"IT" by Stephen King Review

96It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them back to Derry to face the nightmare without an end, and the evil without a name.

There are parts of this book which are creepy. It was suspenseful and interesting. Almost throughout the book you will have the sense of dread. And the thing that there is some scary parts in it makes it even more interesting to read this book. If you are someone like me who are afraid of clowns this book will be even scarier for you.

This book is one of the classic horror books now on days which you just need to read.

The characters in this book, is probably the best characters I’ve ever read about (by far). We have 7 main characters which are Bill, Ben, Mike, Stan, Eddie, Richie and Beverly. There are also plenty of side characters. The descriptions of them are brilliant. And each and every one of them are unique in their own way. They are different from each other but still they have things in common. Everyone of them are bullied / abused either in school or at home.

For the most part all characters are very relatable. And i beat that everyone can relate themselves to at least one of the 7 main characters.

Richie are pretty much that one kid who is always cringe and awkward. He have a lot of annoying dialogues which may make you uncomfortable. because someone are so out of place.  He have a lot of embarrassing dialogs which made me at least cringe.

The story behind the 7 biggest losers in town getting together to fit the evil and powerful is just brilliant and amazing.

This book have over 1100 pages, and it would be better if it was separated into two books. Like first book about the 1957/1958 battle and the second book about the 1984/1985 battle.

There are a lot of jumping back and forward between 1957/1958 and 1984/1985. So keep that in mind.

The ending is pretty harsh. Because of the Gangbang at the end. Just be aware about the fact that Beverly fucks the rest of the members of “the loser club” in a cave when they are still kids. It is more or less a child orgy which is not the usual thing to involve in a novel.

The writing style, again Stephen King doesn’t disappoint with that. The writing style is at very high level and amazing.

The thing that Derry is short of a character of its own, makes this book even more unique. Yes Derry is a town but it is also an independent character in this book and a lot of Stephen King’s book.

Details, we get a lot of them. Details and descriptions in this book are through the roof. You will not miss any of them in this book. This book have a ton of details and descriptions.

The explanation of the villain in this book are brilliant. We get the explantation about both the background, power and creation of the villain which is very impressive.  And we learn this when Bill and the villain have a conversation at the end.

This book gives me at least sort of 1980s horror novel. It gives a tone to this book and really it makes even more impressive.

The Henry Bowers situation in this book in my opinion takes too much attention away from the main problem. Henry Bowers is basically a town bully who bullies every member of the Loser club. And it feels like he is everywhere in town.

The thing that this book over uses words like “Nigger” and “fucking homo”, doesn’t make easier. I get that 950s and 1980s weren’t the kindest times in history for gay people and black people but still come on, I don’t want to read these words 10 times on every page.

This book have also a deeper meaning to it. Which is about the magic of childhood and how kids can see things from a perspective from which adults can’t. It’s about how kids can accept things which adults can’t. But it is also about the true power of friendship and how a true friendship can survive even the worse things ever.

"Czarna Madonna" by Remigiusz Mróz Review

98Irish Airlines Boeing 747 was due to land in Tel Aviv at three in the morning. He never made it to the site and contact with the machine was lost somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. There were 520 people on board, including Philip’s fiancée, who was to make a pilgrimage to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. For the first hours, Filip believes that the plane will find itself. There is no indication of an attack, the coast guard does not find the wreckage, and from time to time the air traffic control receives a signal from a transponder. What happened to the Boeing? How is his disappearance related to similar events?

This book is sort of a religious horror if you can name this book as so. It is definitely a horror book which involves a lots of religious artefacts in it. So take that for what you want. It is important to point out that this book at the time of writing this review is only available in polish.

The whole plot was unique and interesting. But if you are not a religious person or you believe in some other religion than Christianity than you will find this book bad or confusing just like I did. Because it involves a lots of artefacts and details from Christianity which for someone who doesn’t know much about this religion will find confusing.

This book have a lot of positive opinions about it. But in the end this book could have been better.

We have two main characters in this book. These two characters are named Filip and Kinga, yeah I know very polish names. But they relationship is confusing a lot. Because Filip was a priest and Kinga is the sister of his fiancé. And they two have sort of a thing between them and the reason why Filip was dating her sister was because he wanted to be close to her. Yeah confusing. And throughout this book, there are points where Filip begins to have the huge monologs in his head about how much he wants to be together with Kinga not her her sister.

We have couple of characters in this book. But all of them expect of Kinga and Filip are boring and flat. It almost feels like the author didn’t care about all the other characters expect of the two main characters. However there are times when Filip feels so damn flat as a character and he the typical priest which basically goes “sorry, cant do that its against the stuff I believe in”. But there also times when he goes from the typical priest to a person who hires a medium and thinks that it will solve everything.

There are times where Filip acts like a complete teenager and most of the time when this happened you can expect that it involves Kinga. And it is important to say that when his wife come back at the end of this book it feels like they two are enemies and not dating and about to get married.

Writing style is pretty much good. The writing makes it easy to get quickly through this book. And the language is easy almost too easy.

Ending is confusing even more. There is a huge twist at the end which took me almost a day to understand. But the ending really isn’t so good as the rest of the book.

The whole idea behind this book is amazing. The idea of Filip being a retired priest and him sort of being possessed by demons together with that twist at the ending is priceless. But there are a lot of things which could have been better with this book.

The beginning is good, and there are times where this book goes down hill but in the end this book is pretty decent.

There are times while reading this book when you will get the feeling that this author was heavily inspired by Stephen King and Dan Brown while reading this book.

The action is that interesting as it could have been if the author had chosen to add more into the book. Because there are only one thing happening at anytime. It would be more interesting if there were more things happening at once.

“A Scream of Angels” by Joseph Nassise Review

A Scream of Angels is the second book in the “The Templar Chronicles”. And the whole series is kind of a Paranormal Fantasy type of series. There are demons, ghouls, swords swat team which can fight against the paranormal, etc in this series.

This book isn’t an advanced read, its rather a relaxing and fun read. Which you may want to get after you read something very heavy.  Generally this book isn’t a good book but it isn’t either a bad book, mostly it is an okay book.

This book is interesting but it’s not even close to what I’ve expected from it. This book is fun to read but it also have a lot of boring or even cringe parts every now and then. It isn’t a big deal after all.

The writing style is for the most part decent, it isn’t bad but it isn’t good either. There are some moments which made me feel like it could have been written better. There are also stuff which have would better instead of the stuff which was actually written in the book. In the end these are small things but together they are actually not so small. However this book or the book series isn’t for the most part meant for someone PH.D degree, but rather for teens who likes to read.

There are couple of plot holes in this book. an example can be the mirror-traveling-ish. There are a lot of magic in this book which I found confusing and hard to follow with. One of the main plot holes which blow my mind was at the beginning of the book when one of the main characters magically healed out of nowhere after being injured and almost dying

The characters are okay. Most of them were like pretty okay, they weren’t interesting enough but there weren’t neither completely trashy.  The main characters was some kind of better than the side characters. Because you could feel the relationship which they had with each other.

This whole book feels like something which kids in grade school would read. But it also works fine for adults who are starting their adventure with fantasy books or books in general. Because it is an easy to understand book and you don’t need to have PH.D degree in fantasy knowledge to like and understand this book. It is a good book when you want to shut down your brain and just relax for a moment.

This book works fine as long as you don’t question anything which is happening in this book. Stupid decisions taken by the characters is also something to keep in mind if you considering to read this book.

The story itself feels like it was used somewhere, but in the end it is good and pretty interesting overall.

«Mów Własnym Glosem» by Regina Brett Review

How to exercise courage? How to face everyday life in spite of our fears and fears? And finally – how to share your story so that it is inspiration and hope?

So this is another self-help books, the thing with self-help books is that you either love the book you just read or you completely hate it.

It is a quick read, and you will really read it in just 3-4 days. The text in this book are pretty big and the chapters are pretty small.

Every chapter is a different “lesson”, and every “lesson” isn’t longer than 5 ish sides. However none of these “lessons” are really lessons, they are pretty much stories from the author’s life. Which will not change anything in your own life.  And a lot of these so-called “lessons” were (in my opinion) targeting a special groups of people. Well come on we are in 2020 not in 1920.

This book have a lots of good reviews, but truly this book doesn’t deserve all these good reviews.  There were parts in this book that made me feel like the author wanted to squeeze every dollar from people who are buying this book.

If you watched some interviews with the author of this book. You will quickly see that what she writes in this book is the opposite of what she is saying in these interviews.site things which she say in some interviews which I had watched. She is also roasting herself a lot in this book which is probably something  you shouldn’t do in a book at least.

In the end these so-called “lessons” doesn’t learn you anything. And the entire book book feels like reading a blogger who is trying to be a journalist way too hard. And its probably too long because most of these “lessons” could have been one sentence long or 1 page long.

And how can you name random stories from the author’s life “life lessons” ? thats the big questions with this book. Another thing here is that bringing in every lesson religon is bad idea. Because thats why too much religion.

“Nightflyers” by George R. R. Martin Book Review

97A nine-member team of Academy scholars from the planet Avalon led by the astrophysicist Karoly d’Branin are searching for the volcryn, an enigmatic alien species with an advanced interstellar travel technology. The main protagonist is Melantha Jhirl, a dark-skinned genetically engineered human who is a head taller than the other scholars. Due to limited funds, d’Branin has hired the services of the Nightflyer, a modified trader owned by captain Royd Eris. The enigmatic Royd keeps to his own sphere of the ship, preferring to correspond with the passengers via hologram. Royd secretly spies on the passengers using computer monitors.

To be honest this book was the first George R.R Martin book I’ve read. Game of thrones books are on my 2021 TBR list, so expect these reviews in a couple of months.

I didn’t knew anything about this book when I was going into it. This book is sort of science fiction type of book. There is a lot of spaceship action. 99% of this book takes place in a spaceship.

The characters here are super flat and it is very difficult to tell them apart. Because they are so similar to each other and none of them have anything unique about them or something which will make you go “yeah thats that person”.  All these characters (expect of two) are so similar in behaviour that you will have very hard time separating them apart.

Writing style in this book are kind of similar to something which a 10-year-old would have written for a school assignment. The whole writing in this book is more or less “this happened and that happened.” For me personally the whole writing style felt lazy and it was almost like George R.R Martin was bored out of his mind when he was writing this book.

The ending is well bad, but still it is the best part of the book. This ending is the same as almost every other science fiction book or movie.

This book would be much better if it was longer and if George R.R Martin would bother to make the characters interesting and make us care about them.

In the end I need to give this book points for the unique idea behind it which we don’t see a lot of in science fiction books or shows.

It is important to say that this book have the potential to have more books written about it. Because it sort of leaves an open ending which means that there can be sequels, etc.

There are some very uncomfortable lines and there is way too much sexism. There are two lines which was used more than 5 times on every single page. These two lines were “I’m an improved model” and “I’m a sex machine”. Don’t think that these two lines were said by multiple characters in this book. These two lines were said by the same character over and over again. Every time that character said something it was involving one of these two lines. For me personally it was a torture.

Plot holes are also a huge part of this book. This book jumps in time like a lot. You will be reading one page and it will be about Day 1 of the adventures and then to begin to read page two and there will be like Day 50 of the adventures.

I promise you that you will have a lot of questions while you will read this book. And most of them will not be answered.

Descriptions feels like they were written by a 10-year-old. The descriptions are pretty much empty words without any deeper meaning.

Action in this book had the potential to be amazing and unique, but again George R.R Martin didn’t bother to give us this. There could be much more action than it actually was and the connection between the characters could have been shown but of course it wasn’t. And the dialogues aren’t much better. For the most part they are boring or cringe.

“Christine” by Stephen King Review

Arnie, a nerdy high school student, and his friend Dennis notice a dilapidated 1958 Plymouth Fury being sold by an elderly man with a back brace, Roland D. LeBay, who named the car “Christine”. Despite Dennis’ reservations, Arnie buys Christine for $250. While Arnie finishes the paperwork, Dennis sits inside Christine and has a vision of the car and the surroundings as they existed when the car was new, 20 years earlier. Frightened, Dennis decides he dislikes Christine. Arnie brings Christine to a do-it-yourself garage run by Will Darnell, suspected of using the garage as a front for illicit operations. As Arnie restores the car, he stops wearing his glasses and his acne clears up, but he also becomes withdrawn, humorless and cynical. When LeBay dies, Dennis meets his younger brother, George, who reveals LeBay’s history of anger and violent behavior. George reveals that LeBay’s young daughter choked to death on a hamburger in the back seat of the car and that LeBay’s wife subsequently committed suicide in its front seat by carbon monoxide poisoning. And as the book goes on Dennis notices that the 1958 Plymouth Fury may be possessed by supernatural forces. Can you goes how it will end and how many people the car will bring to dead?


The first book review on this blog and it is already a big book, written by a big author. Before we start this review I need to say that I have sort of a weird relationship with books written by Stephen King. When I picked this book up to read it. My first thoughts about it was basically that this book will be about an evil version of Lightning Mcqueen, but of course nothing is so simple with books written by Stephen King.

When I was starting this book I was sure that I will not like this book. But after around 50 pages into this book, I began to fall more and more in love with this book. Now around 2 months after finishing this book I think that it is one of the best books written by Stephen King. This book was more or less the 5th book written by Stephen King. Because 2020 was and still is the year where I really got into books and all that. But enough about me and lets go back to the book review.

This book is one of the Stephen King classics and it is defiantly a MUST READ for any horror fan. In this book we have few characters which are incredible described and written.

The character development is very clear in this book. This book have 4 main characters which are Arnie Cunningham, Dennis Guilder, Leigh Cabot and of course Christine aka the car. All these 4 main characters are different from each other and very likable at least in my opinion. We have some side characters which are pretty much parents of these 3 teenagers, some school teachers, a detective, owner of a so-called garage, some dudes who bullies Arnie at school, the guy who sold Arnie the car and his brother. And we don’t have anyone else in this book. If you are the person who likes strong and very good described and written characters in a book you should probably give this book a shoot. It is very easy to see who is the bad guy in this book and who is the good guy. But these characters aren’t all bad and all good. Because the bad guys in this book does some good things and the good guys does some bad things. So they aren’t all bad or all good. Every character in this book (expect of one) are more or less a mix between good and bad.

I’m super glad that this book avoids the “high school drama”. Because the main characters (expect of the car) are in the high school. It was a relief that Stephen King didn’t bother to use like 50 pages on a school drama between characters. However there are some conflicts between Arnie, Dennis and some school bullies. But mostly these conflicts don’t last more than 3-4 pages. Everything which the characters does in this book felt realistic and pretty much logical.

Writing style of this book is brilliant. It almost feels like every word in this book was specially chosen by Stephen King to fit in this book. The writing style makes it really easy to get into this book and like it.

This book changes perspectives as it goes on. And I completely love that because we see stuff from point of views of multiple characters and because of that we get more stuff explained. The perspective we get the most of in this book is the point of view which Dennis have.

This book provides the slow process of Arnie being more and more obsessed with Christine. And how Christine changes him. The whole process doesn’t happen over night but rather throughout this whole book.

The ending is impressively good. In most books the endings sucks and lucky for us this books isn’t one of these books. The ending more realistic than I have expected. And the ending don’t disappoint us. Don’t expect the ending to be happy, it is rather a harsh realistic needing or at least it was for me. However it could have been used more on telling us what happened with people in this town after all these events which had happened.

This book aren’t trying to sell us some super human bull shit like “I broke my leg but I can still run”. And if you want some “Superman” type of characters pick a different book because this book doesn’t have this kind of characters.

Characters in this book can be described as rather a team work people. This book was sort of missing the aspect of explaining about Christine. Sort of why and how is Christine the way it is. And why does Christine act like it does If we go quickly back and talk about Dennis and Arnie. I need to point out that there are couple of times in this book where I felt like in the end Dennis and Arnie wasn’t best friends. But rather that Dennis was obligated to look over Arnie and take care of him when his parents or any adults were around. Because there are times where Dennis is described as the cool football player and Arnie is described as the shy nerdy guy. And whenever Arnie is bullied or trash talked by others Dennis jumps into the picture to save the day.
