“A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success” by Maye Musk Book Review

When Maye Musk decided to make gray hair glamorous, she became an international supermodel and worldwide speaker in her sixties – a far cry from the young divorcée living in Durban trying to make ends meet to provide for her three children. Things have not always been easy for the mother of South African-born entrepreneur Elon Musk. She struggled emotionally and financially as a single mother to Elon, Kimbal and Tosca, battled weight issues and had to restart her life and her practice as a dietician in numerous cities over and again. In her compelling memoir, Maye shares hard-earned wisdom and frank, practical advice on careers, health, adventure, and more.

This book is a biography book, but this book would be better under the category of advice book or self-help book. This book is sort of a mix between memoir book and a self-help book. So it is kind of hard to pin it down to a specific genre or field.Because Maye Musk gives us succinct and practical advice from her life so that we may avoid some situation which she been through.

Maybe Musk shows us that she have been through some shit in her life and she is trying in this book to show us that there are always a solution to every bad situation we get into. She are showing us in this book that there are always we can do in a negative point we get into to make it out of it and make our lives to some kind of better.

By telling us all the shit she been through, Maye is trying to show us that we need to open out eyes fast and trying everything we can to get out of it.

This book might be a little bit over hyped but it doesn’t make it to a good book which many woman might enjoy.

This book begins with Maye Musk introducing us to her current day career which she haves and her opinion about aging which a lot of people are afraid of. Then the book goes to a brief summery of her life and what she been through in both a abuse marriage and in her career. She also gives us a lot of advices on that we can’t accept negative situation and make them to our day to day life.

We also get in this book a brief summery on how she was raised by her parents and how she raised her own kids which of course are Tosca, Kimbal and Elon Musk. She describes in this book her approach to parenting, instilling autonomy and allowing them to pursue their own interests. She tells us how she raised her kids in an abuse marriage and how she was trying to make things work.

She is telling us how she get out of some very dark points in her life and how she was capable of move to new countries and new cities.

She is telling us how many times she was rejected in different fields but it didn’t never stop her to trying to get what she wants.

Chapters in this book are very short, every chapter isn’t longer than 10 pages. Which makes it very fun and quick read if you looking for something which you may read in one or two sittings. There are also several pictures in this book which makes the chapters even shorter.

The writing style is pretty okay, it almost seems like the writing style was chosen specifically for people who are learning English. Because the language is very basic and everyone who is learning English will be able to understand. The writing style feels like she is talking to you or like you are listening to a very chill podcast.

The plot is great. It is a little bit different than other biographies / autobiographies out there. Because she is only giving us the brief summery of her life and career. And she isn’t going deep into her life experience and everything which she was doing.

This book would be great for you if you are looking for a short read or if you want to get to know Maye Musk in a brief summary without worrying if the thing you are reading on wikipedia is bull shit or not.

There is something missing in this book. The thing which the book is missing is that Maye Musk could have explained more her life and not just give us a brief summary of everything.

There were times where this book was more or less like “42 years of age this happened, 45 years of age that happened, 69 years of age cover girl etc”. There were times where this book felt like she was listing everything which she have achieved throughout the years.

However this book is aiming at showing woman that they are worth more than they think they are. But also showing woman that they need to take care of themselves and not care about what some toxic people have to say about them. She is showing us in this book that our health is much more important than some of us may think and that we need to take care of our health everyday.

Maye Musk is showing us in this book that not everything is glamorous in your personal life or in your career life. She also doesn’t fail to show us that woman shouldn’t beg man to be in their life. Maye Musk is showing us that woman shouldn’t be with a person who isn’t treating them good enough and give them the respect they need.

I give this book 3 / 5

“The Phantom of the Opera” By Gaston Leroux Review

95First published in French as a serial in 1909, The Phantom of the Opera is a riveting story that revolves around the young, Swedish Christine Daaé. Her father, a famous musician, dies, and she is raised in the Paris Opera House with his dying promise of a protective angel of music to guide her. After a time at the opera house, she begins hearing a voice, who eventually teaches her how to sing beautifully. All goes well until Christine’s childhood friend Raoul comes to visit his parents, who are patrons of the opera, and he sees Christine when she begins successfully singing on the stage. The voice, who is the deformed, murderous ‘ghost’ of the opera house named Erik, however, grows violent in his terrible jealousy, until Christine suddenly disappears. The phantom is in love, but it can only spell disaster.

One of these famous classics from way back in the day. There are a lot of good things about this book out on the internet and they aren’t wrong.

This book has around 360 pages, which are pretty much readable in around 3 days.

The old timely language makes reading this book to a pleasure, and it takes it to a whole another level. And together with the setting of the story is just priceless, and it is definitely a must read. The whole mystery of Opera Ghost who lurks in the shadows of an opera is amazing.

When you first begin to read this book a chilling paranormal tale with an element of friendship in it. In the end this book is a dark tale of a man’s descent into violence and madness, and the woman who forms the obsession at the centre of his life.

If you want to read a book about greatest tragedy in life then consider reading this book. Because this book is a fantastic ghostly tale of love with so much more depth and evilness to the storyline than you almost cant forget about it when you read it.

Most of these characters in this book felt like they were overdramatic but they are likeable and fun to follow throughout the story.

However if you decide to read this book then be prepared for murder by hanging and a lots of cries of terror from death in this book.

I give this book 3 / 5

“Talking with Serial Killers – A chilling study of the world’s most evil people” By Christopher Berry-Dee Review

97An investigative criminologist, Christopher Berry-Dee is a man who talks to serial killers. Their pursuit of horror and violence is described in their own words, transcribed from audio and videotape interviews conducted deep inside some of the toughest prisons in the world. Berry-Dee describes the circumstances of his meetings with some of the world’s most evil men and reproduces, verbatim, their very words as they describe their crimes and discuss their remorse — or lack of it. This work offers a penetrating insight into the workings of the criminal mind.

This book is said to be a book where the author is talking with serial killers but in my opinion this book isn’t about talking with serial killer as much as it was talking about the serial killers.

This book would be better if the author would have given us information about these serial killers or the crime scenes which we couldn’t find anywhere on the internet. But the author gives us the same fucking information which we can find on Wikipedia or somewhere else on the internet

This book is not as much about the interviews which the author has with the serial killers in this book than it is about the author telling us about them. The author could have at least given us some fragments of the interviews at least.

This book isn’t good nor bad, it is pretty much up to you to decide it. But the same information which the author is telling us in this book can be found on the internet for free and it will only take 3 seconds to find it.

There were chapters where the author basically went like “he / she did this, then that and she / he drove somewhere”. There were also moments where it seemed that the author tried to write fiction but without any success. Because every time it was feeling like this the chapter was going down hill.

There are some confusing involving this book. Because there is some small distinction between confessions, real facts, reliable, the logical and the pure form of speculation.

The writing style is pretty poor. There are couple of grammatical errors in the book and there are times where the author goes tells us over and over again something similar to “he / she did this, then that and she / he drove somewhere”.

I will say that you are not missing out on anything if you don’t read this book.

I give this book 2 / 5

“The Grand Design” by Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow Review

96The most fundamental questions about the origins of the universe and of life itself, once the province of philosophy, now occupy the territory where scientists, philosophers, and theologians meet—if only to disagree. In their new book, Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow present the most recent scientific thinking about the mysteries of the universe, in nontechnical language marked by both brilliance and simplicity. In The Grand Design they explain that according to quantum theory, the cosmos does not have just a single existence or history, but rather that every possible history of the universe exists simultaneously. When applied to the universe as a whole, this idea calls into question the very notion of cause and effect.

If you are just freshly starting with being interested in how universe works and all that, then this book is for you. Even if you are someone who knows a lot about the universe, then you should also read it. Because you never know what you may learn from one of the smartest people who ever lived aka Stephen Hawking.

This book is a nonfiction and a science book which makes it easier for people to understand how universe works and how very complicated stuff in science works. But of course this book requires knowing a little bit about universe and it also requires you being interested in the topic. Because if you are not interested in universe it will be a torture to read this book.

In this book both Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow shows amazing writing skills together with some huge explanatory skills. I personally learned a lot of things from this book.

The whole M-theory which Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow presents in this book, in my opinion doesn’t fully work. But what do I know right?

This book explains in an easy way to understand a little bit how M-theory and universe works. Of course it isn’t so easy that a 7 year old would understand, but it is easy so that a 16 year old would understand. This book unpacks the universe a little bit and explain to us in basics how they work.

We have illustrations in this book which makes it easier for us to keep track of what we are reading in this book.

I give this book 5 / 5

"The Outsider" By Stephen King Review

99An unspeakable crime. A confounding investigation. At a time when the King brand has never been stronger, he has delivered one of his most unsettling and compulsively readable stories. An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

This book really shows why Stephen King is the best horror author in the 21 century.

Quality over quantity rule is of course here with us. The characters which we have in this book are so fucking good made. Every character is different from the rest and overall they feel almost like real people. Every character in this book make both good and bad decisions which may have consequences. All of these characters in this book are multilayered which makes this book even better. As an extra thing we also have Holly Gibney from the Mr. Mercedes trilogy in this book.

The story itself is super unique. I personally didn’t see anything similar to the story which is in this book. so this gives this book extra points.

The writing style of course is at a high level like in almost every Stephen King book. The writing style is so good that it felt like it was rather like watching a movie than reading a book.

This book is a page-turner which can be read in 3 days or more than this if you really try to do so. This book also leaves you on edge almost the whole time as it goes on.

This book is very moody and scary, and it might even give you some old school vibe. This book is both a murder mystery and supernatural. This book is different from other stories because it involves folklores and legend.

Descriptions in this book are amazing, and there are a lots of them in this book. We get a lot of details which brings the whole book to even a brighter light.

This book have all the best parts of murder mystery, supernatural and folklores genres and they are put together in this book.

I give this book 5 / 5

"Run Away" By Harlan Coben Review

86You’ve lost your daughter. She’s addicted to drugs and to an abusive boyfriend. And she’s made it clear that she doesn’t want to be found. Then, quite by chance, you see her busking in New York’s Central Park. But she’s not the girl you remember. This woman is wasted, frightened and clearly in trouble. You don’t stop to think. You approach her, beg her to come home. She runs. And you follow her into a dark and dangerous world you never knew existed. Where criminal gangs rule, where drugs are the main currency, and murder is commonplace.

The whole story blows my mind, that’s how amazing it is. We have a lot of things involved in the plot in this book. We have cult, we have headhunters, we have private detective being killed, missing people, drug addicts and even more, the typical rich white family and even more.

The characters were brilliant, and there was a huge dynamic between them. The parents are doing anything they can to find their daughter. And we can feel the fathomless love of a parent throughout the whole story. You will be able to feel the pain of some characters as the story goes on.There are times when the character are annoying specially the cult people.

There were times when it was hard to put this book down, because it was so interesting and a lot of action happening.

No plot holes are relevant in this book. The whole plot is good and it is very good explained at the end.

The twist at the end is just priceless. Is so good. It started innocent with only some references to 23andMe and other DNA sites but then at the end the huge twist happened. I think that you will at least appreciate it.

You will have hard time being emotionally involved with a lot of stuff which is happening in this book. However there will be couple of times where you will sympathizine with some of the characters in this book.

I give this book 2 / 5

"The Tattooist of Auschwitz" By Heather Morris Review

87In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (the German word for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners. One day in July 1942, Lale, prisoner 32407, comforts a trembling young woman waiting in line to have the number 34902 tattooed onto her arm. Her name is Gita, and in that first encounter, Lale vows to somehow survive the camp and marry her.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Holocaust fiction books in the English language alone. So I would recommend to not pick up this one.

It is a story based of true people and true events but this book have contains couple of errors and information inconsistent with the some facts. This book also contains over-interpretations, misinterpretations and understatements on which the overall inauthentic picture of the camp reality is built. If you don’t believe me on this one, feel free the feuds between the author of this book and Auschwitz Museum. And there are also a disclaimer at the museum (which I have visited) that this book contains several errors in it as well as some falls information.

Because of these errors in information I cant give this book a good review. This is because people who read read historical books wants to educate themselves and not just read something which was made up by the author.

However in the end this book doesn’t fail to show us the sad reality of Holocaust, Concentration camps and evilness of Nazi soldiers.

Some of the descriptions in this book are were shitty and very poorly done. It was almost as if the author didn’t bother to put all the work she could have into this book.

There were no depth in the emotions. And the characters were written as they had only one thing good and bad about them. I hate when this happens, because I want to see the characters as realistic as possible. And as we all know in the real world no one is only shades of bad or good.

The writing style could have been better. There were a lot of times when this book went like “he did this, and then he did that”.And it was sort of written as a fictional story when we look at the fals informations and errors in the book itself

The dialogs in this book for the most part felt empty, ridiculous and overall shallow. It was almost like the author just wanted to fill up the empty space on paper. Overall the dialgos felt like they were written by 12 year old kid.

The descriptions in this book feels like the author wanted to just be done with them and move on. There weren’t a lot of details in the descriptions. For the most part the descriptions were like “he had a black and white cloths on him”

I give this book 1 / 5

"Psycho" By Robert Bloch Review

88It was a dark and stormy night when Mary Crane glimpsed the unlit neon sign announcing the vacancy at the Bates motel. Exhausted, lost, and at the end of her rope, she was eager for a hot shower and a bed for the night. Her room was musty but clean and the plumbing worked. Norman Bates, the manager, seemed nice, if a little odd.

Finally Friday 13th, so why not review on of the classic books in horror field today. Psycho is one of the greatest books out there. Psycho is a MUST READ classic, from 1959. This book was written long ago, but not let this change your mind about this book because it is much better you think.

In this book we have perspectives from multiple characters, which makes this story more interesting than it would be if we had only one or two perspectives.

The main character Norman is just wow, I guess that I don’t have to explain him because most of you guys probably knows a lot about him. There are a lot of red flags with him. Norman as a main character is so brilliant, throughout this whole book we believe that he is doing bad thing to protect his mother. But as the end is closer and closer, we see that in fact his mother maybe isn’t the bad guy after all.

Throughout this whole book we are lead to believe that Norman wouldn’t harm anyone not even a Mosquito or could he? Norman is so complexed that it is hard to even describe him.

The end of this book brings an amazing twist to the whole story. We actually get clues and clues and hints throughout this whole book about the twist but most of the time we go like “no, it can’t be true”. This twist actually brings a lot to the story and it wouldn’t be the same without it.

The writing style is classy and amazing. Writing style defiantly sets the mood for the whole story and it gives us a creepy vibe.

This book isn’t scary, it is rather interesting and its one of the best thriller / mystery book out there.

If you are afraid of staying at motel rooms, this book will not help you with that fear.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that this book and Norman Bates was inspired by a murder and criminal who was arrested in 1957. This criminal and murder was Ed Gein.

I give this book 5 / 5

“Pet Sematary” by Stephen King Review

89When the Creeds move into a beautiful old house in rural Maine, it all seems too good to be true: physician father, beautiful wife, charming little daughter, adorable infant son-and now an idyllic home. As a family, they’ve got it all…right down to the friendly car. But the nearby woods hide a blood-chilling truth-more terrifying than death itself-and hideously more powerful. The Creeds are going to learn that sometimes dead is better.

The characters are just the amazing nothing more and nothing less. They are good described, they are different from each other and they feel again as real characters.

The story is completely unique and brilliant. I personally didn’t see anything even close to the plot of this book. This book makes you addicted to it and you can’t stop reading it, and you get so much into the story that you can read this book in 2 days.

I need to give you a warning because this book involves child deaths so if you get triggered by this than maybe don’t pick up this book.

The last 25 % of the book keeps you on the edge of the thing which you are sitting on, and your heart will go on a marathon run.

The vibe of this book is interesting, creepy, exiting and shocking. This book is defiantly super dark because it involves death. And it may fuck you up a little bit.

The writing style is very good. It goes very deep and the way how the whole book is written is just through the roof. The way how emotions are described in this book are on very high level.

This book deserves to be overhyped because it is brilliant. And you should have high expectations for this book if you haven’t read it.

The origin of the pet cemetery in this book, and why does something happening in this book are very good explained.

This book involves some hardcore death scenes so here is your warning.

I give this book 5 / 5

"Greenlights" by Matthew McConaughey Review

91Biography book written by Academy Award® winning actor. This book is an unconventional memoir filled with raucous stories, outlaw wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living with greater satisfaction.

Alright, alright, alright. That’s what I’m talking about. This book very easily wins every rank in this blog. The fact that this book is a bestseller at New York Times (at the time of writing), really proves that this book is more than an good book.

This book deserves the hype which it got, and it is an MASTERPEICE. All these high expectations which you might have for this book are worth it, because this book is amazing. And no Matthew McConaughey didn’t pay me for say this, but I would love to interview him for this blog and talk about his book.

The storytelling which Matthew McConaughey give us in this book is brilliante. And these memorable stories from his life are something you will not forget so easily. I personally thing that his stories and the whole book will stay in my head for couple years at least.

Not only can Matthew McConaughey act but he can also write and he is a fantastic author and storyteller. And his passion makes it even more fun and enjoyable to read. And all these things together made me don’t want to end this book.

This whole book was so fucking engaging and brilliant to read that I couldn’t stop reading it. When I personally tok a break from this book I couldn’t stop thinking about this book. Which really shows how incredible Matthew McConaughey is at writing and storytelling.

The whole book felt like setting down with Matthew McConaughey, over a glass of whisky or bourbon or whatever you drink and listen to him telling you his whole life story. This book wasn’t a borden to reading about someones life story but rather as a motivational book.

This entire book was motivating, funny, well written, smooth as porcelain and something coming from the heart. This book shows that not only is Matthew McConaughey a great actor but also that he have some high writing and story telling skills which most author don’t have.

The quality of this book is surprising, because it is much better than you can expect. This whole book isn’t just 300 pages with words which you will forget in one month like a lot of biographies are. This book does also involve pictures, poetry and letters written by Matthew McConaughey. Matthew McConaughey dives deep into his life and himself to find the answer he were looking for throughout his life. And he brings these answers and questions in a form of a book.

If you are into biographies and you enjoy reading them just as I do, then this book is a MUST READ, no matter if you like, love or hate him. This book isn’t only about him. This book is also about people, different cultures, the Experiences in life and find your path in life.

This book is more or less may open your eyes on some stuff. because it involves death, strangling with your identity and how to find deal with “red lights”, “yellow lights “ and “green lights”.

I give this book 10 / 5
