“And Then There Were None” By Agatha Christie Review

First, there were ten—a curious assortment of strangers summoned as weekend guests to a little private island off the coast of Devon. Their host, an eccentric millionaire unknown to all of them, is nowhere to be found. All that the guests have in common is a wicked past they’re unwilling to reveal—and a secret that will seal their fate. For each has been marked for murder. A famous nursery rhyme is framed and hung in every room of the mansion.

I gotta admit here that this book was much better mystery book read than a lot of those modern day mysteries I have read in my time writing reviews on this website. 

This book is a very cozy mystery read which can be read during one weekend which have done. 

The story in this book is very chilling and uncomfortable. Because the plot in this book is about 10 strangers on a private island and one of them is actively killing the other 9 people on that island. And the entire story in this book is the 9 strangers trying to work together to catch the killer and survive. 

This book is exactly what I love about mystery books, which is the tense moments where the characters try to work together and do anything in their power trying to catch the killer and survive. 

The story in this book amazing, interesting and super engaging or at least it was that for me. I was practically clued to this book from start to finish. At the same time this book is pretty short (only 250 pages or so) which means that there is a lot of action packed into this short book. Which means that there is something constantly happening in the story of this book. Which in a way made me like this book, because this book doesn’t have any boring moment.

The pacing of this book is pretty fast, because as Ive said above has a lot of action in this book. Which made me like this book so much better because the modern day mystery books tend to be very slow and boring at times, but this book is the complete opposite of that. 

The writing style in this book is very good, because it was like Agatha Christie knew exactly what words to use to completely grab my attention and not let it go until the very end of this book. Which of course made me give this book some extra points for doing. At the same time the writing style in this book has this old English writing and words to it. Which really gives this book a vibe that makes you feel like this book happened a long time ago where phones, internet, laptops, iPad weren’t available. If you have been around on this website for a while, you might know that I love the old timey vibe in books which of course made me like this book even more.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book is the fact that it was so short. In a way I wanted this book to be longer just because I really really liked the plot in this book and wanted it to be longer.

The characters in this book are very good which really made this book so much better and fun in my opinion. Again if you been around on this website for a while you might know that I put a lot of rating I give books on the characters (if the book is a fiction book) in each book. 

The characters were very realistic in a way, but also they were very likable and interesting which made me feel like I would have no problem being friends with the characters in this book in real life if they were real.

The plot twist at the end of this book where the killer gets revealed, was a bit of a shocker for me personally. Because I didn’t expect the person who was the killer to be the killer. Which really made me like this book even more because it shows how well this book was written in a way that it didn’t spoil the big killer reveal until the big plot twist at the very end of this book.

I need to admit here that I wanted to read this book for a very long time and now that I have finally did that I gotta say that I’m very happy that I have read this book.

This book gives us behind the scenes information about how the Empire works which really made me love this book and give this book extra points for doing. Because I personally am a huge fan of the empire aspect of star wars and I find it to be very interesting.

I really liked the handwritten notes aspect of this book. Those handwritten notes comes from the OG star wars character giving this book so much more fun to it because those handwritten notes feels like you are a part of the star wars universe and can really see what those various OG characters thoughts about the various aspects of this book.

The quality of this book is very good, because it almost feels like it was a real in the universe handbook for the imperial staffers if you will. Because the paper in this book feels very high quality and the pictures which this book includes feels pretty realistic. At the same time this book feels pretty old like the rest of the books in the “Secrets of the Galaxy Guidebooks” book series which I started probably 2 years ago.

This book contains a lot of very interesting information about the imperial part of star wars which I didn’t know even thou I have loved star wars since I first saw the OG movies when I was 5 or 6 years old and consumed every movie / show / comic book / book taking place in the star wars universe every since then. This aspect of this book made me give this book extra points for doing. 

At the same time this book talks about Stormtrooper, starfighter, starships, and a lot of other things about the empire which made me fall in love with this book harder than I already did.

I also never in a way realized that there was so much to empire in star wars before reading this book which really says a lot about me not knowing much about the behind the scenes empire stuff in star wars universe.

This book also contains a lot of numbers and statistics as if there is this big economical aspect to the empire which in a way makes it feel even more real and fun to learn about.

The writing in this book is very good, because it really seems like its a real book in the star wars universe. Which made me give this book a lot of extra points for doing.

I need to admit here that this book is one of the better business / finance books I have read so far in my life. 

This book gives us a lot of good lessons and tips about how to use our money and not impulse buy stuff we don’t really need. At the same time this book gives us some lessons about investing in stocks, funds and bonds. 

I feel like its important for me to mention that this book wont tell you how to become rich overnight because this book focuses more on building wealth the stable and longterm way like saving money from each paycheck or investing some of the money you have today or from each paycheck into stable investments like funds, bonds and companies which have somehow stable growth in their stocks. This book aims more towards using the resources we have today like getting paycheck from our jobs or even switching jobs if our current jobs makes us miserable. 

But at the same time this book doesn’t only talk about wealth, it also talks about happiness and that with time our goals and happiness might change which is perfectly fine. And we shouldn’t keep the same goals we had as teenager when we are in our 30s just because we made a decision we are no longer happy with over a decade later. 

This book has 20 goals which we can use in our own lives, but those 20 goals we do get in this book are very common sense and easy to do in our day-to-day life if we really put our minds to it. Which really shows how easy and simple approach this book has to actually growing our personal wealth and become “rich” which is very different from person to person. 

This book makes a big point that “becoming rich” is very different from person to person. One person might think about being “rich” as having a mansion or multiple Ferraris or Lamborghinis, while the second person might think about being “rich” as owning their own apartment and having a decent car which gets them from point A to point B and didn’t cost much, and a third person might be somewhere in-between person one and person two. So this book makes a pretty big point about defining for ourselves how we define being “rich” as.

I gotta admit that this book is way better than the “Rich dad, Poor Dad” book by Robert Kiyosaki which I have made some negative opinions about after I have reviewed that book a few years ago. But back to the review of this book. 

The writing style in this book is very good and easygoing. There author of this book uses simple and everyday language so that we who don’t have a bachelor in economics or finance can understand the things this book talks about and take as much as possible out off this book. Which made me like this book so much better, since over the time I have been writing reviews on this website I have come across some finance / business books which used very advanced languages which only people with bachelor in economics or finance would understand and I don’t have neither, so I have more of a dummy when it comes to terms and advanced concepts in economics and finance.

Before we start this review I need to admit that at the time of writing this review this book is only available in polish. So keep that in mind and for those of you who are new readers on this website, yes I am from Poland if you didn’t know that which now you do.

Before reading this book I was very skeptical about it. Because I expected this book to be one of those thriller young adult books where the author tries way too hard for my picky taste in books. But now that I have read this book, I gotta admit that this book is probably the best young adult book I have read last year (2025). 

From the very first page of this book, I was completely hooked into the plot of this book. Which really shows how good the plot of this book. There was a lot of tension and drama in this book which I really liked in this book. 

The plot of this book was very relatable, interesting, enjoyable and fun. I find the plot to be very harry potter like. Because I found the plot of starting a new high school in a different country and making new friends and solving crimes to be very cozy and fun.

The characters in this book, are very good and amazing. Because the ever single character in this book feels like a real human beings. Every character in this book have their own personalities and their own quirks which makes them standout from the rest of the characters. I would personally have no problems becoming good friends with the characters in this book.

The writing style in this book is very good, because it was like the author knew exactly what words to use to completely grab my attention and interested and not let it go until the very end of this book. At the same time the writing style seemed like a young adult mixed with thriller writing style. Which made me give this book some extra points solely for the good writing style.

“Revan” By Drew Karpyshyn Review

Revan: hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. A Jedi who left Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians and returned a disciple of the dark side, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was high. His memories have been erased. All that’s left are nightmares and deep, abiding fear.

This book has to be easily in the top 5 books I have read last year. Which says a lot to me personally looking at the fact of how many books and comic books I have read last year. If you want me to make a top 10 list of the worst and best books / comic books I have read last year, let me know in then comments.

The story of this book is very interesting and enjoyable for me personally. From the very beginning to the very end of this book I was completely hooked into the plot of this book. 

At the same time the plot of this book really shows to me at least that Revan is one of the most underrated and unexplored characters in the star wars universe. Which I really want to see much more of.

But I do need to admit here that I had one disappointed when it comes to the plot of this book. Which is that Raven is a complete badass (in my opinion of course) and he didn’t do a lot of fighting in this book which in a way had disappointed me. But not enough to give this book a lower rating than 5 out of 5 stars because I completely loved this book.

The biggest thing I liked about this book is the back story of the Sith Emperor and his back story we get in this book. Which I completely loved and desperately wanted to know more about for a very long time now. And this book have put me out of my misery and given me what I wanted for a very long time now.

At the same time this book has a plot twist at the very end of this book, which in a way made me loved this book so much more. Because I personally never saw it coming which just shows how well this book was written. 

This book was my first star wars book written by Drew Karpyshyn which I have read. And I gotta admit here that Drew Karpyshyn is very close to becoming my favorite star wars author if his other star wars books are just as good as this one. 

The characters in this book are completely amazing. I completely fell in love with all of the characters in this book. Because they were so very well written and they had a lot of personalities to them and personal quirks which made them standout from the rest of the characters in this book. In a way all of the characters in this book felt like real life human beings which I would have no problem becoming best friends with. 

At the same time, this book also offers us a kind of origin story of Scourge who is the Sith Lord of the reconstituted Sith Empire and later as the Emperor’s Wrath in the star wars universe and timeline. I wanted to know more about him as well for a sometime time now. Which made me love this book so much more since this book gives us Scourge’s backstory of how he got to the power. And I gotta admit that this book got me so interested in Scourge that I desperately need to find more star wars books that have Scourge in them because I want to learn more about him.

The writing style in this book is completely amazing. Because it was like the author knew exactly what words to use to completely grab my attention and not let it go until the very end of this book. At the same time the writing style made this whole book so much better because the writing style goes straight to business in this book and delivers the action and drama I wanted to get from this book.

“You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight” By Kalynn Bayron Review

If Charity and her girlfriend Bezi hope to survive the night, they’ll need figure out what this killer is after. Is there is more to the story of Mirror Lake and its dangerous past than Charity ever suspected?

The reason why I read this book is because I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book and I have already read 2 books by the author which I had really liked. But after trying to read this book I gotta admit that this book was very painfully cringey to read and I just needed to DNF this book or I would never pick up any other book if I had completed this book.

The plot of this book is very slow and I just couldn’t find anything in the plot which would interested me enough to keep reading. The first 50 or so pages of this book is just scenes skipping between each other and the councilors talking about the final slasher simulation of the summer. Which really made me bored and uninterested because the plot in the first half was just the councilors walking around the property, talking and checking on props they were using in their simulation.

The plot would also gives us the glimpses of the woke political views, like police not carrying about black people and only being concerned about the safety of white people. Which really was the final straw for me to make my mind about DNF-ing this book. Because I personally hate it when authors use their fictional books to shove their political views down the readers throats. Im completely fine with the authors having their own political views but if the author is writing a fictional book then they shouldn’t fill the book with their real life political views.

At the same time the plot in this book is so much cringey and it plays on the slasher movie theme stereotypes. Where the main character constantly says “I cant die since I’m the final girl in the simulation”. Which didn’t help me liking this book and giving this book a good review. 

The writing style in this book, honestly felt like it was generated by chatGPT or some other AI chat. Because the entire writing style in this book was like “this happened, then this happened, then that happened, and lastly this happened” which made it seem to me like it was written by AI or the author just didn’t bother with this book and she just needed a quick paycheck.

The characters in this book were very annoying and shallow. The main character in this book would constantly say “I’m black and I’m gay” which made me annoyed and frustrated because like I get it that the main character is black and gay but the author doesn’t have to rub it in and remind me of it every 2 pages or so. It was almost like the main character’s whole personality was that she was black and gay.

All the characters in this book are very shallow and have no personalities to them besides their personalities being all about their looks and their sexuality. Which made me want to buy out every copy of this book and burn them to the ground.

This book gotta be easily my most hated book I have read so far in my life and that saying something looking at the fact of how many books I have read and reviewed on this website.

“Dark Disciple” By Christie Golden Review

In the war for control of the galaxy between the armies of the dark side and the Republic, former Jedi Master turned ruthless Sith Lord Count Dooku has grown ever more brutal in his tactics. Despite the powers of the Jedi and the military prowess of their clone army, the sheer number of fatalities is taking a terrible toll. And when Dooku orders the massacre of a flotilla of helpless refugees, the Jedi Council feels it has no choice but to take drastic action: targeting the man responsible for so many war atrocities, Count Dooku himself.

I gotta admit that this book was a very average star wars book, not the worst nor the best I have read from the star wars category of books.

This book takes place during the clone wars tv show timeline. And the clone wars is easily my favorite star wars show ever created. Which means I had some high hopes for this book which unfortunately this book didn’t live up to the hopes and expectations I had for this book.

The plot in this book is kind of all over the place and some of the Jedi council members act very out of character. Like Master Yoda sending people to kill count Dooku. Which gave me mixed feelings because the whole theme of being a Jedi is not killing people like the Sith Lords do. 

And the person who gets the tasks to kill count Dooku was no other than Quinlan Vos. Which in my opinion is one of the most underrated characters we should see more of in the star wars universe.

I personally have mixed feelings about the plot of this book, because there were times where this book would drag a bit which would make me bored and uninterested at times which is never a good thing. And to be very honest here I feel like the plot wasn’t as interesting as it could have been if the author of this book would have use a different approach or different perspective in this book.

The characters in this book, all over the place. Because we do get most well known characters in this book like Yoda, Dooku, Obi-Wan and Anakin amongst other but we also get some new characters or characters that we didn’t spend a lot of time with in movies or the star wars books I have read so far in my life.

To be honest I wished that we would get more time in this book with Quinlan Vos or the less known or new characters in this book. But I cant complain about the characters in this book because I still loved them in this book and think they were as good as always in this book.

The writing style in this book is easily the weakest point of this book. Because the writing style didn’t feel like star wars book but rather a young adult fantasy writing style which for me was weird for me personally.

I need to admit here that I wanted to read this book for a while now, since as many of you guys who are frequent readers on this website might know is that am a huge star wars fan. So when I found out that this book was published I put it on my TBR list and now I have finally read it.

I really liked this book since the author of this book tries really hard to make George Lucas seem sympathetic at every stage of his life even thou George Lucas might not be the sympathetic person ever. Even thou at times George Lucas appears in this book to prefer spending time working rather than with his family or other people for that matter.

The thing that I liked a lot about this book is that this book contains a lot of behind the scenes information and fun facts about star wars movies and Indiana jones movies George Lucas created.

The writing style of this book is very good and easily my favorite part of this book. I have read a lot of biographies in my time on this website, and I gotta admit that a lot of biographies I have read so far have the most boring and text book like writing style. But this book on the other hand makes reading this biography fun and interesting. 

The only reason why I gave this book a 3 star rating is because I think that this book was entirely too long and I’m not that big of a fan of long biographies since I tend to get bored quickly of them.

But at the same time this book gives us a good explanation of George Lucas life and career. Which I really liked because I love star wars ever since I was 6 or 7 years old and watched star wars for the first time. I personally think that George Lucas is easily one of the greatest movie maker of all time.

The majority of this book talks about the star wars era of George Lucas’s life and we get a few glimpses of George Lucas’s life outside of being the creator of star wars like his divorces from his wife and childhood.

As you may have seen from this review so far, is that I have pretty mixed feelings about it. Because on one side I liked this book but on the second side I didn’t like this book. And I just can make up my mind on if I should write a positive or negative review of this book and I want to be as honest and forward coming as possible in every review I write on this website.

I gotta admit that I have had a lot of expectations and hopes for this book since I have heard a lot of good things about this book. But after reading it I gotta admit that this book doesn’t live up to all the good things I have heard about this book. But as always I will explain everything in this review so if you are interested in hearing my thoughts about this book then keep reading. 

First of all its important to say that this book gives us one short lesson for each 365 days to make our lives better. But those advice we get in this book seem very generic you would hear from every fake and sketchy “self-help guru”on the internet who only tries to sell you their course to make themselves rich and not improve your own life. 

Those advice we do get in this book are so generic that at times I felt like I was reading a ChatGPT advice on how to improve ones live. Which is the main reason why I hate this book as much as I do. 

This book is all about the “80/20 principle / rule” which I never heard about. And this  book just assumes that anyone who has ever read even one self-help book have heard of it and just doesn’t bother explaining what it is. Which is my second big issue with this book. I feel like this book would have been so much better if the author have taken the time to explain the “80/20 principle / rule”. But in the end in didn’t which I wouldn’t recommend. Because if the author wants me to buy this book and read it then he better explain everything he is talking about in this book without me needing to google what it is and spend time on it.

The writing style in this book is very generic and again feels like it was written by ChatGPT or some other AI assistant / chatbot. I felt like the author just didn’t bother to present this book is a good light as much as the author was concerned about getting the paycheck for publishing this book.

If you are looking for a good self-help book, then this book isn’t the choice. This book is in fact so far away from being anywhere “good” like comparing water to a book. Which isn’t even close.

“Tutaj mieszka zło” By Sonia Rosa Review

Wyremontowany przez parę dom prezentuje się zjawiskowo, ale czy pod dachem, pod którym wydarzyła się tak krwawa zbrodnia, można odnaleźć szczęście? Marta, nowa właścicielka dworku, nocami słyszy głosy zmarłych dzieci – płacz niemowlęcia i śmiech kilkuletniej dziewczynki. Z czasem udaje jej się odzyskać równowagę emocjonalną, ale wtedy dzieje się coś, co rodzi kolejne problemy – do dworku wprowadza się siostra męża Marty, Izabela. Kobiety nigdy się nie dogadywały, a obecność szwagierki jest dla Marty wyjątkowo trudna. Za zamkniętymi drzwiami wybuchają kłótnie, szczęśliwe małżeństwo przechodzi pierwszy poważny kryzys, ale to dopiero początek koszmaru. At the time of writing this review this book is only available in polish so keep that in mind. But without making this intro longer lets jumps straight into the review of this book.

I had some high hopes and expectations for this book because the casher at the bookstore I bought this book at told me that this book was very scary and creepy. But after reading this book (or rather trying to read this book I should say) I have realized that the casher have bull shit-ed me. Because this book isn’t scary and it isn’t good.

The plot in this book is just a pure family drama show and not a horror book I have expected from this book would be. The main character and her sister-in-law hate each other and this whole book is them arguing with each other or talking shit about each other to other people. 

But at the same time the plot of this book is written in such a way that we as readers expect something happen (the generic horror setup) any second in this book. Which was the only reason why I got 200 pages into this book before DNF-ing it as I realized nothing scary would happen in this book beside the sister-in-law and the main character being very annoying and acting like little toddlers with their tantrums.

The characters in this book as you my expected from what I have said above are very very annoying for me personally. Because as I’ve said above the main character and her sister-in-law are constantly acting like little toddlers throwing tantrums all the time in this book. Both of those characters have really really annoyed and irritated me personally to such an extent that they have won my reward for being the most irritating and most frustrating characters in any book I have read so far in my life.

When it comes to the other characters in this book I gotta admit that they were just as annoying as the main character and the sister-in-law in this book. The husband of the main character in this book is way too forgiving to his sister which really really made me pissed off at him. Like his sister would get very often blackout drunk and all he would say about it was something like “oh well, she was just trying to relax”. During this book something very serious happens with the sister-in-law where a guy she was partying with tried to rape her and she intentionally pushed him down the stairs and he died. And instead of calling the police and ambulance she waited for her brother (aka the husband) to come help her hide the body and all the brother said about it was “oh well, it was his fault for falling down the stairs”. The sister-in-law could do nothing wrong in the husband’s eyes because she was his little sister no matter how many fuck-ups she did. Which really made me want to throw this book into an active fireplace. 

The writing style in this book isn’t any better than the plot and the characters in this book because its just as bad. It was so bad that I don’t even have words to describe the writing style and how bad it is. It almost feels like it was written by a mix of ChatGPT and a teenager who really hated her boyfriend’s sister for no good reason. 

There is also a handful of contradictions in this book. Where the other have written that the main character and her husband went to a “polish restaurant” and 2 pages later it changed to “Italian restaurant” even thou the characters were still in the same restaurant. Which really made it confusing for me because this book would a handful of times contradict itself like there author couldn’t remember what she has written 2 pages earlier.
