world of H.P Lovecraft and his stories.

I read a couple of H.P Lovecraft’s stories and this one so far was the only one to stand out a little bit from the rest I’ve read so far. The reason why it stands out is because the positive insinuation rather than the manipulation of horror which sort of is a relevant topic in the stories from H.P Lovecraft.

I give this short story 4 / 5
