“Into the Water” By Paula Hawkins Review

A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother’s sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she’d never return.

This was my first ever book written by Paula Hawkins and I gotta say that I was very disappointed because I have had heard so much good about this book which this didn’t book didn’t live up to for me.

The plot was very confusing and very boring. There are many POVs in this book which really annoyed me personally and at times I just couldn’t keep up with the plot. There are too many characters and to many switching of POVs was really made me want to DNF this book. The plot was on the edge of having a good mystery in it but every time the plot was starting to get even slightly exciting it was just killed off straight away. Which really made me personally very angry because I really wanted to like this book.

In general the plot in this book was all over the place and the ending really didn’t bring the big revel but rather an DNF from me when I was just 8 pages away from the end.

The writing style was bad but of course there were parts where the writing style was okay but come on I need more than that to like it.

“The Great Gatsby” By F. Scott Fitzgerald Review

Young, handsome and fabulously rich, Jay Gatsby is the bright star of the Jazz Age, but as writer Nick Carraway is drawn into the decadent orbit of his Long Island mansion, where the party never seems to end, he finds himself faced by the mystery of Gatsby’s origins and desires. Beneath the shimmering surface of his life, Gatsby is hiding a secret: a silent longing that can never be fulfilled. And soon, this destructive obsession will force his world to unravel.

This is an amazing book but very overrated in my opinion. Because it yes it is good but not as good as people on the internet claim it to be.

This book is in a way a tragic book about a love story without an happy ending which is most perfect love story which could possible exist.

The love story in this book is complete flawless which really made this book so much better for me personally.

This book is one of these unique books which you can read several times, never get bored of it but also with each time you read it you notice something new. Which really shows in my opinion how good this book is.

The plot here is amazing here but I still had every once and a while hard time with fully connecting with the story. It might have something to do with a lot of action happening in a very short time. The plot however was very unique because I never come across a plot which was never slightly similar to this one yet of course.

The writing style here was very old timey but it fitted very well with the plot and how  the plot was presented to us. The writing style really felt like we were in the story like a third person in the round rather than reading about it.

The characters here were very good, they felt like real people who lived back in the day and I really liked every character presented in this book. Jay Gatsby felt like the classic best friend neighbour who later turns out to be a drug dealer or mob leader. But hey that’s what it made me like this book so much.

After reading this book Jay Gatsby became one of my top 10 favourite fictional characters because there is something mysterious to him but also something of a hopeless romantic in a way.

“Grzesznik” By Artur Urbanowicz Review

Without waiting for further developments, he and his faithful people decide to face him once and for all. The settlements end tragically – Marek falls down the stairs and suffers a strong concussion. When he regains consciousness after a week’s coma, it turns out that his group has been shattered and all the money earned through years of criminal activity is gone. His opponent, through his brutal and uncompromising achievements, once baptized as a Sinner by the media, makes himself known as a brilliant, incredibly intelligent psychopath who knows no mercy. He confronts Dry with a choice – he will either give in, or he will be taken from everything he has ever enjoyed. To make matters worse, Mark’s terrifying new abilities are revealed shortly after the accident

Another amazing book from the polish author Artur Urbanowicz. This was my third book written by Artur Urbanowicz and so far it was probably my second favourite but also it makes me realise that Artur Urbanowicz is criminal underrated.

After reading this book I need to say that Artur Urbanowicz have surprised me with this book in a good way of course. Because it really felt like a masterpiece.

The description of this book is very misleading I need to say after reading this book because it really have taken a entire new turn after like 2/3 part of this book. Because this book started with a typical mob leader theme but then after like the 2 / 3 this book have taken an entire new turn to a different theme which I can’t revile because it will classify as a spoiler.

The plot of this book was very interesting and super enjoyable because it sort of was a typical mob plot but then it started to take more and more different turn which I really enjoyed.

The writing style was amazing. The writing style felt like it was written by Stephen King and not like an author who only have written like 5 full books at this point. What Im trying to say is that it feels like it was written by someone who have bigger experience rather than just 5 books.

The ending have had an okay twist there, of course it could have been better but I can’t complain because it was good enough. But the really the ending made me give this book 1 star less than I intended to give it originally. Because it sort of killed of the eerie mood which this book was building up since the beginning which really disappointed me.

“Tales of Norse Mythology” By Hélène A. Guerber Review

Scandinavians of the Viking Age explored the mysteries of life through their sagas. Folklorist Helene Adeline Guerber brings to life the gods and goddesses, giants and dwarves, and warriors and monsters of these stories in Tales of Norse Mythology. Ranging from the comic to the tragic, these leghends tell of passion, love, friendship, pride, courage, strength, loyalty, and betrayal.

This book have fucked up couple of names when it comes to the norse mythology, I know this since Ive been interested in the norse mythology for years now and I’ve read a lot about it by now.

You have to know that if you want to get into norse mythology then this book isn’t the choice here. Of course this book has these amazing stories from the norse mythology but this book is very dry and it might make you hate norse mythology before you give it a good shot.

To be full honest with you this book doesn’t tell us the stories of the norse mythology but rather just reports them to us which really made be so uninterested at times and so bored of this book.

However this book needs to get points for giving us a good idea about the personality and the look of the major gods and goddesses in the the norse mythology which I really liked.

The writing style here was very okay for the most part but to be fully honest here with you the writing style in this book was a roller coster ride because it had many good moments but it also had many bad moments.

For the most part this book had a very simplistic overview of the gods which really annoyed me at times.

“Dune” By Frank Herbert Review

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, heir to a noble family tasked with ruling an inhospitable world where the only thing of value is the “spice” melange, a drug capable of extending life and enhancing consciousness. Coveted across the known universe, melange is a prize worth killing for.

Ive heard so much good about this book which it didn’t live up to which really had disappointed me because I really wanted to like this one as well.

I need to be honest that I was bored the entire time I spend reading this book which really made it to a torture. Of course there have been many good moments in this book which made me slightly interested but these moments came very going to an end every time they showed up.

In my opinion there were too many descriptions in this book which really made it even more boring for me. But also the most annoying thing with this book for me was he way Paul’s mom describing him because it was super weird and somehow uncomfortable at times.

This book feels horribly outdated when you read this book for the first time in 2020s as I did. This book was also at times almost incomprehensible.  The reason why I say that this book is outdated is because it is prim and  the scientific dialogue in this book are so heavy that makes you realise very quick that no one would ever actually speak like that now.

The reason why I give this book 2 stars and not 1 star is because that this book is the foundation for the modern science fiction in a way.

The beginning of this book was very good but the further we went into this book the worse it got and it ended up that I just DNF-ed this book when I was 68 pages from the end because I just couldn’t do it anymore.

The writing style here was very old and you can clearly see that it was written over 50 years ago to say at least

“The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” By Suzanne Collins Review

Ambition will fuel him. Competition will drive him. But power has its price. It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the tenth annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to outcharm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute.

This book is probably best typical YA book I’ve read in 2022. And it is easily the best book in the Hunger Games series. It is as well about the most interesting character in this whole series which of course is Coriolanus Snow I personally always liked him from the first time he was introduced to us in the original trilogy.

The beginning of this book was pretty boring because it was mostly about somehow rich kid and his struggles but the more this book kept going the more I’ve personally enjoyed this book.

I needed to be honest here with you and say that this book didn’t feel like it go in too deep on how President Snow became the corrupt person he was in original Hunger Games trilogy but it defiantly it was the beginning on how and why he was the person he was in the original Hunger Games Trilogy which I pretty much enjoyed.

The plot was super interesting, enjoyable and it really sucked me into it and I just couldn’t put the book down. Which really made me turn this book into one of my favourite YA books so far. The plot was super engaging and I really had a great time reading this book.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the original hunger games trilogy but really this book was the greatest thing ever and it really made the appreciate this whole series much more than I’ve did.

The writing style was a typical YA genre writing style but really it made an amazing mix with the plot and the rest of this book. The writing style was super easy but still enjoyable and really I wish that the original trilogy was like this one.

The almost all characters were amazing here, there were a few character which were a pain in the ass.  But still these characters we’re very few so I can overlook it and really enjoy the characters which were amazing and brilliant.

I personally could relate a lot with Coriolanus Snow which really made me give this book more points.

“The Struggle” By L.J. Smith Review

This is the terrifying story of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them: Damon: determined to make Elena his queen of darkness, he’d kill his own brother to possess her.Stefan: desperate for the power to destroy Damon, he succumbs to his thirst for human blood.Elena: irresistibly drawn to both brothers, her choice will decide their fate.

This one is the second book in the “Vampire Diaries” series. I gotta be honest here and say that as this series continues the more different it becomes from the tv series. But I don’t mind that because somehow I like the book series better but I still picture every character as the actor who played the character in the tv show.

This book has a little bit more vampire content than the first book in this book series. Which really gets more and more interesting and I find myself enjoying it. And this book picks up exactly where the first book ended which I always love it when it happens.

The characters in this book gets more development and you can see them changing in a way as different things are happening to them and in the town. Which really makes me love this book more and the whole series.

The writing style is the same as in the first book. It is easy and simple and it still a good fit with the plot.

The plot here is very YA style but I found myself enjoying it much more than I’ve expected.  The plot in this book doesn’t take a lot of brain power just as in the first book in this series. However the word “Vampire” wasn’t even once said in this book nor in the first one. Maybe in the third book it will happen.

The ending here is spicy. Because it leaves us at a cliff-hanger there. But to be honest it keeps me wanting to keep reading this series just to find out how the series will end.

“The Awakening” By L.J. Smith Review

A Love Triangle of Unspeakable Horror. Elena. Searching for the ultimate thrill, she vowed to have Stefan. Stefan. Haunted by his tragic past, he struggled to resist her passion. Damon. Driven by revenge, he hunted the brother who betrayed him. The terrifying story of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.

The first book is way different than the tv series let me tell you that. The only thing in common is some of the names of characters in both the series and this book. And other than that the plot, character appearances, events etc are way different.

The plot here is good. Its not a masterpiece but it is good enough to have me being engaged in it, interested in it, enjoying it, turning the pages and keep reading this series. The plot here is much better than Twilight because Elena is very likeable and she isn’t so fucking annoying as Bella. The plot here is better in every way. And Elena is begging Stefan or Damon in every chapter to turn her into a vampire.

Of course there is some drama in this book and in this series as a whole. There isn’t so much melodrama in this book but it will be as we keep going in this series. But I don’t mind that when it comes to some YA books as this one and this series.

The characters are amazing. Because they feel like real human beings and there is so much depth in them. It is very easy to tell them apart because they are sp different from each other in a good way of course.

The writing style here is amazing. It is simple, easy as in every other YA book. But this simple writing style really adds a lot to this book in a positive way which I really enjoyed. Because the plot is very easy and doesn’t need a lot of brain power. Which means that the writing style and the plot play along with each other.

If this series continues to be as good as this book then L.J. Smith might become my favourite author.

“The Communist Manifesto” By Karl Marx & Friedrich Engels Review

The Communist Manifesto is one of the most influential pieces of political propaganda ever written. It is a summary of the whole Marxist vision of history and is the foundation document of the Marxist movement. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were aged 29 and 27 respectively when The Communist Manifesto was published on the eve of the 1848 revolutions. The authors had been close collaborators since 1844, and the Manifesto is a condensed and incisive account of the world-view they had evolved during their hectic intellectual and political involvement of the previous few years.

This book have been on my TBR for couple of years now and I finally read it. I personally am super interested in politics so this book was sort of a must read for me and many friends of mine have recommended it so here we are to talk about the book.

Some of the ideas in this book are interesting however these ideas were to explaining communist ideology in that historical period which I personally enjoyed a lot. However this ideology as other ideologies looks good only on paper.

This book is worth reading no matter what your believes are and what your opinions are because it gives us a good look into the communist ideology in a historical period when it was pretty fresh. This book is worth a reading because of being able to understand its historical value in a sense.

This book is somehow deeply entrenched in economics of the mid 19th century ish and full of straw man arguments, which not work for everyone if you are not interested in history or politics.

It is somehow shameful to call this book an apex of socialist/communist theory. Because it is he height of a programme to get out of it nor the height of a critique of capitalism.

Of course this book is full of old English because it was written so long ago but in my opinion it gives more to this book and the whole communist ideology.

“Midnight Sun” By Stephenie Meyer Review

When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella’s side of the story. At last, readers can experience Edward’s version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.

To be full honest here this book is the best book in the whole Twilight series but also after reading this book I went from hating Edward to actually liking him.

The entire twilight series should have been written from Edward’s perspective because it makes it so much likeable and enjoyable than from Bella’s perspective.

The main reason why I always hated this series is because of Bella, to be me she is the most insufferable character every and nothing having a book being from her’s perspective makes this whole series so much better.

This book had some very cringy moments which this entire series is full off. But the amount of cringy moments were actable and it really made me like this book so much better for whatever reason.

The plot of this book is of course the same as the first book in this series but it feels so much better than the first book. Because it is longer, more is explained in this book and also we don’t get the annoying and insufferable Bella’s perspective.

The writing style in this book was so much better than what I’ve expected from this book. It really made me give this book some extra points because it felt like I was there in the book.

Seeing Edward’s thoughts and inner struggle made this book amazing. And it really made me like him even that I hated him during the first 4 books in this series. This book makes him to just a better character than the first 4 books in this series. It could be just me but it really gives us more insight to him and it gives this series just a better light than the first 4 books in this series.

The characters here were such more enjoyable than in the first 4 books in this series expect of Bella. She is as insufferable as she always have been during this entire series and in the movies. This book really made me switch from Team Jacob to Team Edward just because we learn more about him and his family.
