“The Hostile Hospital” By Lemony Snicket Review

There is nothing to be found in the pages of these books but misery and despair. You still have time to choose something else to read. But if you must know what unpleasantries befall the charming and clever Baudelaire children read on…The Hostile Hospital – There are many pleasant things to read about, but this book contains none of them. Within its pages are such burdensome details as a suspicious shopkeeper, unnecessary surgery, heartshaped balloons, and some very starling news about a fire. Clearly you do not want to read about such things.

I need to admit that I almost gave this book a 4 star rating. Because this book is much weaker than the previous 7 books in this series.

The plot in this book goes much darker than in the previous books. Because in this book Count Olaf and his Co, are trying to decapitated Violet’s head as one of his get-rich schemes.

The character are so amazing. They are even better than they were in the first book in this series. You can truly see the character development happen in each book which is the most satisfying thing to see in this series.

The writing style in this book, as in this series as a whole (so far) is incredible. Its so good, that I can’t even put words to it. You really have to read this series to really understand what I’m talking about.

However this book is different from the previous book. Because we don’t see count Olaf personally in this book but rather him talking through an intercom and ordering is trop to do the work for him.

In this book Violet, Klaus and Sunny or on the Run because the newspapers have painted them as as murders. So this is a unique turn of events for this series.

And the ending is well unique. Because Violet, Klaus and Sunny decide to do a very stupid and brave thing. Which I would never do if I was in their situation. Of course I can’t say what I’m talking about because I don’t want to give spoiler in this review.

I Give This Book 5 / 5

“The Complete Sherlock Holmes” By Arthur Conan Doyle Review

This fantastic collection is accompanied by an exciting new introduction from Robert Ryan, a writer who’s own book has been fully endorsed by the Conan Doyle Estate. A big Holmes fan himself, he will undoubtedly provide a fascinating new look at the detective and his bizarre ability to read both people and objects, in order to discover who dunnit.

This book is the ultimate book gift for every book worm and lover.

This book contains all Sherlock Holmes books and short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Each of these stories and books I’ve already reviewed last year so feel free to read them if you are interested.

All of the stories in this book are very enjoyable. Of course some all less great than others but they all are worth your time and the money which you spend on this book.

Sherlock Holmes and doctor Watson are an amazing due and I loved they both because they have something in them which makes us relate to them.

The writing style here was amazing and really shows how good author sir Arthur Conan Doyle was.

There could be more illustrations in this book just to make it better good looking as a whole but still I don’t complain.

“The Vile Village” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader, You have undoubtedly picked up this book by mistake, so please put it down. Nobody in their right mind would read this particular book about the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire on purpose, because each dismal moment of their stay in the village of V.F.D. has been faithfully and dreadfully recorded in these pages. I can think of no single reason why anyone would want to open a book containing such unpleasant matters as migrating crows, an angry mob, a newspaper headline, the arrest of innocent people, the Deluxe Cell, and some very strange hats. It is my solemn and sacred occupation to research each detail of the Baudelaire children’s lives and write them all down, but you may prefer to do some other solemn and sacred thing, such as reading another book instead.

To be fully honest, in my opinion has to be the weakest book in the series so far. But I still loved it but a little bit less than the previous 6 books in the series

This book really surprised me a lot because this book in a way left the whole Olaf chasing after the kids topic a little bit behind in this book. And this book was rather a Hot Fuzz situation, where the entire town used Violet, Klaus and Sunny as slaves to do the houses of everyone in town. The house work which Violet, Klaus and Sunny had to do, was take out the garbage, clean the fountain in town centre etc.

As I’ve said the plot was a different from the previous 6 books, which maybe is the reason why I loved this book less than the previous books. But I still had my fun with it, and I kept waiting for when would Count Olaf show up in town.

In this book we get very little of Count Olaf and his Co. To be fully honest we see Count Olaf in the last 3 chapters or so.

After reading this book I was left with 2 questions. The first question is how does Count Olaf always know where Violet, Klaus and Sunny are? And the second question is how does Count Olaf get the ideas for new schemes and new disguises ?

In this book, Klaus has his birthday, he is finally 13 if I remember correctly. Of course his birthday wasn’t ideal. To be fully honest if I had a birthday like his I would be pissed. But that pretty much summarise up this entire series doesn’t it? Being followed by unfortunate and very sad events isn’t the best.

“Snake Oil” By Jay Lang Review

Alone in Canada after her parents retire to Scotland, Sophie Grant is content to finish her degree without partaking in the rowdy university lifestyle. So it seems like Fate when at the single party her roommate Tessa forces her to attend, she meets the charming and chivalrous Brandon Chase. In a whirlwind, Sophie finds herself smitten and living with the man of her dreams.

After reading this book I can’t understand why this book isn’t talk about and hyped. To be fully honest this book deserves to be hyped and talked about much more than all of Colleen Hoover’s Books.

When I finished the book I just can’t believe why so few people have read this book. Because this book is so much better than majority of the popular books.

This book starts with a college girl falling in love with an slightly older guy. But it quickly gets the eerie feeling but you can’t place the finger to what’s wrong.

The plot here is amazing. From the very first page of this book you just can’t stop reading this book. This book starts very innocent but the more you read, the more you start suspecting that something will happen.

The characters in this book are very good. They feel like real human beings. Which I personally love when it happens in a book. Because then the characters are more relatable.

The main character in this book, is a sweet college student. And the guy she falls in love with is a manipulative liar and a psychopath. But we don’t see it until the big climax of this book.

The writing style here is very incredible. It felt like reading the author knew what words to use to really grab your attention.

The big climax of this book, is incredible. Because it involved a big twist and there is a lot of things happening.

“Slow Horses” By Mick Herron Review

London, England: Slough House is where the washed-up MI5 spies go to while away what’s left of their failed careers. The “slow horses,” as they’re called, have all disgraced themselves in some way to get relegated here. Maybe they messed up an op badly and can’t be trusted anymore. Maybe they got in the way of an ambitious colleague and had the rug yanked out from under them. Maybe they just got too dependent on the bottle—not unusual in this line of work. One thing they all have in common, though, is they all want to be back in the action. And most of them would do anything to get there─even if it means having to collaborate with one another.

Maybe the world of secret agents isn’t for me. Because it was the first book about a secret agent I’ve read and I ended up DNF-ing it pretty fast.

The plot here wasn’t my type to be honest. I had super hard time trying to get into the plot. My main problem with this plot is that is overly complicated. And the beginning of this book is very very slow.

The use of acronyms and nicknames was irritating because it was overused and it was super confusing trying yo remember who had which nickname and what these different acronyms meant in this book.

Characters in this book to be honest feel like the same person just using different clothes. There are couple of characters in this book and I just can’t name one of them because I just didn’t care for them and I just couldn’t find myself to even try to like them.

The main character feels more like a side character because a whole chapter can go by without the main character being even mentioned-

The writing style here was probably the best part of this book but still I felt like there was something missing here. The writing style here felt over complicated and it felt like it was written as a school textbook rather than a mystery / thriller book

This book is very chaotic and very confusing. I personnel had super hard time trying to focus on the plot which almost didn’t exist in this book.

“The Ersatz Elevator” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader, If you have just picked up this book, then it is not too late to put it back down. Like the previous books in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, there is nothing to be found in these pages but misery, despair, and discomfort, and you still have time to choose something else to read. Within the chapters of this story, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire encounter a darkened staircase, a red herring, some friends in a dire situation, three mysterious initials, a liar with an evil scheme, a secret passageway, and parsley soda.

This book is the 6th book in the “A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS” series. And so far this series gets better and better which each book.

I need to gives this book to having a twist in it which we didn’t see coming which really surprised me.

During the beginning of this book and the middle part of it we don’t see Count Olaf a lot, which really made it better because it us even bigger eerie feeling of not knowing what he was doing or when he will eventually turn up.

Violet, Klaus and Sunny are getting smarter, and they find new unique ways to catch Count Olaf and make the adults see that they were telling the truth about who Count Olaf is, in his new disguise.

The plot in this book is amazing. Because Violet, Klaus and Sunny get new guardian, the female guardian is a rich snob and the male guardian is actually very likeable character if it wasn’t for the fact that he goes all along with his wife’s snobby opinions.

There is a lot of adventure and mystery in this book just as in the previous 5 books in this series. Which might be the reason why I love this books so far.

“A Christmas Carol” By Charles Dickens Review

To bitter, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, Christmas is just another day. But all that changes when the ghost of his long-dead business partner appears, warning Scrooge to change his ways before it’s too late.  Part of the Focus on the Family Great Stories collection, this abridged edition features an in-depth introduction and discussion questions by Joe Wheeler to provide greater understanding for today’s reader. “A Christmas Carol” captures the heart of the holidays like no other novel.

This book is an amazing Christmas book. I didn’t read a lot of Christmas books so far but it gotta be the best Christmas book ever written.

The writing style in this book is the fully amazing and I really live for the writing style like this one.

The plot here have so many layers to it that I can’t even put the words to it. You really have to read this book for yourself and I promise you that you will have an amazing time reading this book.

The plot in this book begins very grim but as it goes on we can feel the growing Christmas spirit which I truly love.

The main character in this book is a vert unique character especially at the beginning but as this book goes on we grow to like him more and more. Which really made me love this book more because we can truly enjoy and see the character development in this book.

The all of the characters feel like real human being which I gave Charles Dickens a lot of extra points for.

“The Austere Academy” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader,  If you are looking for a story about cheerful youngsters spending a jolly time at boarding school, look elsewhere. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent and resourceful children, and you might expect that they would do very well at school. Don’t. For the Baudelaires, school turns out to be another miserable episode in their unlucky lives.

Another amazing book from the “series of unfortunate events” series. This book is the 5th book in the series.

The character are so amazing. They are even better than they were in the first book in this series. You can truly see the character development happen in each book which is the most satisfying thing to see in this series.

Violet, Klaus and Sunny are getting smarter, and they find new unique ways to catch Count Olaf and make the adults see that they were telling the truth about who Count Olaf is, in his new disguise.

However we get very little of Count Olaf in this book. In the previous books he had more or less a role near Violet, Klaus and Sunny but not its a little bit different.

This book has the same amazing, eerie vibe which the first book had. To be honest it might have even bigger eerie vibe than the first book. Because we are on the 5th book so we know that Count Olaf will turn up with his troop and with his schemes very soon.

The plot in this book is amazing. Because Violet, Klaus and Sunny are send to a boarding school. And Violet, Klaus And Sunny gets new friends. But at the same time the principle is an idiot and not the kindest person.

I have one question about this series so far. And that question is how is Count Olaf able to find Violet, Klaus and Sunny so fast as he does ?

The writing style in this book, as in this series as a whole (so far) is incredible. Its so good, that I can’t even put words to it. You really have to read this series to really understand what I’m talking about.

There is a lot of adventure and mystery in this book just as in the previous 4 books in this series. Which might be the reason why I love this books so far.

“Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man” By Mary L. Trump Review

Mary Trump spent much of her childhood in her grandparents’ large, imposing house in the heart of Queens, where Donald and his four siblings grew up. She describes a nightmare of traumas, destructive relationships, and a tragic combination of neglect and abuse. She explains how specific events and general family patterns created the damaged man who currently occupies the Oval Office, including the strange and harmful relationship between Fred Trump and his two oldest sons, Fred Jr. and Donald.

This book is promoted as a Donald Trump biography / nonfiction book but in fact it is rather a book about the Trump family history.

This book makes some good points about how dysfunctional the Trump family might have been according to the author but it comes from a person who wasn’t the biggest fan of her family so everything is to be taken with a grain of salt.

About 60% of this book is about the author’s father but the advertisement of this book says that it is about Donald Trump. This book felt like the author trying to work through her emotional pain rather than this book being about Donald Trump.

This book started with sort of trying to psychologically diagnose Donald Trump and then in the next chapters until the last it became the Trump family history book of sorts. And the last chapter became sort of the roasting chapter from the author on how stupid, bad, childish and dysfunctional Donald Trump is. This didn’t go well with me personally which explains the low rating due to my political views but this website is neutral when it comes to politics so we won’t discuss any politics on this website.

The writing style was very light and it actually made this book fun, enjoyable, interesting, quick and easy to read. The writing style made this book more likeable in my opinion.

“The Miserable Mill” By Lemony Snicket Review

Dear Reader, I hope, for your sake, that you have not chosen to read this book because you are in the mood for a pleasant experience. If this is the case, I advise you to put this book down instantaneously, because of all the books describing the unhappy lives of the Baudelaire orphans, The Miserable Mill might be the unhappiest yet. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are sent to Paltryville to work in a lumber mill, and they find disaster and misfortune lurking behind every log.

This book is the fourth book in the “series of unfortunate events” which is one of the greatest series ever written.

This book is very short just as the previous 3 books in this series. And I’ve done the same thing which I’ve did with the previous book which of course is reading the entire book in one sitting.

This book is a page turner just as the previous 3 books in this series. And so far I come to love this series more and more with each read book in this series.

The more books you reading in this series, the sadder you feel for Violet, Klaus and Sunny. Because Count Olaf is making more and more schemes and Violet, Klaus and Sunny can’t even catch a break.

The plot here gets a really sad, because Violet, Klaus And Sunny are forced to work in a lumber mill and Klaus gets hypnotised. At the same time it’s very interesting to read it and very enjoyable.

The plot in this book is highly depressing and terribly entertaining. Which is a unique mix between these two.

I need to give Count Olaf some credit because his get-rich schemes are getting better and better which each book.

The character are so amazing. They are even better than they were in the first book in this series. You can truly see the character development happen in each book which is the most satisfying thing to see in this series.

However Mr. Poe is still the blind idiot he was in the first book. At this point being in the fourth book, he really should get the hint of listening to Violet, Klaus and Sunny when they say that a person is Count Olaf is disguise. However it’s very satisfying to see him shown by Violet, Klaus and Sunny that they were right all along.

The writing style in this book, as in this series as a whole (so far) is incredible. Its so good, that I can’t even put words to it. You really have to read this series to really understand what I’m talking about.
