“Snake Oil” By Jay Lang Review

Alone in Canada after her parents retire to Scotland, Sophie Grant is content to finish her degree without partaking in the rowdy university lifestyle. So it seems like Fate when at the single party her roommate Tessa forces her to attend, she meets the charming and chivalrous Brandon Chase. In a whirlwind, Sophie finds herself smitten and living with the man of her dreams.

After reading this book I can’t understand why this book isn’t talk about and hyped. To be fully honest this book deserves to be hyped and talked about much more than all of Colleen Hoover’s Books.

When I finished the book I just can’t believe why so few people have read this book. Because this book is so much better than majority of the popular books.

This book starts with a college girl falling in love with an slightly older guy. But it quickly gets the eerie feeling but you can’t place the finger to what’s wrong.

The plot here is amazing. From the very first page of this book you just can’t stop reading this book. This book starts very innocent but the more you read, the more you start suspecting that something will happen.

The characters in this book are very good. They feel like real human beings. Which I personally love when it happens in a book. Because then the characters are more relatable.

The main character in this book, is a sweet college student. And the guy she falls in love with is a manipulative liar and a psychopath. But we don’t see it until the big climax of this book.

The writing style here is very incredible. It felt like reading the author knew what words to use to really grab your attention.

The big climax of this book, is incredible. Because it involved a big twist and there is a lot of things happening.

I Give This Book 5 / 5

“Slow Horses” By Mick Herron Review

London, England: Slough House is where the washed-up MI5 spies go to while away what’s left of their failed careers. The “slow horses,” as they’re called, have all disgraced themselves in some way to get relegated here. Maybe they messed up an op badly and can’t be trusted anymore. Maybe they got in the way of an ambitious colleague and had the rug yanked out from under them. Maybe they just got too dependent on the bottle—not unusual in this line of work. One thing they all have in common, though, is they all want to be back in the action. And most of them would do anything to get there─even if it means having to collaborate with one another.

Maybe the world of secret agents isn’t for me. Because it was the first book about a secret agent I’ve read and I ended up DNF-ing it pretty fast.

The plot here wasn’t my type to be honest. I had super hard time trying to get into the plot. My main problem with this plot is that is overly complicated. And the beginning of this book is very very slow.

The use of acronyms and nicknames was irritating because it was overused and it was super confusing trying yo remember who had which nickname and what these different acronyms meant in this book.

Characters in this book to be honest feel like the same person just using different clothes. There are couple of characters in this book and I just can’t name one of them because I just didn’t care for them and I just couldn’t find myself to even try to like them.

The main character feels more like a side character because a whole chapter can go by without the main character being even mentioned-

The writing style here was probably the best part of this book but still I felt like there was something missing here. The writing style here felt over complicated and it felt like it was written as a school textbook rather than a mystery / thriller book

This book is very chaotic and very confusing. I personnel had super hard time trying to focus on the plot which almost didn’t exist in this book.

“Roadside Crosses” By Jeffery Deaver Review

Roadside crosses are appearing along the highways of the Monterey Peninsula, not as memorials to past accidents but as markers for fatalities yet to come and someone, armed with information gleaned from careless and all-too-personal blog postings, intends to carry out those killings. Kathryn Dance and her C.B.I. team know when the attacks will take place, but who will be the victims? Her body language expertise leads her to a recent fatal car crash, and to the driver, Travis Brigham, a gaming-obsessed teen who’s become the target of vicious cyberbullies. And when Travis disappears, Kathryn must lead a furious manhunt in the elusive world of bloggers and social networking, where nothing is as it seems.

This book is full of very boring and uninteresting moments which pretty much kill the desire to find out how it ends.

The ending of this was pretty okay for the most part but the further you get into this book the more boring it becomes. I personally DNF-ed it after having read 72%.

The plot here was bad. Because it felt like it was a tutorial on how to use internet and  tutorial on blogs, social media, shortcuts, how to use internet and what teens do on the Internet but in a crime / mystery form.

This book was very slow and there was almost 0 action in this book which really made it a tortures read.

The characters her were very flat. To be fully honest here every characters seemed as the same person and it is almost impossible to tell them apart.

This book had a ridiculous overuse of word “like” which was in almost every sentence which really got annoying after awhile.

The writing style here was super bad as well. Because it overused some specific words. But also it repeated the same things over and over again in every chapter.

“Angels & Demons” By Dan Brown Review

World-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization — the Illuminati. In a desperate race to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra. Together they embark on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, and deserted cathedrals, and into the depths of the most secretive vault on earth…the long-forgotten Illuminati lair.

Frankly I don’t know why I read this book, since I didn’t have any interested in it other than wondering if the hype of it was really worth a try. And after reading it I can say that it isn’t worth it.

This book was more of a conspiracy theories talk rather than a mystery book. However as a fan of conspiracy theories myself, I need to say that I liked this aspect of this book.

However the beginning of this book was slow, and there was a point when I became very uninterested but I continued to read.

The characters in this book feels very annoying, if they were really human beings I would haver a really hard time getting along with them. The characters were entreating at times but overall they were more the pain in the ass rather than anything else.

The writing style were okay for the most part, however it was weak at times. And we were told more about the Illuminati and the Vatican and its church system it felt more like a boring religious lesson or a conspiracy theory lesson made by the crazy teacher from elementary school.

The descriptions in this book were probably the best part about this book, because they really gave you a clear picture of the scenario and I came to enjoy it a lot.

My main problems with this book, and why I came to like it so little is because this book is full with stereotypical characters and tedious and very dubious historical references. But also that the 600 pages of this book can be summarised in one sentence. Which is an absurd story which is carried out smoothly behind the scenes of the Vatican.

“Murder on the Orient Express” By Agatha Christie Review

Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the famous Orient Express in its tracks as it travels through the mountainous Balkans. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year but, by the morning, it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. One of the passengers is none other than detective Hercule Poirot. On vacation. Isolated and with a killer on board, Poirot must identify the murderer—in case he or she decides to strike again.

To be fully honest this book is probably the best mystery book I’ve read so far and it happens as well that this book is the first book written by Agatha Christie I’ve read.

The plot in this book is very incredible. Because there is so much into it. It really made me super engaged in it and I had super hard time putting it down which I complete love when it happens. And as someone who loves traveling by train it made me love this book much more. This book completely made me love traveling by train much more and sit made it much more exciting.

The whole book contains all the things I love which are travelling by train, a murder mystery, many suspects, a alibi for everyone. And what do you need more ? That’s a full score for me personally.

The characters here are wow, super amazing and super complexed.  They all are different from each other but in the end they might have somethings in common.

The writing style was even more amazing. Because it felt like I was right there in the book with all the other characters and I was watching what was happening.

Agatha Christie with this book have scored the full score for me here because it has all the things I love with mystery books.

“Into the Water” By Paula Hawkins Review

A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother’s sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she’d never return.

This was my first ever book written by Paula Hawkins and I gotta say that I was very disappointed because I have had heard so much good about this book which this didn’t book didn’t live up to for me.

The plot was very confusing and very boring. There are many POVs in this book which really annoyed me personally and at times I just couldn’t keep up with the plot. There are too many characters and to many switching of POVs was really made me want to DNF this book. The plot was on the edge of having a good mystery in it but every time the plot was starting to get even slightly exciting it was just killed off straight away. Which really made me personally very angry because I really wanted to like this book.

In general the plot in this book was all over the place and the ending really didn’t bring the big revel but rather an DNF from me when I was just 8 pages away from the end.

The writing style was bad but of course there were parts where the writing style was okay but come on I need more than that to like it.
