“Henry IV, Part I” By William Shakespeare Review

The play dramatises part of the reign of King Henry IV of England, beginning with the battle at Homildon Hill late in 1402, and ending with King Henry’s victory in the Battle of Shrewsbury in mid-1403.

This play is another play by William Shakespeare which didn’t work for me at all and I ended up DNF-ing this one.

There is a lots of build up to a battle which doesn’t lead anywhere in this play which truly shows how bad this play is.

Reading this play really was a torture for me because in was very confused on what was happening because I couldn’t keep up with what was happening.

The plot here is very boring and to be honest and I truly didn’t care about this play at all. But also the plot changes the main focus every 5 minutes because it goes from being political, to being about rebellion then to being a drunken adventure. This annoyed me a lot because it kept confusing me more and more and I really couldn’t keep up with what was happening in this play.

The characters in this play were super boring and they made me want to stab myself in the eye with something.

I Give Play 1 / 5

“The Merchant of Venice” By William Shakespeare Review

In this lively comedy of love and money in sixteenth-century Venice, Bassanio wants to impress the wealthy heiress Portia but lacks the necessary funds. He turns to his merchant friend, Antonio, who is forced to borrow from Shylock, a Jewish moneylender. When Antonio’s business falters, repayment becomes impossible–and by the terms of the loan agreement, Shylock is able to demand a pound of Antonio’s flesh. Portia cleverly intervenes, and all ends well

To be honest here this play wasn’t that bad as some of the other plays written by William Shakespeare.

The plot was okay for the most part but the way it was presented to us made me not like this play. The way it was presented to us made it super exhausting to read it.

To be fully honest here this play is full of body horror and racism. The racism is a big part of the majority of William Shakespeare plays.

The characters here are okay for the most part of course there are couple of annoying characters in this play here and there. But the main characters in this play are okay for the most part which made me give this play some extra points.

I Give Play 2 / 5

“King Richard II” By William Shakespeare Review

King Richard II banishes Henry Bolingbroke, seizes noble land, and uses the money to fund wars. Henry returns to England to reclaim his land, gathers an army of those opposed to Richard, and deposes him. Now as Henry IV, Henry imprisons Richard, and Richard is murdered in prison.

This play was another one which didn’t work for me. It might be me not liking plays at all or just not caring for the historical fiction about royals.

Reading this play was really a huge torture for me personally just because it was so boring. I didn’t know what was happening in this play during reading it and after finishing reading it because it was so confusing and really I just couldn’t focus on this play because it was torture reading it.

The plot in this play is very slow, boring and the plot us pretty much over by the end of act III which means that William Shakespeare didn’t do a good job on this play to be fully honest here.

The characters here are very boring as well. For the most all of the characters here are very annoying and I just wanted for them all to die a terrible death just because they were getting on my nerves all the time.

I Give Play 1 / 5

“The Taming of the Shrew” By William Shakespeare Review

The ballad tells the story of a marriage in which the husband must tame his headstrong wife. Like Shrew, the story features a family with two sisters, the younger of whom is seen as mild and desirable.

This play in a way is trying to appeal to misogynistic beliefs which really annoyed me a lot to say at least.

The main reason why I hate this play so much is of course the misogynistic bull shit happening and because the plot which is about a man who take a girl and brutally crushes her.

The characters in this play are very annoying for at least and I just had a super hard time reading this play because of the characters being mixed with the bad plot.

The writing style here wis also very bad and for the most part it doesn’t feel like something being written by William Shakespeare

I Give Play 1 / 5

“King John” By William Shakespeare Review

King John goes to war against the French after claims that his nephew should be king instead. John has conflict with the church, orders his nephew’s death, and turns the nobles against himself. In the end, John dies from poison, the French retreat, and his son becomes King.

To be fully honest here I think that historical fiction as a genre doesn’t work for plays because it is another play by William Shakespeare which didn’t work for me. Of course it might be just be being very picky and nothing liking watching or reading plays.

The plot here was very boring and very uninteresting because this whole play was a torture to read. The entire plot here was very flat and to be honest here I didn’t care for it.

The writing style was very weak and very uninteresting as a whole especially if you mix it with bad plot.

The characters here are also very flat and so annoying.

I Give Play 1 / 5

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” By William Shakespeare Review

Four Athenians run away to the forest only to have Puck the fairy make both of the boys fall in love with the same girl. The four run through the forest pursuing each other while Puck helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen. In the end, Puck reverses the magic, and the two couples reconcile and marry.

Another play by William Shakespeare which didn’t work for me. It might be just be being very picky when it comes to the things I actually like and that I don’t like reading or watching plays in general.

Reading this play was really a torture for me and it really made me want to never read anything else by William Shakespeare ever again.

This one was another love story from William Shakespeare but still it again felt not like a love story but rather a parody of a love story which didn’t lead anywhere for me personally.

The writing style here was super bad and it didn’t feel like something written by William Shakespeare.

I Give Play 1 / 5

“Romeo and Juliet” By William Shakespeare Review

In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare creates a violent world, in which two young people fall in love. It is not simply that their families disapprove; the Montagues and the Capulets are engaged in a blood feud.

I had high expectations for this play but it didn’t live up to my expectations. To be full honey here I need to say that this play is way to overrated because it isn’t as good as people say.

The plot here was very boring because it was the typical love story ending in a tragedy which really felt super generic and really felt like there was nothing unique in it which would make me like it.

To be fully honest this play isn’t a love story it is rather a mockery of a love story and it was a good example of what not to do when you are writing something which will be published for the whole world to read.

The characters here are super annoying, super flat and super boring. All of the characters in this play made me want to shot myself in the eye because really I just couldn’t stand them.

The writing style here was super bad and it didn’t feel like it was written by William Shakespeare.

I Give Play 1 / 5

“Love’s Labour’s Lost” By William Shakespeare Review

A well-intentioned king vows to forego all fleshly delights, setting the stage for romantic hijinks. Ferdinand, the king of Navarre, insists that his court join him in a pledge to undertake a strict regimen of study and celibacy. The grudging compliance of three noblemen is sorely tested — as is the king’s own resolve — with the arrival of a French princess and a trio of comedy attendants.

To be fully honest here I cared very little about this play just because in my opinion it wasn’t worth remembering.

The plot in thus poem wasn’t the best. It might be because of the ageing process or that I’m very picky about things what I like.

The Sex jokes together with pedant mockery really made me dislike this play and it really made me want to DNF this play very fast which I didn’t but looking back at it I don’t know why I didn’t DNF it.

The characters here are very flat and uninteresting and they really made me want to stab myself in the eye with something.

This play in my opinion is very flat and boring because. Because there are a lot of things which pissed me off because of the many sex jokes in this play.

I Give Play 2 / 5

“The Two Gentlemen of Verona” By William Shakespeare Review

Sent to court to learn to be “perfect gentlemen,” Valentine and Proteus are derailed by their attraction to Sylvia, the ruler’s daughter. Valentine’s mental denseness does not deter Sylvia from returning his love, but he is caught, and banished, when he tries to elope with her. Proteus’s desire for Sylvia wipes out his former love, leading him into despicable acts that win scorn from Sylvia and wound Julia, who has pursued him disguised as a boy.

This one was the best play by William Shakespeare I’ve read so far. As someone who doesn’t like reading or watching plays I need to say that this play made a huge impression on me.

The plot of this play is very good and really it was a joy to read this play. The plot here was interesting and it really was a page turner in a way.

There are 2 or so anti-Semitic references in this play so be warned about it if that triggers you.

I need to say that this play is very undervalued and overlooked when it comes to plays written by William Shakespeare because this play is much better than people say.

The writing style in this play was okay for the most part but since this play is allegedly the first play William Shakespeare have written I will give him a pass on this one.

I Give Play 4 / 5

“King Lear” By William Shakespeare Review

The play tells us about families struggling between greed and cruelty, on the one hand, and support and consolation, on the other. Emotions are extreme, magnified to gigantic proportions. We also see old age portrayed in all its vulnerability, pride, and, perhaps, wisdom—one reason this most devastating of Shakespeare’s tragedies is also perhaps his most moving.

So this one was my first play or anything written by William Shakespeare. And I gotta be honest here and say that I wasn’t a fan of this one. I didn’t like it so much that I DNF-ed it at the end because I just couldn’t finish it.

The writing style was really old English which made it hard to understand for someone like me who have English as their third language.

I love the old English when it comes to horror tales but not when it comes to the plays but that’s just my opinion.

The plot but was overall good but it didn’t speak to me so this might explain the low rating and why I DNF-ed it at the end.

I give this play 1 / 5
