“As Kingfishers Catch Fire” By Gerard Manley Hopkins Review

As Kingfishers Catch Fire is a selection of Gerard Manley Hopkins’ incomparably brilliant poetry, ranging from the ecstasy of ‘The Windhover’ and ‘Pied Beauty’ to the heart-wrenching despair of the ‘sonnets of desolation’.

Another poem which didn’t go well with me. After reading a decent amount of poems I think that poems aren’t for me.

The plot here was not great because I just couldn’t connect with it and it felt like the generic plot for all poems.

The writing style here was not great either because it was hard to read due to the old English and it really didn’t give me the vibe which would make interested in it.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“Abou Ben Adhem” By Leigh Hunt Review

I gotta be honest and admit that it wasn’t the greatest poem I’ve read. And I also need to admit that it was my first poem written by Leigh Hunt.

The plot was okay but I just couldn’t connect with it and it didn’t really speak out to me. And if you have read some of my reviews than you might know that if I can connect the plot then the rating tends to be low.

The writing style was okay but that’s just from my perspective and I don’t really know how to review poems in a good way.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“The Long Take” By Robin Robertson Review

Walker, a young Canadian recently demobilised after war and his active service in the Normandy landings and subsequent European operations. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and unable to face a return to his family home in rural Nova Scotia, he goes in search of freedom, change, anonymity and repair. We follow Walker through a sequence of poems as he moves through post-war American cities of New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

This book is a collection of poems. And as some of you might know I’m not the biggest fan of poems which might be the main reason why I’ve rated this book so low as I’ve did.

Most of the poems in this book were kind of boring and uninteresting but there were some poems which were interesting and fun to read.

The writing style was okay but nothing to talk about. Because the writing style was the generic writing style which you can see in most poems.

Some poems are long and some poems are short in this book which might give a bigger picture of this book.

I give this book 2 / 5

“”Why do I love” you, sir?” By Emily Dickinson Review

Wow, I completely understand now why so many people love Emily Dickinson and her work.

The plot was just wow, I just don’t have words to describe it because it was so fucking good.

The plot for the most part is a generic poem plot but Emily Dickinson takes a unique take on it and I really loved it.

The writing style was just wow. It has a huge old time vibe to it which again I love. Because there is something fun and mysterious to the old time language when it is mixed with a good plot and theme.

I give this poem 5 / 5

“I’m Nobody! Who Are You?” By Emily Dickinson Review

Yet again another amazing poem by none another than the one and only Emily Dickinson.

The plot was again brilliant. I really makes you think about couple of things which I really appreciate.

The fact that it was written back in 1891 adds more character to it.

The writing style was also super enjoyable. And the writing style has a fun old time vibe to it which I love when it is mixed with a good plot.

I give this poem 5 / 5

“If I can stop one heart from breaking” By Emily Dickinson Review

I fucking loved this poem, it was awesome.

The plot was amazing and it really made me understand why so many people love Emily Dickinson’s work. I understand it now. The plot was interesting, super engaging and it was so fun to read it.

The writing style was also amazing here and I didn’t expect it. It really had a life of its own.

I had super fun time reading it and it sort of made me sad that it ended.

I give this poem 5 / 5

“”Nature” Is What We See” By Emily Dickinson Review

I gotta to admit that this was a decent poem by none other than Emily Dickinson. I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed her other poems I’ve read so far.

The plot was actually more fun than it should be because of the writing style which gave it more vibe which I enjoyed.

The writing style as I’ve said was fucking good here. Which really surprised me, because it didn’t happen with me when it comes to the work of Emily Dickinson.

This poem had some cool and unique vibe to it which made even more fun to read and I enjoyed it.

But there were something which didn’t work for me, I feel like the plot could have been better than it actually was.

I give this poem 3 / 5

“Because I Could Not Stop for Death” By Emily Dickinson Review

So This one was not that great but it was okay. I didn’t have expectations for this because the past poems by Emily Dickinson didn’t really work for me. But it was okay for the most part.

The plot in this one was good but it could have been better if it was written in a different way. The plot was amazing but the way it was told made it to a generic plot which of course is about death and how awful life is.

The writing style was not great. But that’s just me I guess.

I enjoyed this poem for the most part but I feel like it could have been better than it was.

I give this poem 2 / 5

“A Light Exists In Spring” By Emily Dickinson Review

Yet again a low rated poem by Emily Dickinson.

The plot was interesting in this one but the way it was written made it feel very boring.

The writing style was bad, it may have something to do with the sweet plot and old English being mixed together. The only genre which the old English fits is horror.

But I gotta say that it was a good poem for children in pre school.

I give this poem 1 / 5

“a bird came down the walk” By Emily Dickinson Review

This is my third poem by none other than Emily Dickinson.

The poem of this poem was pretty bad. I found it very boring and very uninteresting. But it was fun to read it because it was short.

The writing style in this one was okay but it could have been better.

I felt like there were something missing from this poem. So maybe that’s the reason for the low rating.

I give this poem 1 / 5
