“Cinema Speculation” By Quentin Tarantino Review

In addition to being among the most celebrated of contemporary filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino is possibly the most joyously infectious movie lover alive. For years he has touted in interviews his eventual turn to writing books about films. Now, with Cinema Speculation, the time has come, and the results are everything his passionate fans—and all movie lovers—could have hoped for. Organized around key American films from the 1970s, all of which he first saw as a young moviegoer at the time, this book is as intellectually rigorous and insightful as it is rollicking and entertaining. At once film criticism, film theory, a feat of reporting, and wonderful personal history, it is all written in the singular voice recognizable immediately as QT’s and with the rare perspective about cinema possible only from one of the greatest practitioners of the artform ever.

And yet again Ive read another book written by Quentin Tarantino which didn’t work for me. I don’t know why I keep reading his books but I do and each time I end up really not liking his books.

The writing style in this book was okay, but it was far far from being good. The writing style didn’t bother me so much as other things which I will talk about in this review.

The reason why I didn’t like this book was because this book is the constant commentary on movies, tv, directing etc. you know all the things it takes to make a movie in Hollywood.

Don’t get me wrong I like Quentin Tarantino’s movies but reading an entire book about his movie and directing opinions isn’t for me. Especially if you look at the fact that he swears a lot in this book. Again don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with people using “bad language” but still if you gonna use “bad words” keep it to a minimum since its a nonfiction book not a rap song.

In this book the author make some very harsh person critiques like being ugly, fat and some other insults which I think you can think about.

There were are a time when he talked about people with various disabilities like down syndrome amongst other and he called them “mongoloids” or even “pin heads” which is very very rude and would ruin your career if you weren’t making billions of money for the worst perverts and criminal on all earth which of course is Hollywood.

“Gone Girl” By Gillian Flynn Review

Who are you? What have we done to each other? These are the questions Nick Dunne finds himself asking on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police suspect Nick. Amy’s friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn’t true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they weren’t made by him. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile phone.

I had very high expectations for this book because of all the good things I’ve heard about this book. But unfortunately this one didn’t live up to my expectations. After reading this book I think that this book is very over hyped because it isn’t as good as people claim it to be.

The plot in my opinion is very weak, is very boring and uninteresting and it is way too long. The entire plot could have been cut in half and do much better. The plot sidetracks a lot in this book in the way that it talks about the main plot and then suddenly it just switches to something else which happened few years ago which doesn’t have anything to do with the main plot which really annoyed me.

The characters in this book were very annoying, because all the female character and even police just seemed like they knew Nick had killed his wife especially in the beginning when she first went missing and where there were absolutely no evidence that Nick had killed his wife. Its very sexist if you ask me, because it was like everyone believed Nick had killed his wife just because he was the husband.

When it comes to the two main character which of course are Nick and Amy were very far from being the good main characters. Both Nick and Amy were very flat and uninteresting.

But Amy especially was a character I truly hated because she is psychopath and not in a good way. She just does shit just because she wants to be the center of the universe, she just wants everything t revolve around her and if she doesn’t get the attention from you well some very bad shit will happen for you.

And Nick in my opinion is just bad character as well because he isn’t trying to do anything to stop his bad shit crazy wife and even try to leave. Like your wife tried to blame you for murdering her and make you get (in the best case scenario) life in prison or (in the worst case scenario) get a death sentence. And you still love her and stay with her and pretend like nothing happened ? Its not what I would have done in this case.

The writing style here was very boring and chaotic. I don’t know what it is but there was something about the writing style which really really annoyed me. Because it is a strange thing because I already read one book by this author before reading this one and I liked that previous this book but I absolutely hate this one.

“Before” By Anna Todd Review

Before explores Hardin Scott’s life before Tessa, reveals what happens after After, and gives new insights on their turbulent #Hessa romance. BEFORE Hardin met Tessa he was a raging storm. DURING those first moments they met, he realized he needed to keep her for himself — his life depended on it. AFTER they got together, the world would never be the same.

This book is very last book in the “After” series by Anna Todd and i just cant believe that it is the very end of a series I came to love so much.

This book has 3 parts in it, before Tessa, During Tessa and After Tessa. And wow I wasn’t expecting such a very good ending to this whole series. It really was what I wanted out of this series. And somehow this book made me fall in love with this series more even thou I didn’t like this book as much as the previous books in this series.

One of the things I didn’t like about this book was that it spend a very little time on Hardin before he met Tessa, and I really wished that the author could have spend more time on Hardin before he met Tessa, so that we could learn more about him and see how much he have changed because of Tessa.

The writing style feels a little bit off in this book because it didn’t feel like the previous books in this series, but “after ever happy” had the same problem as this book when it comes to the writing style because the writing style in both of those books didn’t feel like it was written by the same person as book 1 to 3 in this series.

However the way this book was made showing us 3 aspects of Hardin, before, during and after the drama with Tessa, really made me love him so much more. Because its clear how much he have changed because of Tessa.

This book is the entirely written from Hardin’s perspective and I really like this but I wished that this book could have been longer because this book was way too short than I wanted it to be. Because I wanted to spend more time with Hardin and Tessa because this book is the final book in this series. And I didn’t want the end to come as soon as it did.

“Paris: The Memoir” By Paris Hilton Review

Founder. Entrepreneur. Pop Culture Maker. Innovator. Survivor. Activist. Daughter. Sister. Wife. Mom. These are roles Paris Hilton embraces now as a fully realized woman. Paris rose to prominence as an heiress to the Hilton Hotels empire, but cultivated her fame and fortune as the It Girl of the aughts, a time marked by the burgeoning twenty-four-hour entertainment news cycle and the advent of the celebrity blog. Using her celebrity brand, Paris set in motion her innovative business ventures, while being the constant target of tabloid culture that dismissively wrote her off as “famous for being famous.” With tenacity, sharp business acumen, and grit, she built a global empire and, in the process, became a truly modern icon beloved around the world.

Its important to say that I didn’t know a lot about Paris Hilton before reading this book, and this is the reason why I decided to buy and read this book.

This book is very interesting, enjoyable and very engaging in a way. Ive read this book in one day so its very easy sign that I just couldn’t put this book down because I was sucked into this book and learning more about Paris Hilton.

Before reading this book I wasn’t a fan of Paris Hilton, but after reading this book I’ve learned a lot about her and saw how much shit she went through in her life and because of it, I grow to like her and in a way look up to her because this book shows that there are much more to her than what meets the eye on the interest or in the gossip newspapers.

In the prolog she kept jumping from thought to thought a lot and it made me think that the rest of the book will be just as poorly organized as the prolog but it was actually very far from the truth. And really this book is really worth reading even if you are like me before reading this book, who didn’t like her at all.

The cover of this book is pink which really makes you think that this book will be happy and not have anything bad in this. But don’t be fooled. Thats far from the truth. Because Paris Hilton in this book really talks about all the bad shit she went through in her life and it involves all from beating beaten up, being forced to take drugs, made to do some creepy shit and PTSD. There are a lot of things that are really hard to read about in this book and I just cant image how all of those things must have felt like to be Paris Hilton in this situations she went through in her life.

The writing style in this book is amazing because it is really simple and it was like having a one-on-one conversation with Paris Hilton because it was a every day language.

In this book Paris Hilton gets really really honest with us and spills all the things she went through which really made me change my opinion about her after reading this book.

“Notes on a Nervous Planet” By Matt Haig Review

The societies we live in are increasingly making our minds ill, making it feel as though the way we live is engineered to make us unhappy. When Matt Haig developed panic disorder, anxiety, and depression as an adult, it took him a long time to work out the ways the external world could impact his mental health in both positive and negative ways. Notes on a Nervous Planet collects his observations, taking a look at how the various social, commercial and technological “advancements” that have created the world we now live in can actually hinder our happiness. Haig examines everything from broader phenomena like inequality, social media, and the news; to things closer to our daily lives, like how we sleep, how we exercise, and even the distinction we draw between our minds and our bodies.

This book has to be easily the best self help book I’ve read so far. This book literally consumed me while I was reading it and I found it very hard trying to pull myself away from this book, because it was so interesting.

This book was the first book ive read from Matt Haig and I need to say that I will read the rest of his books soon, because I absolutely loved this book and how it was written as well as how easy and understandable the author makes this book. If his books are as good as this one he will become my favorite author very easily.

This book makes a lot of good points about mental health and how to navigate our mental health in the era of instagram, Facebook, twitter, consumerism and internet in general. Which becomes a more and more relevant topic as more of our lives take place on the internet.

As someone who is dealing with panic attacks and depression I need to say that this book is very helpful and really motivates you to get your life back together even if it may seem very very hard or impossible at times.

As I’ve said above this book is very easy and simple to understand, which is a big reason why I love this book so much because even if this book uses a big words, the author takes the time to explain the term in a smooth and easy way. And the big words in this book are very rare because the author uses a very understandable language and not a lot of complex terms.

In this book, the author shares with us his personal experience dealing with mental health and what helped him and what he still struggles with decades later dealing with his mental health problems. Which really makes it relatable if you are struggling with your mental health and makes you realize that you aren’t the only one struggling even if it may seem like you are the only one.

This book shows you how you can take small steps when it comes with dealing with mental health problems, which may seem too small to matter what they will matter in the long run.

This book also inspired me to take a break from social media and try to quite the process of mindlessly scrolling through instagram, twitter or Tik Tok for hours each day and rather pick up a book.

The writings style here was amazing, it was like the author knew what words to use to fully grab my attention and to not let it go until the very end of this book. Which I complete love when it happens in books, but more so in non-fiction books.

When it comes to the ending of this book I thin it was a little bit weaker than the rest of this book, it wasn’t super bad or horrible but you could feel like this book gets a little bit worse during the last chapter of this book.

“Sleeping Beauties” By Stephen King & Owen King Review

In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep; they become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, and the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place. The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease. Is Evie a medical anomaly to be studied, or is she a demon who must be slain?

Ive heard a lot of good things about this book, but after reading it I have to say that it didn’t live up to my expectations for it. And I don’t know how this book was the best horror book of 2017 on Goodreads, because it isn’t even close to being a horror book but rather a fantasy book in my opinion.

The plot in this book was very uninteresting for me personally and I just had a very hard time trying to finish this book and not DNF it after reading 15% of it. Because I found it very boring and there wasn’t anything slightly interesting which took place in this book.

The characters here were so very bad, like they almost didn’t feel like characters even partly created by Stephen King, which really pissed me off because this book has to be the book I dislike the most (so far) coming from Stephen King.

All of the characters in this book are very shallow, boring and have no personality which makes them blend into each other and makes them hard to tell apart from the rest of the trashy characters in this book.

The characters in this book are very stereotypical, which really made me laugh at some moments during the process of reading this book.

The characters here really made me realize that all the newer works from Stephen King I’ve read after like the 2000 just doesn’t do the same thing to me as the OG Stephen King books. And it made me think more and more about that Stephen King might be one of those authors who gets worse and worse as a storyteller with more books published.

The writing style in this book was something I didn’t expecting to come from the master of horror himself. I get that this book was written by Stephen and Owen King, two different persons. The writing style was consistent and didn’t change itself depending who wrote what but still it was very bad and trashy even.

The writing style actually made the entire experience of reading this book worse for me because the entire time I was reading this book I was thinking “this book wasn’t written by Stephen King”. This is because the writing style is so different in this book from all of the rest Stephen King’s books even those once I didn’t like and commented on that the writing style in them were bad.  But the writing style in this book hits a new low for Stephen King in my opinion.

Another thing which made me annoyed while reading this book was the dialogues in this book, which sometimes would get ridiculously bad.

The last thing about this book which annoyed me here was that this book was way too long than it needed to be. This book is over 700 pages long (depending on what version of this book you get) and very easily it could have been cut in half and do much better job than it did with over 700 pages

However the premise which this book has is good and for sure very unique which I haven’t come across of yet, but just the way it is presented to us mixed with very bad characters and bad writing style just makes it a good book to start a fire with rather than actually reading it.

The fact that this book was cowritten by Stephen King’s son, Owen King, really made me so uninterested in other writing stuff by Owen King which I don’t think I’m gonna be getting into any time soon.

“After Ever Happy” By Anna Todd Review

Book Four of the After series—now newly revised and expanded, Anna Todd’s After fanfiction racked up 1 billion reads online and captivated readers across the globe. Experience the Internet’s most talked-about book for yourself! #HESSA

I cant believe that this book is the last book in the “After” series, but I gotta say that this series was a roller coaster of a ride.

However I need to be honest and admit that this book had a very different feeling to it then the previous 3 books in this series. It just didn’t feel like it was written by the same author. The characters and plot was still good but it just didn’t have the same felling to it. But the drama between Hardin and Tessa isn’t the same as it was in the 3 previous books.

Hardin and Tessa are still the most characters to be ever created, and I just cant believe that my journey with them are over. Because I love them so much.

Both Tessa and Hardin have so much personality to them and emotions that they feel like real human beings rather than fictional characters. I personally would have no problems being friends with both Tessa and Hardin.

Throughout this entire book I was seating at the edge of my seat because I knew that this book is the big finally and I were dying to know if Tessa and Hardin are the end game or not. And I cant give you an answer to you because I not gonna spoil anything for you.

The writing style here felt different from the rest of this series, just as it was written by a different person. Which I’ve touched upon it before in this review. And this is the main reason why I choice to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 star even thou I wanted to give it the full score.

The ending here is amazing, and there was a point near the end where this book got me crying like a baby because of the things which were happening. I really wanted to scream at the author. But after finishing the book I realized that this moment was important because if we didn’t get it, the whole ending would have been very different and it wouldn’t be so satisfying as it was.

“Tess of the D’Urbervilles” By Thomas Hardy Review

When Tess Durbeyfield is driven by family poverty to claim kinship with the wealthy D’Urbervilles and seek a portion of their family fortune, meeting her ‘cousin’ Alec proves to be her downfall. A very different man, Angel Clare, seems to offer her love and salvation, but Tess must choose whether to reveal her past or remain silent in the hope of a peaceful future.

Ive heard a lot of good about Thomas Hardy, and thats why I picked up this book to just my journey with this author.

There are very few characters in this book, and we’ll those characters we get in this book are bad and I just couldn’t care less about them than I did. This is because I found every character in this book to be very annoying and I just wanted to slap the shit out of every single character in this book.

The main character in this book which is Tess was a very silly character, and because of that fact I found it hard to like her or even relate to her in any way. So its safe to say that I dint like her. But also she was the victim in every possible situation she was in, which really annoyed me because I don’t like those kind of characters which always portray themselves as victims every single time something happens to them.

However gave this book for challenging in a way and talking about double standards between men and females which I personally am not a huge fan off.

The plot itself in this book was very depressing and well there isn’t a lot of good things happening in this book. However the plot had shown really good the religious and social undertones of the time this book is sett in which made me like this book a little bit more.

While reading this book I got a huge feeling that the author didn’t knew a lot abut women because of he made the female characters as. Which really disappointed me because all of the female characters in this book we’re very bad and had the same problems as Tess have.

The writing style here was meh, to be honest. I cant compare the writing style to any other books written by the author because this book was the first book I’ve read by the author so I don’t have knowledge about other books about this author.

But the writing style in this book was not okay at the very least. It was like the author just throw at us words without thinking a lot about them. Which really didn’t sit well with me personally.

“The Brothers Karamazov” By Fyodor Dostoevsky Review

The Brothers Karamazov is a murder mystery, a courtroom drama, and an exploration of erotic rivalry in a series of triangular love affairs involving the “wicked and sentimental” Fyodor Pavlovich Karamazov and his three sons―the impulsive and sensual Dmitri; the coldly rational Ivan; and the healthy, red-cheeked young novice Alyosha. Through the gripping events of their story, Dostoevsky portrays the whole of Russian life, is social and spiritual striving, in what was both the golden age and a tragic turning point in Russian culture.

To be honest this book have taken me awhile to finish, because I would take a really long breaks in between reading this book. And I’m gonna explain why I did so later on in the review.

There is a lot of things going in this book, and all the things which was happening in this book were very intense and heavy topics.

This book is a murder mystery from none other than Fyodor Dostoevsky so you know there will be some very intense and heavy topics in this book. And not solely a straight forward mystery of finding the killer and the reason why.

My main problem with this book and well Fyodor Dostoevsky books, is that he stretched everything for far too long than it needed to be. So because of it I tend to lose focus and interest very fast with this book and with Fyodor Dostoevsky books in general.

The characters here were okay to be honest, I didn’t care enough about them to sort of create any opinions about them. But they weren’t bad nor good.

This book has some good moments, which really made my day while reading this book because I was ready to hate this book, which in the end didn’t happen.

The ending this book was interesting and enjoyable. Because it involved posting out the killer and the motive of why. Which really seeing that process in a Russian classic book was very enjoyable for me personally.

“The Snowman” By Jo Nesbø Review

Oslo in November. The first snow of the season has fallen. A boy named Jonas wakes in the night to find his mother gone. Out his window, in the cold moonlight, he sees the snowman that inexplicably appeared in the yard earlier in the day. Around its neck is his mother’s pink scarf. Hole suspects a link between a menacing letter he’s received and the disappearance of Jonas’s mother – and of perhaps a dozen other women, all of whom went missing on the day of a first snowfall. As his investigation deepens, something else emerges: he is becoming a pawn in an increasingly terrifying game whose rules are devised – and constantly revised – by the killer.

This book is the 7th book in the “Harry Hole” series, and in my opinion this book is the best book in this series so far, but I have still a few books from this series to read.

The plot in this book was very interesting and enjoyable. There was a lot of thing happening in this book, and from start to finish you were left sitting on the edge of your sit because of the tension which was going on this book.

The plot was very intense because of everything which was happening in this book and I personally loved it. The plot in this book really shines bright in this whole “Harry Hole” series.

The characters here are amazing, each character in this book is very unique and have something which sets them apart from the rest of the character. When it comes to Harry Hole, he truly shines in this book and for me personally in this book he is more than a drunk who is a police detective.

The writing style in this book is very good, because its like the author know what words to use to completely suck me into this book and to not let me go until the very end of this book.  Which I truly love when it happens in books.

When it comes to the ending of this book, and the whole process of catching the killer is very intestate and big. And wow, I’m just left speechless after reading the ending of this book because it was so amazing.

This book also made me somehow paranoid about snow mans, because if I’m gonna see a snow man in real life from this moment on, I will think about this book and about the killer in this book.
