"Psycho" By Robert Bloch Review

88It was a dark and stormy night when Mary Crane glimpsed the unlit neon sign announcing the vacancy at the Bates motel. Exhausted, lost, and at the end of her rope, she was eager for a hot shower and a bed for the night. Her room was musty but clean and the plumbing worked. Norman Bates, the manager, seemed nice, if a little odd.

Finally Friday 13th, so why not review on of the classic books in horror field today. Psycho is one of the greatest books out there. Psycho is a MUST READ classic, from 1959. This book was written long ago, but not let this change your mind about this book because it is much better you think.

In this book we have perspectives from multiple characters, which makes this story more interesting than it would be if we had only one or two perspectives.

The main character Norman is just wow, I guess that I don’t have to explain him because most of you guys probably knows a lot about him. There are a lot of red flags with him. Norman as a main character is so brilliant, throughout this whole book we believe that he is doing bad thing to protect his mother. But as the end is closer and closer, we see that in fact his mother maybe isn’t the bad guy after all.

Throughout this whole book we are lead to believe that Norman wouldn’t harm anyone not even a Mosquito or could he? Norman is so complexed that it is hard to even describe him.

The end of this book brings an amazing twist to the whole story. We actually get clues and clues and hints throughout this whole book about the twist but most of the time we go like “no, it can’t be true”. This twist actually brings a lot to the story and it wouldn’t be the same without it.

The writing style is classy and amazing. Writing style defiantly sets the mood for the whole story and it gives us a creepy vibe.

This book isn’t scary, it is rather interesting and its one of the best thriller / mystery book out there.

If you are afraid of staying at motel rooms, this book will not help you with that fear.

Did you know that this book and Norman Bates was inspired by a murder and criminal who was arrested in 1957. This criminal and murder was Ed Gein.

“Pet Sematary” by Stephen King Review

As a family, they’ve got it all…right down to the friendly car. But the nearby woods hide a blood-chilling truth-more terrifying than death itself-and hideously more powerful. The Creeds are going to learn that sometimes dead is better.

The characters are just the amazing nothing more and nothing less. They are good described, they are different from each other and they feel again as real characters.

The story is completely unique and brilliant. I personally didn’t see anything even close to the plot of this book. This book makes you addicted to it and you can’t stop reading it, and you get so much into the story that you can read this book in 2 days.

I need to give you a warning because this book involves child deaths so if you get triggered by this than maybe don’t pick up this book.

The last 25 % of the book keeps you on the edge of the thing which you are sitting on, and your heart will go on a marathon run.

The vibe of this book is interesting, creepy, exiting and shocking. This book is defiantly super dark because it involves death. And it may fuck you up a little bit.

The writing style is very good. It goes very deep and the way how the whole book is written is just through the roof. The way how emotions are described in this book are on very high level.

This book deserves to be overhyped because it is brilliant. And you should have high expectations for this book if you haven’t read it.

The origin of the pet cemetery in this book, and why does something happening in this book are very good explained.

This book involves some hardcore death scenes so here is your warning.

"Greenlights" by Matthew McConaughey Review

91Biography book written by Academy Award® winning actor. This book is an unconventional memoir filled with raucous stories, outlaw wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living with greater satisfaction.

Alright, alright, alright. That’s what I’m talking about. This book very easily wins every rank in this blog. The fact that this book is a bestseller at New York Times (at the time of writing), really proves that this book is more than an good book.

This book deserves the hype which it got, and it is an MASTERPEICE. All these high expectations which you might have for this book are worth it, because this book is amazing. And no Matthew McConaughey didn’t pay me for say this, but I would love to interview him for this blog and talk about his book.

The storytelling which Matthew McConaughey give us in this book is brilliante. And these memorable stories from his life are something you will not forget so easily. I personally thing that his stories and the whole book will stay in my head for couple years at least.

Not only can Matthew McConaughey act but he can also write and he is a fantastic author and storyteller. And his passion makes it even more fun and enjoyable to read. And all these things together made me don’t want to end this book.

This whole book was so fucking engaging and brilliant to read that I couldn’t stop reading it. When I personally tok a break from this book I couldn’t stop thinking about this book. Which really shows how incredible Matthew McConaughey is at writing and storytelling.

The whole book felt like setting down with Matthew McConaughey, over a glass of whisky or bourbon or whatever you drink and listen to him telling you his whole life story. This book wasn’t a borden to reading about someones life story but rather as a motivational book.

This entire book was motivating, funny, well written, smooth as porcelain and something coming from the heart. This book shows that not only is Matthew McConaughey a great actor but also that he have some high writing and story telling skills which most author don’t have.

The quality of this book is surprising, because it is much better than you can expect. This whole book isn’t just 300 pages with words which you will forget in one month like a lot of biographies are. This book does also involve pictures, poetry and letters written by Matthew McConaughey. Matthew McConaughey dives deep into his life and himself to find the answer he were looking for throughout his life. And he brings these answers and questions in a form of a book.

If you are into biographies and you enjoy reading them just as I do, then this book is a MUST READ, no matter if you like, love or hate him. This book isn’t only about him. This book is also about people, different cultures, the Experiences in life and find your path in life.

This book is more or less may open your eyes on some stuff. because it involves death, strangling with your identity and how to find deal with “red lights”, “yellow lights “ and “green lights”.

"The Shining" by Stephen King Review

One of the classic in the horror field now on days. This book is a typical haunted house story which a lot of things go wrong in. However, this whole book have to it an very fun old timey tone to it.

The characters are again very well done. The descriptions and the tone to them are just through the roof. It feels like every character have its own soul in this book and it also feels like every one of these characters in this book are different from each other but at the same time alike at the same time. The characters are just wow and they feel like real people and just fictional characters in a Stephen King book.

The characters are so well done that you cant just don’t like them. The relationship between the characters was also incredible. You can feel the dynamic in all relationships and you can relate to both the relationships and the characters in this book.

The fact that it takes Jack so long time to turn into the psycho who wants to murder his family is amazing. It would have ruin this book if he had turned to the insane psychopath over night.

The thing with this book is the huge involvement of hallucinations ish in this book. Who doesn’t love a doze of hallucinations in books and movies?

In the end it isn’t a great horror story because its not that scary as people claim it is. But the story and overall everything in this book are an amazing piece of art.

Danny is sort of a main character and a lot of this book is written from his perspective. And here is the thing. Everything which happens when you are a child are sort of much scarier than it actually is. However there are times when Danny feels like a complete pain in the ass.

The point that there are very few characters in this book, makes it even more fun to read it. Because you don’t have to remember every character. And as we all know there is much better with having few characters but good characters than a lots of shitty characters who are poorly done. There is around 15 characters in this book,

In the end this book isn’t that scary, for the most part this book about family drama and how someone can go insane if they are isolated.

As someone who had read this book, I can tell you that this book is way overhyped. This book is not that scary and it is not that good as everyone is saying that it is. Of course it is a MUST READ, but let’s not get crazy. This book shows that Stephen King is one of the greatest authors of all times.

There are couple of boring and annoying parts in this book. But for the most part they are survivable. There are parts of this book which could have been cut out because they pretty much put anything to the story of this book.

The writing style itself is on point with Stephen King. Which means that it is advanced and good. It feels like every word was specially chosen to be there.

“Heath Ledger. Osobisty album Heatha Ledgera” by Suzanne Lander Review

93This one isn’t a typical book as we all book nerds imagine. This one is a photo album with descriptions of what kind of person Heath Ledger was.

In this book you can find some quotes from people who know him either from work, personal life or just had walked to school with him. In this book you can find a lot photos of Heath from different movies, galas or interviews.

98 % of this whole book are only pictures of Heath which it means that this whole book can be read in just 2-3 hours.

I personally had the best time ever reading this book and it gave me a much better understanding of who Heath Ledger was. And I need to say that I’ve cried once or twice while read this book, because Heath was and still is one of very few people I look up to.

This book also doesn’t fail to show us that Heath wasn’t just a “pretty boy”, he was intelligent, kind, nice and so much more than this. And his looks was just a bonus.

But I feel like the book could be better done. Like the cover, could be nicer done. The papers feels poorly done. But after all these things aren’t something which matters to that much of course if the book isn’t destroyed.

"The Amityville Horror" by Jay Anson Review

28 Days of Terror in a House Possessed by Evil Spirits In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their dream home, the same home where Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers and sisters just one year earlier. The psychic phenomena that followed created the most terrifying experience the Lutz family had ever encountered, forcing them to flee the house in 28 days, convinced that it was possessed by evil spirits.

So this book is described as one of American horror classic, which I personally wouldn’t put it there. This whole book is based on the experience which the Lutz family had in a house located on Ocean Avenue 112. When it comes to this topic you believe in it or you think that it is completely made up by someone.

Some events in this book are very similar to something which would happen in a haunted mansion in Disney Land or in a Conjuring movie. You know like flying candlesticks etc.

I personally would categorize this book as a horror novel than a book based on true events, because demons, ghouls, specters or whatever you want to call it doesn’t exist. As you can see I am one of these people who believes that this book was just a get rich scheme made by the Lutz family.

The writing style is very similar to something which a 12-year old would write. Its very so poorly written and mostly the language used in this book is pretty much a language which again a 12 year old would use.

Cliffhangers are recurring theme in this book. There are a lot of them in this book.

Characters are more or less based of real people. But they aren’t likeable at all and they are again really poorly written.

If you don’t read this book, you wont miss out on anything important.

Scariness level in this book are none existing. I never been in Disneyland but I think that the haunted house or mansion they have are much scarier than this book.

"James Dean. Żyć szybko" by Philippe Besson Review

Living fast is therefore an impressionistic portrait, which is to separate truth from falsehood, but myth has its own rules. The author plays various characters from the actor’s immediate environment and the biggest star of the time, to talk about him

Its a non-fiction written as a imagine create by the author. If this doesn’t throw you off, then keep reading and maybe read this book. It’s important to say that at the time of writing this book is only avaible in Polish and French.

What had annoyed me personally reading this book was that the author claims that this book is non-fiction but in the end it is the opposite. He creates stories about what people who know him thought about James Dean. There are also some chapters written from James Dean’s perspective which is another read flag why you shouldn’t read this book.

Some fans of James Dean may find this book rude or inappropriate. But that’s the world we live in.

This book would have been better if the author had  cut out the chapters written from James Dean’s perspective. What I mean by that is that chapters written from perspective of people who were around James Dean is fine for the most part.

The writing style is boring and out of place for a topic like this, because we don’t know what James Dean felt like in important moments in his life because we haven’t meet him and we didn’t talk to him. So we can’t write a non fiction book as a fiction book.

Overall this book is short, text itself is pretty big and you can literally read it in one sitting and pretty much you can read this book in one shitting.

"Auschwitz Lullaby" by Mario Escobar Review

Another book about the about Holocaust and about the World War 2. This is book is a Historical Fiction because there were parts of this book which were changed. However Historical Fiction are much easier to handle than Historical book. This whole book is overall based on events experienced by a family. And it really shows that love can survive everything even the holocaust and the death of a full family. This book really opens up your eyes and it makes you see that the earth is sometimes a place from the darkest nightmares. And to be honest this book changed me a little bit.

It is an emotional read, and sometimes this book is too hard to handle. You need sometimes stop reading and just think over what you just read. Because this book really goes into some very dark places.

The characters was of course more or less based of real person who were killed in the holocaust. And every character in this book was endearing and unforgettable. Every character in this book is very well written and described. And you can’t complain that these characters are poorly done because they aren’t.

The author did an amazing job with bringing the story of Helene Hannemann and her family. This book his heartbreaking and really strong story. Sometimes even too hard to handle as i had mentioned before.

Descriptions of the events in this book are brilliant as well. The size of this book is also good. Because it isn’t too long neither it is too short.

Visiting Auschwitz concentration camp and Auschwitz-Birkenau defiantly helps you to have an understand of the layout of the camp. But this book will work just as fine without visiting Auschwitz.

"Assassin’s Creed: The Official Movie Novelization" by Christie Golden Review

So this book is the official movie novelization of the “Assassin’s Creed” and oh boy I thought that the movie was bad. The book wasn’t better. I understand the idea of making a movie based of a book but I don’t understand the idea of writing a book based of a movie. But the movie had at Michael Fassbender.

The writing style was bad, bland and pretty much stripped of emotion even during tragic or emotionally charged moments.  The writing being so bad may have something to do with the fact that the author is not the same person who wrote the first books in this series.

I need to also point out that this book changes perspective a lot which may be very confusing for some people. There are also a lot of jumping back and forth between real world and the world which machines create.

The most of the characters in this book are so poorly written that it is hard to care about them. Like every fucking characters come out of nowhere and disappears without any reason just like a ghost would do in a horror movie. There are also plenty of characters who are boring because the author didn’t bother to tell us more about them and why we should care about them or like them

For the most part this book is full of cliffhangers because most of the chapter ends with them. And when something important happens the perspective changes to another character and you need to wait like couple of chapters for the important situation to continue. There are couple of plot holes it this book. And some of the are left unexplained at the end.

Watching the movie before you read the book will make the whole experience with this book a little bit better.

"Frozen Hell" by John W. Campbell Jr. Review

In 1938, acclaimed science fiction author John W. Campbell published the novella Who Goes There?, about a team of scientists in Antarctica who discover and are terrorized by a monstrous, shape-shifting alien entity. The story would later be adapted into John Carpenter’s iconic movie The Thing (following an earlier film adaptation in 1951). The published novella was actually an abridged version of Campbell’s original story, called Frozen Hell, which had to be shortened for publication.

The copy I at least have a super long first word from the publishers about the author and what he wrote before and after this book came out. So it ended about that my copy was 300 pages long but the story itself was 150 pages. However I give my copy extra point for the fancy the illustrations which are pretty much super fun to look when you are read the story.

This book was was published in 1938 and when we look at this book from the 2020 perspective then we will see that this book isn’t that unique after all. Because because there are a lot of books and series / movies which are very similar in plots to this book. But when we look back at 1938 then this whole idea behind the plot was pretty fresh and not so overused as it is today. So keep that in mind.

This book since it was published in 1938 was more or less a part of the origin stories behind the whole alien concept we see today in movies, books and series.

As you can expect the characters in this book are pretty flat and boring. I personally had very hard time to separating them apart, because many of these characters are so much similar in behavior that it makes it hard to say who is who in this book. It almost feels like that the author didn’t care as much about the characters as he did about the whole plot. If you want me to be honest here I need to say that all character in this book feels like just different version of the same person.

The descriptions about the characters aren’t much better from the characters themselves. What the author does with the descriptions about the characters is pretty much “he have blue jeans on, and she have nice shoes on”.

The decisions which are taken by the character feels like decisions taken by a 2 year olds and not like decisions taken by scientist with hopefully some experience. 

Writing style is actually good. To be honest the writing the style was the best part of the whole book. The writing style was interesting, and it was keeping me interesting. But there are times where it felt like it was written by a 14 year old.

The dialogs in this book were pretty hard to follow up with, it almost felt like the author smoked too much weed before writing the dialogs in this book. Because there were times where the dialogs on the same page felt like the chapters were separating them.
